THE MOTHER OF CURSES

The wind above the Citadel howled like it remembered every soul lost beneath its spires. But below, in the chamber of blood and bones, silence reigned.

Elara stood at the center of the fading gate, her palm still bleeding from the self-inflicted wound. Her breath was ragged, her eyes flashing with residual fire. The blade she used, still trembling in her arm, was no longer black.

Now, it pulsed a ghostly white, almost as if cleansed. “She tried to consume me,” Chaewon whispered.

Lerder stepped in, touching her face with trembling fingers. “But you didn’t let her.”

“She’s still there. I can feel her. Like a shadow inside my ribcage. Waiting.”

A woman with Elara’s face looking older, crueler. Standing on a pile of corpses. Laughing.

“I died cursing the world. And now I return to finish it,” the voice hissed.

Lerder screamed. “This changes everything.”

“She died in childbirth,” Elara said. “She…”

“Was sealed,” Lerder said. “Not dead. Bound inside you.”

Elara backed a

THE FALLINGThe Citadel was dying. They barely escaped the Citadel—wounded, fractured.Lerder sat beside the fire, staring into his bloodied hands. “I’m his son.”“You are not him,” Elara said.“But I carry his blood… Just like you carry hers.”“I saw myself kill you,” Elara whispered. “And I wanted it.”Lerder looked up. “Then kill me now.”Elara kissed him instead, hard and desperate. He pulled her into his lap, kissed her with passion, he kept romancing her body to more pleasure, mouth tasting of salt and ash.He voiced tightly, “I love you, Elara with all my heart you're the perfect woman for me.”“I love you too, what can I do without you… You are my w

THE FALSE KINGThe Citadel trembled like it knew what had been broken.Down below, where sigils had once blazed and destinies had been carved into stone, Elara stood alone—soaked in sweat, ash, and blood not her own. The bond that tethered her to Lerder was gone, torn and sacrificed to keep him alive. And now? He didn’t remember her!.Didn’t remember their first kiss. The night under the thunderstorm. The firelight promises, he didn’t remember whispering her name like it was his only prayer. She had died in his arms… and now she was nothing to him.“Elara.” Rhys’s voice was gentle behind her. “We need to move. The Queen may be weakened, but she’s not dead.”“She took everything,” Elara rasped. “She didn’t kill me… she erased me.”“You made a choice,” Lyra said, stepping beside them. “A warrior’s choice. A leader’s.”“I didn’t want to be a leader.” Her voice cracked. “I wanted him.”A silence fell like ash. Then the sky screamed from the highest spire of the Citadel, Malak emerged. He

THE SHADOW HEARTTrees bent away from the storm swelling over the Carpathians, as if the earth itself feared what was coming. The clouds rolled in violet spirals, and above them, the moon cracked open with black veins flowing across its face like decay flesh.“She’s forcing the merge,” Rhys yelled, saying behind Lerder and Lyra. “Elara’s bond with the Queen… it’s being hijacked.”“Then we rip her out,” Lerder growled, running faster, claws half-shifted, eyes burning.“She’ll fight you,” Lyra warned.“Then she’ll lose.” he barked. They found the clearing minutes later, it wasn’t just a clearing. Was a sanctum holy site scorched into blasphemy. Stone pillars rose like broken ribs from the earth, forming a ring around the Queen’s sigil carved in bone-white ash. Candles of black flame floated midair, and in the center was Elara. She floated above the ground, arms limp, head tilted back, her hair whipped by massive wind. Anya stood just below, chanting with a scroll of skin in one hand, an

THE BOND THAT BLEEDSThe moon didn’t rise, it bleed.Steel met steel. Elara fought wild, every strike echoing pain, betrayal.“Why?” she screamed, dodging a deadly tone.“Because I loved you!” Anya cried. “And you chose him.”Lerder froze, his heart bleed in pain hearing does words.Elara’s hand trembled. “You…”“She made me a promise,” Anya whispered. “That if I delivered you, I could keep you.” Tears fell like fire.Elara’s power surged. Anya screamed, tossed back by a pulse of raw magic.“I’ll see you again,” Anya voiced. “At the altar.” The will to keep fighting linger in his voice. She ran away, then vanished into thin air.Lerder touched Elara’s cheek. “Even your enemies love you.”“Then why do I feel so alone?” Chaewon uttered.Up above, thunder cracked with a voice not of weather, but of judgment. The Citadel beated like a heart too full of venom. And Elara felt it, every breath she took inside these walls, the prophecy went tighter around her ribs like a noose made of fate.“

THE BREATH OF STONE “Do we go in loud or silent?” Elara asked.Lerder pulled her close, said. “Together.”Inside, the walls are shadows. Whispers crawled through the halls. Elara’s pendant burned against her skin.“HELP!” Rhys’s voice, raw, echoing through bone. They ran down a tunnel of skulls and screams, until they found him—shackled, carved with sigils.“Don’t touch the chains!” Rhys yelled. “They’re linked to…”BOOM. A wave of darkness exploded from him.Elara and Lerder was thrown back, her eyes wide in horror.“It’s not just a gate,” Rhys sobbed. “It’s a resurrection chamber. They’re bringing HER back.”“Who?” Elara whispered.“Your mother.”“This place is alive,” Lyra muttered, hand hovering over her blade.“No,” Elara said, her voice cold. “It’s awake.”Lerder, leading the way down a spiral staircase carved into obsidian. “We’re walking in a body... The Citadel is a vessel.”“For the Queen?” Rhys asked, hiding behind them, sweat beading across his pale skin.“No,” Elara whis

THE BLACK CITADELThunder boomed over the Carpathians like a divine warning. The Citadel was slashed by rain as Elara ran along beside Lerder, wet to the skin, breathing in short, sharp breaths."We're close," Lerder muttered, his jaw squeezed, his voice hardly audible above the storm."Too close," she expressed. The air vibrated with a heartbeat, a false, ancient, and hungry energy. They stepped into a very dark place, barely visible.__BLACK CITADEL FORTRESS__Moved into the mountainside, the fortress was full of bleeding shadows. The spires wrestle up towards a storm-tormented sky, windows made with deep mirrors, walls as tall as mountains, with heavy stones and marbles. As Lerder and Elara crossed into enemy territory. The walls transformed here, trees, the air into dark magic. Every step toward the Black Citadel was a dare to fate.“I still think this is a trap?” Elara asked, eyes narrowed with curiosity.Lerder didn’t answer. His eyes were locked ahead, mouth tight, every muscle

ASHES AND OATHSFlames engulfed whatever remained of holy ground, twisting shadows that leaped like ghosts on fallen stone. The heavens wept up above, with ash dulling starlight. The war had left its mark, leaving scars.Elara's knees buckled in the blood-soaked ground as she cradled Kael's motionless body. His chest rose and fell by a mere fraction. The blood on her hands was warm, still fresh."Stay with me," she panted, struggling for breath. "Please, Kael. Don't leave me. Not yet.” Elara said.Kael's eyes flickered open—barely a flicker of life. His lips twisted into a faint smile. "Still got one last. fight in me."And his body became still."No!" Elara's shout tore through the shattered stillness, raw and heartbreaking, ringing out over the devastated battle ground.Lerder lurched forward over towards her, blood dripping from a cut on his forehead, his sword clanking by his side. "Elara. We have to go. Now."She did not hear him. She was focused on the silence in Kael's chest.

SHATTERED BONDS Flames curled up in the sky as the sanctuary trembled beneath the power that was released. The air was charged with tension and the firelight flashed on the stone walls, creating outrageous shadows. Elara leant back on the charred rock, her heart pounding, breath short."Lerder!" she shouted, coughing through the smoke. He appeared through the blood running down his arm, his sword dragging against the ground."You have to get to the eastern passage. Now." Lerder whispered, with low voice.Chaewon shook her head. "Not without you."His eyes locked on hers—those storm-gray eyes, now weary but burning with something deeper. Love, regret, and purpose."Elara, if you stay, we both die. And the prophecy dies with us." Lerder uttered, pain filled his words."Then we die together." Chaewon responded. He spoke under his breath. "Damn it, Elara."Before he could speak again, a guttural roar shattered the moment. Malak emerged from the crumbling entrance, wings unfurled, eyes bl
