Chapter 18

The morning sun slowly filtered in through the window, casting a warm glow on the living room floor where Evelyn laid sound asleep. She was jolted awake by a gentle shake and the sound of her butler, Kenny's soft voice. Blinking her eyes and wincing because of the severe headache, she struggled to sit up.

"Madam, please wake up. Are you okay?" Kenny asked, his voice laced with concern as he knelt down by her side.

Evelyn blinked her eyes several times to clear her head before looking around, trying to piece together what happened last night. As her gaze fell on the now-clean floor, she felt a pang of guilt for making Kenny clean up the mess.

"I'm sorry for making you clean up the mess," she said softly.

Kenny shook his head gently, his eyes still filled with worry, "No, madam, please don't apologize. I wanted to place you somewhere more comfortable, but I was forbidden to touch you. I didn't want to anger Sir."

Evelyn let out a sad smile in understanding and nodded. "Where is he?" she
