Lily’s POV
The weekend went by quickly just as I’d wished. It was the most excruciating weekend of my life. I wish I could just disappear to an unknown location so that Derek and his girlfriend could have the whole house to themselves. The girl wouldn’t stop giggling during the day and moaning loudly at night. It was unbearable and I had to admit at a point that I hated just how much she was having fun and that made me decide it was time to find a job. Also, Caster was nowhere to be seen after I saw him on Friday night.
“Do you think I can get a job if I apply for one?” I asked Scarlet as we walked along the faculty walkway, trying to get to our last class. It was Monday already and everyone was cranky in a kind of way. Scarlet said most of them are still trying to get over their hangovers from partying all weekend.
“Have you ever applied for one?” She asked. I shook my head.
Derek’s POVWatching Shortcake and my mom talk was as hard as hell. It was as if I was waiting for a judge to pass my judgment after committing a murder in self-defense. I was sitting in the dining area as I listened to their conversation. I still don’t know why I’m so scared with my mom finding out about some of the things that has transpired since Lily began living with me or should I say, married to me.“How’s Arianna?” Lily asked. My mom laughed for an unknown reason.“I know you’re only asking out of courtesy, you don’t like her that much, do you?” My mom asked. I don’t know what Lily’s response was but the two of them went awfully silent after that.“You do realize you have to make friends no matter how difficult it is,” “I know and I’m working on it. I have a friend that I attend classes with in college,
LILY’S POV I couldn’t sleep a wink at night. My body didn’t stop shaking at intervals and the hiccups won’t stop as well. I still can’t believe I let Derek touch me. I feel so disgusting and I hate myself for letting it happen again. When he told me to relax, I did, I swear I did but at some point when I became breathless and I closed my legs as wetness pooled between my legs, there was a shift at the moment.I was no more with Derek, locked behind the fridge, I was in the darkroom, locked behind the door. A gut-wrenching scream erupted through me and I shook to reality. It wasn’t Derek that I saw when I opened my eyes, it was the man that I dreaded the most. I saw fire all around me, consuming me when I opened my eyes,I kept tossing and turning every second on the bed. I ended up throwing up the dinner I had, even though it wasn’t something much. It’s just a juice box
LILY’S POV For the rest of the week, Derek acted as if I was invisible. He walked past me or even pick something up in front of me and acts as if I wasn’t there in any way. It was exhausting trying to not feel the burden of what happened. I should be the one acting as if he was invisible not the other way around. I was sitting on the balcony of my room, watching the flowers while trying to get some readings done. College would resume next week and Scarlet wouldn’t stop complaining about resumption already. It was an impromptu break that I hate so much.I’ve been at home all through, doing nothing but reading and trying not to choke in Derek’s presence. Caster too hasn’t been too available at home, he usually leaves by morning and returns late at night. I’d heard Derek asking him if he was drug dealing and I couldn’t help shaking my head and wondering why Derek would think of his brother tha
DEREK’S POV “Am I seeing right? Is that Derek?” My third brother, Alex, surprisingly asked as I walked into the house with Lily in front of me. I’d warned her again on the way here about the things she shouldn’t talk about and she confidently told me she wasn’t stupid.“Yes, Alex. He’s Derek,” Caster replied.Alex walked towards me happily, probably getting ready to hug me or something but I glared at him, making the boy turn 360 instantly like he was being controlled by a remote, and walked back to stay by Caster’s side. They fit perfectly for siblings and I’m the one destroying the perfect image of the family.“Derek,” Arianna screamed running out of the kitchen to throw her hands around me. “I’ve missed you, Cousin,” She gushed.“And I still hate you. Now, get off me you monkey,” I yelled, tryi
DEREK’S POV “Someone is finally getting married,” Henry screamed as he joined Sebastian and me at the back door, waiting for both him and the church door to be opened so we could walk in.“So much excitement from the Best man who is late,” I spat.“What crawled up your ass this morning, Derek? Today’s different. You’re not supposed to be angry you’re supposed to be happy,” Henry whined. I clicked my tongue, hoping I wouldn’t end up punching the daylight out of him.“A worm called Henry Salvatore did,” I angrily replied.“Are you drunk, Henry?” He shook his head. “Nope, I’m not,” “Good, because today's a big day for Sebastian and I don’t think you should spoil it for him,”“You’ll be the one to destroy the day with your unhappy face by the way,&rdq
Lily’s POV The wedding reception was just as amazing as the church ceremony. Even though I was surprised the couple refused to exchange vows, the bride’s beauty was all I could think about. She didn’t look excited or happy throughout the ceremony and she had a frown etched on her face which she hid anytime she was introduced to guests at her wedding reception.“Why did your friend refuse the vows?” I asked Derek on our way home. The couples left a few minutes earlier than we did. What couples leave their own wedding so early?“He said he was busy,” Derek replied. I shrugged, not believing what he had said.“The vows wouldn’t take more than five minutes or even less, I can’t believe a groom wouldn’t say the vows at his wedding because he was time conscious,”“It was an arranged marriage,” He finally replied and I still di
Derek’s POV I took a step closer to Lily, not sure what to do or say. After Lucas had said those horrible things the other day, I was expecting something crazier or less crazy about Lily or how my mom found her. When my mom first introduced her, I wasn’t in my right senses to actually think about her name but now, it suddenly made sense. “My mom gave you a new name last year,” She nodded. “Yes for a reason that I can’t tell you,” She replied, breathing heavily. “Why?” I inquired. She had been repeating the words for some reason because she doesn’t want to say what I actually want to hear. “I’m sorry,” “I’m not asking you to apologize because you haven’t done anything wrong, I’m just asking you to tell me why you’re Lily Miller instead of whatever name you’re supposed to bear,” After a long silence, she managed to say. “It’s a long story,” “Luckily
LILY’S POV On Monday, Mrs. Miller called me as I was getting ready for classes. The college has been reopened and the administration said they were in the process of investigating the cause of the riot and those behind it. Mrs. Miller asked me what happened between Derek and me and I had no answer. I know it was my fault, I was the one who told him the story behind my name and when he wanted to know more, I flopped.“I’m sorry, Mrs. Miller,” I apologized. I sat back on the bed, instead of leaving the house with the phone pressed to my ear.“Lily. You don’t have to apologize for anything. I only want to know how it happened. Why did you tell him?” She asked again.“I don’t know what to say, Mrs. Miller,” I denied instead of telling the truth.“It's okay, my dear. The only problem is how persistent Derek can get. If he finds out one, he&rsq
