Third Person POV

Elijah was there in the cold night in the nightclub parking lot, checking the clock anxiously, wondering if he should ignore Fiona who had told him to wait outside or if he should go after her.

Fiona was taking too long, more than twenty minutes had passed with her inside and Elijah couldn’t tell if she was with Sebastian or what was happening.

He felt like going in and seeing it with his own eyes, but at the same time he was afraid. What if he caught Fiona kissing Sebastian, reconciling.

“Fuck!” Elijah should have stopped Fiona from going to that damn club. But he didn’t have to wait much longer because he spotted Fiona approaching with her purse in hand and shoulders hunched forward.

“Damn, Fiona, are you okay? I was right when I said I should’ve gone in with you,” Elijah said frustrated when he saw Fiona coming back from the club with teary eyes and a defeated expression.

“I’m fine, yeah… I just need to go home and rest…,” she mumbled, Elijah immediately noti

Fiona POVAfter my mom left, the house stayed with that nice lazy Sunday silence. Sebastian locked the door, picked me up in his arms as if I were a feather and carried me to the TV room sofa without any effort.“Today you don’t get up from here,” he said seriously, but with that sideways smile that disarms me every time. “Only rest, movie, lap and kiss. Medical and husband’s order.”I laughed, nestled into his chest, head on his shoulder, legs over his, thick blanket covering both of us.“As you wish, husband,” I answered giving him a long and affectionate kiss. Then I snuggled more into him and stayed watching the movie with him until late.Sebastian even went to make popcorn and brought soda so we could enjoy our time together in peace and more relaxed. He put on some random romantic comedy, one of those we’ve seen a thousand times, but that always makes us laugh at the same time. The sunlight came in weakly through the window, my mom’s banana cake smell still lingered in the house

Third POVWhen they woke up the next morning, the sun was already coming in strong through the windows, lighting the room with a golden and warm light that seemed to wash away any leftover shadow from the night before.Fiona opened her eyes slowly, body still heavy from good sleep, head resting on Sebastian’s chest that rose and fell calmly. He was already awake, stroking her blonde hair calmly, kissing her forehead from time to time, arm firm around her waist as if he would never let go. The two smiled at the same time, without needing to say anything, just the look saying everything.“This is the best thing in the world, really. Being able to wake up with you by my side,” she said to him who smiled more.“Ugh, I’m so in love with you that my chest even hurts,” he said.Fiona stroked his chest. “A good pain, a pain of love.” She gave him a calm and serene kiss.A nice smell came up the stairs and invaded the room. Fresh coffee, bread toasting, scrambled eggs, something sweet baking,

Third POVFiona woke up suddenly, chest rising and falling fast, whole body cold with sweat, bitter taste in the roof of the mouth. The nightmare was still stuck in the mind like spider web. She saw Eli on the stretcher again, blood on the face, the paramedics running, and her scream echoing without leaving the throat. It was always the same dream from which she could never get rid of, that dream that always left her heart tight and made her have a terrible day after appearing. She hated that.Breathed deep several times, tried to calm down, reached out to the side of the bed looking for Sebastian’s warmth, the touch that always brought her back. But the place was empty. The sheet cold. She sat up fast, heart racing again, eyes looking in the dark. The faint moonlight came in through the open window, drawing the room in shades of blue and silver. Sebastian was there, standing, back to her, looking out at the night. His silhouette looked like a statue, tense shoulders, arms crossed,

Third POVHours after the accident, the doorbell rang at the Blackwood mansion.Sebastian opened the door and found Sofia there, face pale with worry, small bag in hand, eyes already watery behind the big sunglasses, even before entering.“Hi, Sofia. Good you came,” he said, giving her a brief hug.“Oh, dear. I wish I could have come even earlier… Where is she?” She asked already anxious.“There on the couch waiting for you,” Sebastian said with a small smile, making room for his mother-in-law to pass. When Sofia saw her daughter sitting on the living room couch, wrapped in a thick blanket, a teacup in slightly shaking hands, she ran to hug her hard, as if she needed to feel she was really whole.“Mommy…” Fiona cried to her mom, hugging her back.“My daughter… my God in heaven… you’re really okay?” She ran her hands over Fiona’s face, hair, arms, looking for bruises, checking every inch with scared mother eyes.Fiona moaned weakly, hugging her back, voice still hoarse from crying. “

Third POVSebastian drove the whole way in silence, one hand firm on the wheel, the other holding Fiona’s hand as if it was the only thing keeping her in the world. She was curled up in the passenger seat, face pale, eyes red and swollen from crying so much. Every now and then her whole body shook, a tremor that came from inside, as if the shock was still running through her veins. The light blue dress was dirty with dust and a little torn at the hem, hair messy, but she didn’t even seem to notice. No matter how much Sebastian was there with her, she still couldn’t get the image of the headlights aiming straight at her and the sound of the runaway car’s wheels, ready to end her life.Fiona curled up automatically, made a face and then sobbed in despair. She would literally be dead now, thinking about it was so terrifying.Sebastian stroked her hand, squeezing harder. “Everything’s okay, my love. You’re safe now with me…” he said, having already been through a serious enough accident

Third POVThe world turned into a blur in the blink of an eye. Fiona saw the white headlights coming straight at her, blinding, the black car accelerating as if it had a single objective: to end her. The sound of the engine roaring seemed like thunder. In the thousandth of a second, instinct took over. She turned the wheel with all her strength, the tires screamed on the asphalt, her car skidded, hit the curb with violence, the airbag exploded in her face, but stayed upright. The black car flew past her side, completely lost control and crashed head-on into a concrete pole with a crash that made the ground shake and the windows of nearby buildings vibrate. The silence that came after was worse than any noise. The black car’s engine was still spewing black smoke. Shattered glass everywhere. The pole was bent, wires throwing blue sparks in the dark. The smell of burnt rubber and gasoline invaded everything.Fiona was shaking so much she could barely hold the wheel. The heart was b
