"I am starving, Len." I didn't know when the words came out. But it wasn't even food I wanted. No, it was way far from food. Lena... was doing something to me. Lena narrated to me for the fifteenth time in a row how she tackled the intruder to the floor, her voice loud and excited as she paced her living room. Honestly, I stopped listening even before she finished it the first time. All I focused on was the way her tiny booty shorts clung to her curvy hips, the skin-tight crop top that stopped just underneath her boobs, riding up to show her bare midriff, and how her full lips moved with each word, hitting me with a hunger I couldn't shake. "Then I just grabbed the lamp and told him if he moved, I'd bash his brains in!" Her hair was packed up in a messy bun, her glasses perched on her nose as she demonstrated some weird karate move, punching the air with ferocity. The way her hips moved as she paced made the blood rush ten times faster in my veins. I shifted uncomfortably on her worn sofa, trying to focus on anything but the sway of her body. "Alex? Are you even listening to me?" She stopped, hands on those curvy hips, head tilted to the side. "Yeah, of course. Lamp, brains, real badass… you're killing me here." These thoughts of her… What the hell was happening to me? Was I just noticing how hot my best friend was after being together for almost ten years? I've seen Lena in bikinis countless times. Hell, I even helped her with that swimwear photoshoot last summer, holding the reflector while she posed. Not once did I feel this pull, this magnetic attraction that's making it hard to breathe. Maybe it's the way her breasts press together in that crop top. Or how her smooth thighs catch the light of her apartment when she moves. Or maybe I'm just sex-starved and my body is reacting to any attractive woman in proximity. But this is Lena. My best friend. I dropped everything when she panic called at 10:45 PM. It's past midnight now, and I'm sitting in her cluttered one-bedroom apartment, strategically positioning myself to hide the growing evidence of my inappropriate thoughts. "You said you were hungry, right? You want something to eat? I could make us some of those nachos you like, or even pasta," Lena offered, already walking toward her kitchen. I couldn't help but stare at her ass as she moved. The curve of it, the way it filled out those shorts perfectly. God, I want to bend her over that counter and paint those pretty thick thighs with— I stopped myself, horrified at the direction of my thoughts. Is Lena doing this on purpose? Does she know the effect she had on me? Because this girl was definitely swaying her hips more than she normally did. But when our eyes locked for a second while she pulled open her cabinet, she seemed oblivious to the fact that her little actions were seducing me. I felt terrible for having thoughts like that about my innocent best friend. I knew what her ex did to her in the past, how he abused her, and now I felt even worse. I was no better than him, objectifying her when she needed a friend. I stood up and followed her to the kitchen, needing to clear my head. "Stop cooking, Len. It's late. I'm not actually hungry." I leaned against her counter, watching as she turned on the tap. "You said you were starving," she inched closer to me. Her bare shoulder brushed mine, sending a shock up my arm. I flexed my fingers, itching to grab her waist, but held back as her fruity shampoo filled my lungs. I need to bury my face in that hair. I want to throw off those glasses and taste those lips. Just grab her face and kiss her until neither of us can breathe. I could do it. Right now. Just take what I want and deal with the consequences. But there's Nancy. Nancy, my fiancée, who trusts me completely. Sweet, kind Nancy who's planning our wedding while I'm here having inappropriate thoughts about my best friend. I'm a fucking mess. "I should go," I announced, shoving my hands into my pockets to make my pants cover my bulge. "It's late and Nancy's definitely wondering where I ran off to." Lena's face fell slightly, but she nodded. "Yeah, of course. Thanks for coming over, Alex. My hero." She punched my arm playfully. Despite everything, I laughed. This is what Lena does—cut through my tension with that easy smile, make me forget I run a billion-dollar company, that I have responsibilities waiting, that I'm engaged to Nancy. "Change your locks tomorrow," I said, moving toward the door. "And maybe consider moving to a better neighborhood. This place is a deathtrap." "On my salary? Please. Not all of us are billionaire CEOs with penthouses." She rolled her eyes, following me to the door. "I'd give you a raise if you'd stop sneaking out early on Fridays to get your nails done." "You wouldn't know about that if you weren't secretly watching me all the time," she teased. If only she knew how true that was becoming. At the door, I turned to say goodbye, only for Lena to press her sexy body against mine in a tender hug. Her arms wrapped around my waist, her face buried in my chest. Shit. Now I was sure she could feel my cock pressing against her stomach. I froze, not daring to breathe. "What do I say?" I thought in panic, willing my body to behave for just a few more seconds. "Alex?" She looked up at me with those innocent eyes. "W-Why are you hard?"Kreed laughed and stood up. He picked up the baseball bat he had been holding and threw it to Tyse.“Beat Killian to death with it, and I’d let you live. You did nothing to offend me, did you?”Mayeli’s eyes widened.“What?” Tyse asked.“You know it’s either you or him, right? Or mostly both. So why don’t you save yourself?”Mayeli thought of what to do to buy time. Of course, no one was coming to save them, since Kreed said he had taken care of the police, but she had no other option. She couldn’t watch what was about to happen. She’d rather die first.“Kreed, when did you become this evil? There’s still a way out of this, you don’t have to commit more murders.”Kreed laughed for a long time, and when he stopped, he faced Mayeli. “The day your father burnt down my family, he created an unrepentant monster. I only trained the monster. First I worked with the CIA, then with the FBI, then as a special intelligence security agent, and when I was convinced I had learnt everything I wanted
Mayeli and Killian turned to see Kreed standing a few feet from them. He was wearing the same outfit he had been wearing this morning before she had left him. Black turtle-neck top, black trousers, black boots and a dark brown long coat. But this time there was something different. He was wearing black gloves. But that wasn’t it. What was he doing here? How did he know she was here? She told no one.Kreed took a step forward, and Killian immediately reached for his pocket.Kreed was faster. “Let me borrow your words. I won’t dare if I were in your shoes because I’ll shoot you down without hesitation. Now rid yourself of your weapons and don’t try to play smart.”Killian did as he was told.Mayeli couldn’t believe her ears. This was Kreed, right? Or did he have a twin? Or perhaps was this a replica of him? Or cloning? She didn’t understand. Why was Kreed pointing a gun at them?“Kreed. What’s happening? I don’t understand.” But Mayeli was beginning to understand. She recognized the loo
“You should drive faster!” Killian barked at Tyse.“At this rate, we’d probably die in an accident before we get to her,” Truce screamed.Killian turned to him. “Do you deserve to live?”Truce shook his head. “No. Tyse, drive faster!”He was still mad at his friends for abandoning Mayeli when he was away for the stupid reasons they gave. He had trusted them to take care of her while he was away, but they had done just the opposite. They had begged and apologized severally, but he wasn’t forgiving them yet. He’d make them work for their forgiveness, and so far, they’ve been doing just that.“Maybe you should take the wheel!” Tyse barked at Truce. “I’ll drive faster, Killian,” he replied, Killian with a smile.“If that bitch, Shaila so much as touch my woman, I won’t hesitate to strangle her with my hands”, Killian said through his teeth. How could he have missed the signs? He had known Shaila wasn’t the sister she pretended to be, and he had known she was still obsessed, but he didn’t
“I don’t understand,” Mayeli said, carefully. Shaila was getting drunk, and Mayeli feared what she would do to her. At the moment, she wasn’t the woman Mayeli had known all her life, she was a wounded animal seeking blood.“I met Killian in our second grade. He was two levels higher than me, so we never really talked. Everyone loved him, everyone wanted him, and I wanted him more than any of them. And one day, I went home after school and he was with his parents in our house. Father had introduced them as his friends and ours, and had told us they were going to have dinner with us.I still remembered how overjoyed I had been that day. I had asked my maid, Nisha, to make me the prettiest little girl ever, and during dinner, I did everything to get Killian’s attention, but he didn’t care. He didn’t even notice my hair or dress or anything, but I didn’t give up. After dinner, he talked to me, he told me my dress was pretty and he liked my tiara. I was so overjoyed that I couldn’t sleep t
Mayeli typed Killian’s office floor number on the elevator keypad, 67.She could hardly wait as the box took her upwards. She hadn't met Killian since that day at the mall and she couldn't wait to see him. Her heart was racing already, and she could feel a hunger in her lower belly, a hunger he had awakened. The elevator stopped and the doors slid open. Mayeli stepped out eagerly, heading for the last building on the floor. When she reached, she rang Killian’s office doorbell. No one answered. She rang it again, but nothing. Thankfully, she knew the key pass.“I'm coming in,” she said, and pushed the door open. Surprisingly, the office was empty. The office was just the way Mayeli remembered, the same. White high walls, one glass wall showing off the breathtaking view of the City of London, a large oak table and a chair behind it and two in front. A mini-parlour of four black cushions and a white table, and lastly a glass shelf holding Killian's books, magazines, trophies, and aw
Mayeli braided the last strand of her sister’s hair slowly, listening to Bryelle’s tale of her latest BTS crush, Jungkook, and laughing. Her daughter was crushing on celebrities already.“I have a shoot with V soon, he might not be your favourite, but you should come,” Shaila said.Bryelle shook her head. “I want just him, no one else.”Shaila laughed. “Suit yourself.” She turned to Mayeli. “Be fast would braids, babe, I need to be somewhere soon.”Shaila had been going out more frequently recently, and she never said where she was going, no matter how many times Mayeli asked. Mayeli decided to let her be. She would come around when she wanted to.The doorbell rang, and Bryelle went to get it. She returned a few minutes later.“Mom, it’s Kreed.” She walked past them into her room. Shaila turned to Mayeli with a stupid smile on her face. “Your husband is calling.”Mayeli frowned, tossing her hair behind her. “His not my husband, stop with the joke.”Shaila laughed. “I have somewhere t
