"What do you mean?" Evelyn questioned.

Kevin began to explain, "Jeremy, Dianna's older brother, was Alaric's bodyguard. When Alaric was around eleven years old, he was almost killed by enemies of the Pritzker family. Jeremy took a bullet for him and died to save his life. Jeremy's last request was for Alaric to take care of his only family, his baby sister, Dianna. Since then, Alaric has carried immense guilt for Jeremy's death and has treated Jeremy's family as his own. Alaric started spending more time with Dianna to ease her grief and ensure she didn't feel her brother's absence, he also sponsored everything for her. Dianna, too, supported Alaric tremendously, and on her eighteenth birthday, she proposed to him. Out of care for her, Alaric ended up promising to marry her and care for her for the rest of her life, not truly understanding the meaning of love. However, Alaric's parents didn't approve of Dianna as their daughter-in-law due to their status."
