Andrew's POV

I watched Sage, the silence between us stretching taut and heavy. I knew she was lying. Her eyes, filled with a conflict I had seen before, gave her away. The way she was avoiding my gaze, the way her hands were clasped so tightly her knuckles were white. It was all so familiar.

"Sage," I said, my voice quiet, a stark contrast to the storm brewing inside me. "I'm not a petty person, but we can't build a new beginning on a foundation of lies. Not this time. We tried that before, and look what happened."

She looked at me, a flash of pain in her eyes. "I know, Andrew. I know you're right. I just... I don't know how to tell you."

My heart ached. I had told her I would be patient, that I would listen, but the disappointment was a physical ache in my chest. "Then don't tell me," I said, my voice flat. "Just... don't say anything. I'll just go."

I started to get up, a final, defeated gesture. She had chosen. She had chosen to keep her secrets and her lies, and I had no choice b

Sage's POV I sat there, the tears streaming down my face, the ache in my heart a sharp, physical pain. I had lost her. My best friend. My sister. My family. Her words, so cold and full of hatred, echoed in my mind. “You’re the one who keeps ruining my life, just because your life was ruined. Because you don’t have a real family who could give you the attention you crave.”She was wrong, but at that moment, it didn't matter. I had no fight left in me. I was broken, and there was nothing I could do to fix it. I sat in the silent living room, a prisoner of my own grief, until the sun began to set, casting long, distorted shadows on the walls. I had to see him. I had to see Andrew. I needed to know he was okay, to know he was safe. And I needed to apologize. For keeping a secret from him, for putting him in danger, for everything.I drove to his place, the silent, solitary journey a mirror of my own emotional state. My crutches were a constant reminder of the physical and emotional pai

Sage's POV My heart pounded in my chest, a frantic drumbeat of dread. It was him. Andrew had done it."Is that... is that something he would do?" I asked, my voice a strained whisper, my eyes still fixed on the screen. I knew the answer. I had seen the rage in his eyes.Pauline just stared at the television, her face pale, a haunted look in her eyes. She didn't say anything, but her silence was an answer in itself. A tear slipped down her cheek, and she finally looked at me, her eyes filled with a new kind of pain."Yes," she said, her voice barely audible. "He would."A long, weary sigh escaped my lips. I turned to go back to the kitchen, the weight of the world on my shoulders, but my leg, still weak and aching, gave out. I stumbled, my limp more pronounced than ever, and a sharp gasp of pain escaped my lips.Pauline's head snapped up. She had been so consumed by her own thoughts that she hadn't noticed my limp, but now it was impossible to ignore. Her eyes, filled with a new kind

  • The Coach's Forbidden Play   Chapter 125

Sage's POV I stood in the cold, silent library parking lot, my heart pounding in my chest as I watched Andrew's car disappear into the night. His words, so cold and full of anger, echoed in my mind. “I’m mad at you, Sage. I’m so mad at you.”I had made a mistake. I had chosen to protect Pauline, to protect her secret and in doing so, I had lost Andrew's trust. The fear that had been gnawing at me since I had told him the truth, the fear that he would go after Professor Benjamin, now turned into a full-blown panic. Andrew was a good man, but I had seen the rage in his eyes. The raw, primal fury that had made him unrecognizable. I knew he was capable of doing something terrible, something he would regret for the rest of his life. I had to stop him.I fumbled in my purse for my phone, my hands shaking so badly I could barely hold it. I called him, but it went straight to voicemail. I called again, and again, and again, my heart pounding with every ring. Nothing. He wasn't answering.Pan

  • The Coach's Forbidden Play   Chapter 124

Andrew's POV His face was a mask of sheer terror, a mix of panic and utter despair. He tried to bargain, his voice thick with a pathetic desperation. "My career! My life! You'll ruin everything! Please, I'll pay for your daughter's silence! I'll do anything! Please!"I just watched him, my expression unmoving. His pleas were nothing but noise, the pathetic final struggles of a cornered animal. My phone buzzed in my pocket, and I pulled it out. It was a text from the police. They were a few blocks away. The wait was almost over.I put the phone back in my pocket and stood up, my gaze fixed on him. "It's over, Benjamin. It's all over."A loud, insistent knock echoed through the house, followed by the sound of a police officer's voice. "Police! Open up!"I walked over to the front door, the pictures of the victims clutched tightly in my hand. I opened the door and two uniformed officers stood there, their expressions a mix of confusion and suspicion."Sir, we received an anonymous tip a

  • The Coach's Forbidden Play   Chapter 123

Andrew's POV My heart pounded in my chest, a frantic drumbeat. I wanted to kill him. I wanted to rip him limb from limb. The man who had taken advantage of my daughter, who had violated her trust, was lying right there like a pathetic, disgusting mess. I took a step toward him, my hands clenched into fists, a low, murderous growl escaping my lips.Just then, his eyes fluttered open. They were bleary and unfocused but they landed on me and a flicker of confusion crossed his face. "Who... who are you?" he slurred, his voice thick with alcohol. He tried to sit up, a clumsy, uncoordinated movement and stumbled to his feet. He swayed for a moment, his eyes narrowing as he finally registered my presence. "What are you doing in my house? Get out!"He took a step toward me, his movements slow and weak and swung a clumsy punch. I easily dodged it, a bitter, humorless laugh escaping my lips. This man, this pathetic excuse for a human being, thought he could fight me. The rage inside me boiled

  • The Coach's Forbidden Play   Chapter 122

Andrew's POV "What?" I said, the word a low growl. "He... he tried to do what?"The rage that surged through me was a fire, a blinding, all-consuming fury that made the world narrow to a single point: Professor Benjamin. The man who had dared to threaten my daughter, my sweet, beautiful Pauline. The man who had made her feel vulnerable, who had tried to take advantage of her. I couldn't think. I couldn't breathe. All I wanted was to find him, to make him pay for what he had done.I stood up, the chair scraping against the floor with a loud shriek, the sound nothing compared to the turmoil in my heart. I was out the door before Sage could react, but I heard her voice behind me, a frantic cry."Andrew, wait! Andrew!" she yelled, her voice filled with panic.I didn't stop. I couldn't. I had to get to him. I had to make him pay. I heard the frantic click of her crutches behind me, her clumsy attempts to follow, but I was already at my car, my hands fumbling with the keys. She reached me
