Damien's POV

It was a few minutes past the hour 8 p.m. There were still a few things I needed to take care of before the next day. I grabbed my laptop and sat behind my study desk, and got to work. I am glad my pups were okay. I focused on the company file. It had only been a couple of minutes since I started working. I felt a sharp pain in my chest. I clenched my chest and suddenly bent over, in reaction to the pain.

Our mate is in trouble again. Kai said, and I stood up immediately.

I exited my room, and before I could proceed any further, I heard some noise coming from Ariana's room. I pushed the door open and found Victoria lying on her back, on the floor, and Ariana was curled up with her head suspended just a couple of inches above the floor. I tried to find out what was happening, and Victoria stood up. She started complaining to me about Ariana, but I felt uncomfortable. I knew immediately Ariana was in pain. I angrily yelled at Victoria, and she exited the room. I went to at

  • The Chosen Human Luna   Chapter 122: Getting the Phoenix Ash

Ariana's POVI gulped, looking at the creature dead in the eye. We found the Phoenix Ash. Now, how do we get it? My heart raced in my chest as the bird screamed at us. The air remained choking, and fire tore across the cliff. We need to do something. Michael and the rest remained in their human form, all seven of us staring at the bird, who stood between us and what we wanted."Do you think negotiating with this bird would work?" I asked Michael, my eyes fixated on the bird, who occasionally screamed at us, but made no effort to move away from the nest sitting behind it."Ms Brown, I am glad you can make jokes at the brink of death," Michael replied, and I wondered why I even asked such a stupid question. Michael shifted and growled at the beast, and the creature screamed back at Michael. Before I could say anything, Michael leapt into the air, heading for the beast"Michael," I screamed his name. The beast opened its wings of flame and flapped them forward. Balls of fire were shot a

  • The Chosen Human Luna   Chapter 121: Finding the Phoenix Ash

Ariana's POVI put the root powder into the leather pouches and we exited the cave. I realised I had lost four of the wolves in the fight. I climbed onto Michael's back, who had shifted into his wolf again, and we headed back to where we had parked the car. Once we arrived, I got down from Michael's back and walked straight towards the car out of the woods. I opened the back seat and climbed into it. I got the bag of clothes and I took it back into the woods and placed it under one of the trees, and left so Michael and the rest could shift and dress up. I returned to the car and climbed back into the back seat. I picked up my phone and connected it to the power bank. I unlocked the screen and checked on Damien. He was still lying down the same way we had left him the previous day. Kevin was not in his seat. I moved between cameras and found him speaking to Dr Francis at the door. "I wish this thing had a sound to it," I murmured and moved back to the camera that was focusing on Dam

Ariana's POV."Now we go find the silverroot powder," Michael said. "We are going to the dark mountain," he said."That is fine, alert Dr Francis, the moonflower nectar is on the way to him," I said to Michael, and I recalled his things are in the bag I was carrying. "Never mind, I would do that," I said, and retrieved my phone. "Dr Francis, we got the first ingredients. The moonflower nectar. The guard is bringing it," I said on the call."Yes, Ms Brown," he replied, sounding like he just woke up from sleep. "I am sorry for waking you up." I apologised."That is fine," he said, and the call ended. "Ms Brown, I suggest we rest and continue at sunrise," Michael said. "We will need our energy to fight the wolves, the next ingredient would attract," he added, and I held on to my protest. "Fine, where do we rest? We are in the middle of the forest. Our cars are parked miles away from here," I asked. "There is a cave in that mountain," Michael said, and I gave them their clothes from

Ariana's POV"No, Ms Brown, it's too dangerous," Michael said to me."Michael, I can't sit here and do nothing. I can't sit here and watch Damien slowly drift away without doing anything. I want to go out there and do everything to find those ingredients," I said, my pain evident in my voice and my determination so strong in my eyes."Ms Brown, he is my alpha, and I have worked with him for many years before he met you. I can't say I understand your pain, because we both have a different relationship with him, but I will also do everything within my power, up to laying down my life for my alpha. It is my responsibility to protect his luna in his absence. And this is why I can't let you go out there into the woods with me. You will be safe here, my luna," Michael said."Good, it's your responsibility to protect me, your luna," I said with teeth clenched while tears streamed down my face. "How can you protect me when you are out there and I am here, exposed to anyone who might sneak up

Ariana's POVDamien and I arrived at the company and we went up to the office. Everything was okay until I noticed how restless Damien looked. I drew closer and touched his forehead. He was burning with fever. "Damien," I called out to him, but he just stared at me with droopy eyes. "Damien, are you alright?" I asked, but I was met with his silence. "Damien, what is wrong with you?" I asked, as I tried to steady him in his seat, because he was now all over the place. Eventually, he fell off the seat and I couldn't stop him. I called out to Michael, and he quickly rushed in."I don't know what is wrong with him," I reported to Michael, and he quickly stooped down to check on him."Oh my god, his being poisoned," Michael said, and I frowned."Poisoned?" I repeated the word as it sounded strange to me. "When? How?" I asked multiple questions at the same time."It's wolfbane. We need to get him to the hospital immediately," Michael said and pulled his phone out of his pocket."Get in, a

  • The Chosen Human Luna   Chapter 117: Damien and Ariana Argued

Damien's POVI returned home from work and was shocked by what I heard. Since when did cats become friends with rats, or Lions become friends with tigers? I rub my ears, trying to convince myself I'm hearing things. "Michael, do you hear that happy chatting?" I asked."Alpha, I do. It sounds like Ms Brown and Ms Victoria are having a good time in the living room," Michael replied. With Michael's reply, I moved into the living room and to my horror, I saw Ariana and Victoria watching a movie together, with a jar of drink and popcorn sitting on the table. Victoria was sitting on the floor with her back resting on the front rail of the three-in-one couch, with a bowl of popcorn sitting on her lap. And Ariana was lying on the same couch, picking popcorn from Victoria's bowl."What is going on here?" I asked, interrupting the scene that looked like something that could only happen in a movie. It's only been 8 hours, I left the house, and we both know Victoria, my father and Demitri are
