************************Mack's POV*************************

The news spread like wildfire. The moment it broke, it was like a tidal wave crashed over the company _ everything we've worked on. The company's reputation was at stake.

I couldn't let that happen. I couldn't let everything crumble under the weight of the news. It's all over the papers, on the screen, on every broadcast, like a stain that couldn't be scrubbed out.

I couldn't allow my family to be dragged down.

I knocked on his door.

He opened it with a sad look plastered on his face.

I stepped inside without saying anything. I notuced the way he flinched at my presence. I could feel the weight of the news as it pressed down on him.

"You've seen the news?" I asked. My voice was flat, the tension in the air was thick enough to choke someone.

"Yeah, I've seen the news." He said as he tried his best to sound calm. But there's a flicker in his eyes something ___ I can't get my hands on.

"They said it was suicide huh?" I asked. M

******************************Liam’s POV*****************The ping came just after nine—a discreet vibration against the glass of my desk. I didn’t flinch, neither did i rush. Calm control had always been my style. I glanced at the tablet screen where a secure message blinked beneath layers of encryption.**Subject Visited: Aliana Moore.Visitors: Claire, Mack, and Elizabeth. Etian.Duration: 38 mins. Surveillance attached.**My fingers paused on the rim of my coffee cup, the steam curling upward like smoke from a fire I thought I’d already put out.Claire.My heart skipped a beat when, I saw her on the screen.I tapped the screen, and the image expanded—grainy but clear enough. Claire’s brown eyes were pinched with concern. Etian’s shoulders were tight, brimming with tension. Mack’s jaw clenched like he’d just bitten into something bitter. And Liz... Liz looked like she was already ten moves ahead. My gaze settled on Claire. The softness in her face wasn’t for me anymore. It was for M

**************************Claire's POV**********************The precinct smelled like burnt coffee and old paper. The kind of place where time moved slowly, where the hum of fluorescent lights drilled into your skull and everything felt a little too still. I hadn’t been inside one in years—not like this. Not with a knot of dread sitting in my stomach like a stone.Etian walked beside me, his face unreadable. Mack trailed just behind, one hand hovering at my lower back like he needed to feel I was still there. Liz had said nothing since we stepped inside—her arms crossed, her jaw tight, her eyes scanning every corner like the walls might betray us.“I pulled some strings to get us ten minutes,” Etian said, his voice low as he leaned closer. “She’s still in holding, not yet moved. We’re lucky.”I wasn’t sure if lucky was the word.A young officer led us through two sets of doors, down a quiet corridor, and into a dimly lit interview room. There was a mirror along one wall—two-way—and a

*************************Claire’s POV**********************The silence that followed the discovery was thick—stifling, like a storm just before it broke.Aliana. Stalking me.The words felt foreign, sharp-edged and impossible to swallow. My throat tightened as Liz scrolled through the photos one more time—grainy screenshots, security footage, timestamps. All this places Aliana near my building, near Mack’s place, and even outside my office.“She followed you,” Liz breathed, her voice was low and tight. “This wasn’t just a casual coincidence,” she continued.I leaned back against my seat, my arms crossed so tight it hurt. “She said she was jealous,” I murmured. “That she wanted what I had with Mack.” Etian exhaled sharply. “Jealousy doesn’t explain this. This is surveillance, Claire. Strategic. She wasn’t just watching—you were being monitored,” he rasped as he pointed at the photos in front of us.Mack stood beside me, jaw clenched. I felt his hand hover near mine, but he didn’t

**************************Claire's POV**********************The air in the cafe was thick with the aroma of caffeine and the sharp bitterness of secrets waiting to be told. Amongst that, the warmth in the room felt comforting, almost making the atmosphere unreal. An inaudible advert played on the TV plastered against the wall. Almost everyone was busy on their phones.I sat at a corner table, my fingers traced the rim of my untouched cappuccino. I couldn't get the phone call out of my mind. Alaina's voice echoed on my head, playing on a row, like a broken song. Framed. Liam. Help me. I looked up almost immediately as the bell above the entrance jingled. Mack entered first, his dark coat damp from the spring drizzle outside. His eyes scanned the room until they landed on me. I offered a soft smile as I wavee him to my direction.Behind him came Liz.She smiled warmly at me. Her warm ole held the kind of strength only time and pain could forge. Her hair was pinned back, her eyes sharp

***************************Claire's POV******************** I was halfway through the work I had been doing on my laptop in the study when my phone buzzed. It wasn't the vibration that my stomach twisted__ it was the number flashing across the screen. Unknown.Blocked. And yet I knew.I knew before I even answered. My fingers hung in the air as I was about to continue, but I ignored the work and picked it up."Hello?" There was a beat of silence on the other end. Then—Her voice came in.“Claire.”Her voice was strained but unmistakable. Smoky, low, a little huskier than usual—like she’d been screaming hours before and had only just stopped. My heart stuttered in my chest.“Aliana?” I asked.Certainty hitting me.“I don’t have long. They only gave me a minute,” she whispered.I dropped into the nearest chair, gripping the edge of the table. “Where are you?” I muttered, pretending not to know where she was.“You saw the news,” she said quietly.I closed my eyes. “Yeah. I saw it.” My

*****************************Etian's POV*******************The precinct meeting area was colder than I remembered, all sterile tiles and flickering fluorescents that buzzed like a warning in my ears. We'd came out of the visiting area, we'd gone to visit Claire, if I could call that a visit or a confrontation. She hasn't shed a tear. She hadn't pleaded for help. She hadn't confessed. But the betrayal in hee eyes was enough to gut me. Her voice rang like an echo in my head, not because of what she said, but because of what she hadn't said. She didn’t deny it.Not outright. She kept talking about someone framing her.Was it Claire?Liam? Both of them have the resources to orchestrate this, but who is gaining more from it?Everything quietened down. The silence__ it was like a hook lodged in my chest. I couldn't shake it off.Rowe stood beside me, motionless as a statue, jaw tight and eyes distant as we exited through the double doors. His silence had its own weight, like he was calcula

*************************Liam’s POV************************The city pulsed quietly beneath the veil of dawn, but my penthouse office was already alight, the amber glow from my desk lamp casting long shadows across walls lined with steel and silence. The news had broken fast—Aliana Moore, dragged from her home in her sleepwear, her face a mask of disbelief, splashed across every screen in the country. It had played exactly as i’d wanted. Almost too perfectly.I leaned against the edge of my desk, fingers drumming thoughtfully, a smirk just twitching at the corner of my mouth. The room smelled of leather, cold coffee, and ambition. This was what winning felt like—tainted by the bitter aftertaste of necessity, but sweet in its control. My phone buzzed on the polished marble surface behind me. Another update from the legal contact I'd bribed to quietly seed the evidence packet into the precinct’s system. Untraceable, scrubbed clean of metadata, and tied together in a perfectly sinister b

************************Etian's POV*************************The ride to the precinct was silent. The tension in the air was thick and charged, unspoken, stretching between Rowe and me like a rope fraying at the ends. Even though we’d both seen the news this morning, even after poring over the so-called "evidence," there was still something that didn’t sit right. But it was getting harder to ignore the growing possibility that Aliana was involved.Still, nothing about the whole thing made sense. We arrived at the precinct; we were led through a set of narrow hallways by a stone-faced officer. The scent of cold coffee and bleach lingered in the air. Fluorescent lights buzzed overhead. We stopped at an interview room—sterile, small, and boxed in by glass on one side. The officer gestured silently.Inside, she sat. Aliana. She looked different. Not just because of the grey pyjamas and the absence of her usual sharp polish. But because of the way she sat, back straight but hands clenched

  • The CEO’s Temptation    Chapter 85: Breaking The Surface.

*****************************Claire's POV*******************Claire's Apartment, Later That NightI perched on the edge of the couch, my knees bouncing in a rhythm only anxiety could compose. The apartment was lit softly, all the harsh overheads off, leaving the place bathed in warm gold from the floor lamp and the muted city lights outside. Mrs. Amelia had cleaned earlier, not because it needed to be cleaned, but because everything felt dirty. Dirty like the news report on loop or replaying Aliana's face behind the car window.Mack sat beside me in the living room, his hand rested gently against mine. It wasn't much, but it anchored me. I glanced down at our fingers__ not quite laced, but close. Just close enough to keep my mind from wandering with thoughts. The door clicked open."They're here," I murmured as I sat up.Kelvin stepped in first, followed by Liz, her eyes shadowed and jaw tight. Daniel brought up the rear, closing the door behind them with a soft click. I hadn’t seen D
