Ariana's POV

Jeremy took me into a small room full of boxes. He had told me the room was a place where the company kept items it no longer needed. He told me he brought me there so we could talk. He was ready to listen to me now. I told him everything about how I got pregnant and even told him who the father of my child was. I realised he was finding it hard to believe. He just accepted it and asked me if I wanted us to get back together.

When he asked me that question, it got me thinking. I am married to Damien, and he said I am his fated mate. He finds me easily, like he has a tracker on me. Damien hates humans, but he doesn't hate me. After seeing the trouble I was going to face, as his wife, I wanted to leave. I don't know how we got married, but if his father said the marriage had been annulled, I thought it was the best time to leave, but hearing Jeremy ask, I feared what Damien would do to him if I left with him.

"Jeremy, I think, it's too late for us. I had thought we could get back together. But he always finds me. It doesn't matter where I am. He finds me. I don't want him to harm you because of me. Jeremy, please move on and live your life," I replied to his question and read the surprise look in his eyes.

Jeremy asked me if I still loved him. I searched within me. I realised I didn't. The love I have for him was gone. All I think about now is Damien. I don't know how that happened so fast, but Jeremy was no longer in my heart. I replied honestly. He then asked if we could be friends, and I replied, telling him I would think about it.

I exited the room and was about to leave when a thought hit me. There was something off about Jeremy's behaviour. Twice, I had tried to explain what happened to me, but he was so angry, he called me names and didn't want to listen to me. So what changed? What made him listen to me this time? He also sounded like he wanted us to come back together. Or like he wanted to be close to me now. I only had one question on my mind: why?

I see danger everywhere. Damien promised to protect me, but I am up against a family of wolves, who do not want me as a wife to Damien. Now, Jeremy suddenly wants me back. Something inside tells me it wasn't for the right reason.

The door opened, and Jeremy stepped out. He was surprised I was still there. I told him I was scared, and he hugged me. I broke down, wondering how my life became a nightmare I couldn't wake up from. In my sorrow, I felt Jeremy's hand squeezing my butt. I pushed him but he only stopped squeezing my butt, but wouldn't let go. He admitted he still loves me. I saw him leaning forward, so I turned my head away, and he ended up grabbing my hair.

"I am sorry. I was carried away. Please forgive me," he apologised, and I felt I was to blame.

"It's okay. I drag you into it. I would leave," I said and freed myself from him.

I left the place and headed for the cafeteria. I got the coffee and headed for the elevator. As soon as I got to the elevator, a lady walked up to me. She was elegantly dressed.

"This is Alpha Damien's private elevator, you can't use it," she said.

"I am his PA. I am taking this coffee to him. He asked me to use the elevator," I explained.

"Alpha Damien doesn't have a PA. Whoever you are, you can't use this elevator. So move, before I call security," she yelled.

"Fine, I will use the staircase," I said and walked towards the staircase, wondering who the lady was.

"I am not done talking, and you are leaving," she called after me, and I stopped.

"Is there anything else you want from me?" I faced her and asked.

"What are you? A human or a werewolf? Your scent is weird," I heard her say, and I knew immediately she was a wolf.

"Does it matter?" I asked calmly. "Last I checked, this company welcome everyone to work here," I added.

She smiled and stared briefly at her phone. I turned around and decided to leave, but she pulled me back using my hair. The coffee in my hand spilt, burning my hand in the process. When I turned around to face her, she slapped me, causing what is left of the coffee to spill into my dress.

"This is a warning from Alpha Leo Dakota. Stay away from the Dakota family if you want to live. Remember, accidents happen," she said, gave me a mischievous smile, and walked towards the exit.

I stood there holding my cheek and stared at her back as she walked away. The people at the reception did nothing to help, and equally, the people going about their duties pretended like they saw nothing. They all ignored what was happening.

"Ariana, who was that, and why did she attack you like that?" I heard Jeremy's voice, drawing my attention to him.

"It's nothing," I replied, and started walking towards the staircase.

"Ariana, let me help you," Jeremy called after me.

"I will be fine," I repeated and descended the staircase, recalling I needed to get Damien a cup of coffee.

I went to the cafeteria, and Jeremy followed me. I got another cup of coffee.

"Jeremy, I promise. I will be fine," I said to Jeremy and exited the cafeteria, leaving Jeremy staring at my back as I walked away.

I used the staircase and ended up on the 8th floor. I walked towards Damien's office. I thought of what to say if Damien asked me about my burned hand and the coffee-stained dress. I knocked once and tried to enter, only to realise the door was locked.

I stayed in the corridor, holding the coffee in my hand. I started pacing up and down. I don't know how long I was standing there, but I heard voices in the corridor. Soon, Damien and Michael's faces appeared from the corner of the wall.

"Have you been standing here for long?" Damien asked, and his gaze fell on my burned hand. "What happened to your hand?" he asked, took the coffee from my hand and handed it to Michael.

He examined my hand.

"It's nothing. I accidentally spilt the coffee on my hand and it stained my clothes," I replied, and he stared at my face.

"And after, you slapped yourself across the face?" he asked, and my hand went to my cheek. "Ariana, who did this to you?" he asked, and I lowered my head.

I couldn't tell him, because I didn't know who the lady was. She had only mentioned Damien's father's name, but what if she is some random person who decided to attack me? I thought, even though I knew that was naive thinking.

"Michael, get me the footage of what happened at the cafeteria and its surroundings?" Damien said to Michael, and I panicked.

What if Damien sees me with Jeremy? He might harm Jeremy.

"No need. I would tell you," I quickly said before Michael could leave.

"Who did this to you?" Damien asked.

"It was a lady. She told me it was a warning from your father. She left the building after. It happened right in front of the staircase," I quickly reply.

"Have you seen her before?" Damien asked, and I shook my head.

"Michael, I want the footage from the camera around the reception. I want to know who that girl is. Find her," Damien said, taking a small bag from Michael.

He took me into the office and sat me down on the couch. He went away and returned with a first aid kit. He sat down next to me and opened the first aid kit. He paused and closed it. I was wondering what he was doing. He put his thumb into his mouth and bit it.

"What are you doing?" I asked.

"I am a healer. An ability that could only be awakened by my fated mate. You awakened that ability in me," Damien said, and I didn't know what to make of his statement. "Just watch," he said.

He touched my burned hand with the thumb he had bitten. He closed his eyes, and his hand began to glow white. I stared with my eyes wide open. When the glow went away, my hand was no longer hurting. It was as if I had never been burned by a hot cup of coffee.

"You healed my back?" I asked, and he nodded

"Here is your phone," Damien said, handing me a box. "Open it," he added.

I opened it and indeed, there was a phone inside.

"I have already saved my number on it. I will be going for a meeting during the weekend. I am not sure if I could take you along or not. It's a meeting of Alphas. No human allowed in there. Use this to reach out to me in case of anything," he said.

"Thank you," I appreciated.

We both heard a knock, and Michael entered the office. He walked up to Damien and handed him a pen drive.

"Alpha, I got you the footage. It was Aurora," Michael reported.

"You know what to do," Damien said, and I shifted my gaze to Damien.

"Yes, Alpha," Michael replied and left.

"Who is Aurora?" I asked curiously.

"Victoria's little sister," Damien replied, and pulled me into his arms.

"What are you going to do to her?" I asked, resting my head on his shoulder, as he wrapped his arms around me.

"Send a reply back to whoever sent her. You are my mate, and nobody can mess with you," Damien replied, traces of anger evident in his voice.

I only wondered what he would do to her.

Jeremy's POV"Would you take me back, knowing I am carrying Alpha Damien's child?" Ariana asked me, and I stared at her, wondering what she took me for. This girl must think I am stupid. She wants me to take her back. I thought. But come to think of it, why would she say Alpha Damien is responsible? I thought, but it quickly hit me. There was no way I could confirm her story. Wow! Ariana, you are smart with your lies. I thought, but I kept a straight face. I will play along till I get her in my bed."You are my woman, and I still love you," I said. "My only problem is, it's Alpha Damien we are talking about. How do I hide you from him?" I asked, trying to see if she had already planned a way to escape, whoever the father of the child she is carrying is. She went silent. I patiently waited, believing she was thinking of something."Jeremy, I think, it's too late for us. I had thought we could get back together. But he always finds me. It doesn't matter where I am. • The Chosen Human Luna   Chapter 56: It's Too Late - Part 1

Jeremy's POVI was still mad at Ariana for cheating on me, but seeing her again, I wish I had never married Melody. It's only been four days since I started working in the company, and I have had the opportunity to see Ariana twice. She looked more beautiful than before. Even though I wished I had never married Melody, there was nothing I could do about it. She was already six weeks pregnant, and I am responsible. That mistake I made six weeks ago, allowing my desire to take the better of me.This was all Ariana's fault. If she had allowed me to touch her, instead of playing Virgin Mary, waiting to be married before, I wouldn't have yielded to Melody's seduction. That day, I was horny. I went to Ariana, and she was not ready. I left the apartment to cool off at a nearby club, and that was when I ran into Melody. I had always known, Melody's fight with Ariana was just because she liked me, but I was with Ariana. Melody did attempt to drug me, but I saw it, so I didn't take that drink

  • The Chosen Human Luna   Chapter 55: Do You Have a Death Wish?

Ariana's POV"Damien, you can't take away a girl's virginity and expect another man to accept her like that. If you didn't want to marry her, you should have kept your pants zipped up," I heard Alpha Leo say, and I stared at Victoria, sitting directly opposite us, looking all pitiful."Damien, at first, I wanted to be with you because I like you, but I realised you didn't, so I decided to keep my distance, waiting to see if you like me for me or because of the mate bond. That was why I was mostly not around," I heard Victoria say. "I am sorry for everything I did, I only did them because I loved you. That night, I came into your room after reflecting on what you told me. I wanted to inform you that I was going back home, but you grabbed me and wouldn't let go. I may be in the entertainment industry, but I kept myself away from men. Now, you have taken that away from me," she ended her statement in tears. My heart went out to her. I shifted my gaze to Damien, only to find him rolling h

  • The Chosen Human Luna   Chapter 54: You Must Take Responsibility

Ariana's POVDamien's proposal left me shocked. Everything was happening so fast, I really couldn't understand. Yes, I liked him when I first saw him, but now, it's like he suddenly cares about me, not because of the pregnancy. And I don't know what kind of cologne he is using now, but I believe it has an aphrodisiac effect. I have never felt this before, to the extent that I can't even control myself. What does he want from me? I thought as we exited the room. What is all this about? I thought. He wouldn't let go of my hand, and it was like he didn't care who saw us walking hand in hand like lovers. With my thoughts trying to figure out what was happening to me, my desires were kept at bay, and I felt normal. We were soon outside, and I wanted to go to the SUV, but he pulled me towards his car, opened the door for me, and I got inside, still wondering what was happening. Inside the car, sitting so close to him, the feeling started again. His scent was so comforting, yet it aroused

  • The Chosen Human Luna   Chapter 53: I would Gladly Step Down

Damien's POVI lay on the bed with Ariana sleeping in my arms. I have never felt this way about a woman before. I felt complete with her. She was truly my mate. I stared at the cane injuries on her back and remembered something my mom told me when I was 13 years old. She told me there are healers in her family line. It comes as a blessing, and one lucky child becomes a healer. It sounded so fascinating. An ability to heal others. It was an ability I yearned for. Not because I wanted to be special, but because of my human best friend, Jayson. We met in school. He was always sick. He spends half a day in school and the rest of the day in the hospital. He was unable to participate in any school activities because he would end up having episodes and end up in the hospital. I wanted to be a healer so that I could heal him. I felt so sad when I saw him sitting all alone during fun games. Sometimes, I stop playing and just sit by him, so he won't feel left out. My mom had told me I was a sp
