Chapter 16

It was pay day today. Kim had already repeatedly told me early this morning that I should treat her to a meal after getting payed.

In order to not let her wait, I got off work a bit earlier than usual which rarely happened.

As soon as I walked out of the office building, a man in a suit came over and said politely, "Hello, Miss Defiant. I am Mr. Mitaka's driver. He asked me to pick you up."

It was closing time and people around me looked at me with strange eyes.

For a moment, I was in a trance, "Mr. Mitaka? Dave Mitaka? Why would he send someone to pick me up?"

The driver explained, "The Chairman wants to see you, that is, Mr. Dave's grandfather."

Thinking of the phone call from a month ago, I felt repulsion in my heart and also feared that Dave would insult me in front of his grandfather. However, I had no choice but to go.
