"So, you've finally decided to come home?" Alaric was angry, but Evelyn did not seem to understand why her so-called husband was waiting for her.

Evelyn, clearly drained, simply replied, "I'm too tired for your taunts."

Attempting to leave, Evelyn was halted by Alaric, who grabbed her hand and pulled her closer.

A demanding tone filled Alaric's voice as he asked, "It's 1 am. Where have you been since morning?"

An irritated expression on her face, Evelyn replied, "I said I'm tired."

Alaric felt his anger building up, but his gaze shifted to the dried bloodstain on Evelyn's forehead. Curiosity took over, and he gently inquired, "How did you get this injury?"

Alaric reached out to touch the wound, but Evelyn slapped Alaric's hand away, defiance in her eyes.

"It's none of your business," she retorted.

Alaric furrowed his brow and released his grip on her. Calming himself, he repeated his question, this time with a mix of fury and concern.

"Where have you been, Evelyn?" He asked.
