POV: Callum Miller

The echoes of what transpired in the garage workshop clung to my skin like a fever.

By late afternoon, the estate had settled into an eerie, fragile quiet. Harlan had left an hour prior to run errands in town, the roar of his SUV fading down the long gravel driveway and leaving behind a heavy, hollow stillness. I had spent the last hour in my room, staring at the ceiling, my chest still aching with the phantom pressure of Gideon’s thumb against my lip and his dark commands burning in my ears.

“Under this roof, you belong to your father during the day. But the second my eyes are on you, Callum... you answer to me.”

My thighs twitched under my dark jeans, a constant, agonizing heat pulsing deep in my belly. Unable to sit still any longer, I forced myself out of bed to carry a stack of fresh, folded linens down the second-floor corridor toward the built-in storage closet near the stairs.

The hallway was lined with tall mahogany paneling, the overcast afternoon light filtering through the stained-glass window at the far end and casting deep amber shadows across the carpet.

I reached the double doors of the linen closet, setting my hand on the brass latch.

Before I could pull the heavy door open, a soft, deliberate footstep creaked behind me.

I didn't even have time to turn around. A massive, towering wall of heat materialized directly at my back, completely cutting off the light. A broad, heavy chest pressed flush against my shoulder blades, trapping me firmly against the wooden closet door.

My breath hitched violently in my throat. The scent of pine soap, rain, and warm leather enveloped my senses in an instant.

"Captain..." I gasped, my voice trembling so hard the word was barely audible.

"Harlan's gone for the next two hours," Gideon’s low, gravelly baritone rumbled directly into the sensitive shell of my ear, sending a sharp wave of electricity crashing straight down my spine. "Which means you're mine without interruption."

Before I could gather the strength to answer, Gideon’s large, broad palm reached around my side. His heavy fingers slid smoothly beneath the hem of my fitted dark long-sleeve shirt, making direct, searing contact with the bare skin of my waist.

I let out a sharp, choked gasp, my head falling back against his broad shoulder.

His skin was thick, rough, and burning hot against my cool skin. His calloused fingers didn't just hover; they spanned the entire side of my torso, his heavy thumb pressing firmly into the soft dip above my hip bone…right over the crescent birthmark he had unlocked earlier.

"Look at how fast your heart beats the second I touch you," Gideon murmured softly, his hand sliding slowly upward over my ribs, his palm pressing flat over my chest.

Under his massive hand, my heart was hammering frantically, leaping against my ribs like a trapped animal. The sheer physical contrast between his massive, uncompromising strength and my delicate, shivering frame made my knees lock up, my body instinctively leaning back into his solid wall of muscle for support.

"Take a deep breath, sweet boy," Gideon commanded smoothly, his voice dropping into that smooth, velvety register that completely commanded my will.

I pulled in a frantic, shuddering gulp of air, my chest expanding against the firm pressure of his palm.

"Now hold it," Gideon rumbled, his grip tightening just enough to lock my ribcage in place. "Hold your breath. And don't make a single sound."

My eyes snapped wide open in the shadowed hallway.

The risk was staggering. Even with Harlan gone, the domestic staff could walk up the grand staircase at any moment. The wide second-floor corridor was completely exposed, open to the landing below. Anyone stepping into the foyer would look straight up and see Captain Gideon Sterling pinned back-to-chest against my shivering body, his hand buried deep under my shirt.

My lungs burned for air, but the absolute command in his voice kept my mouth firmly shut. I bit down hard on my lower lip, holding my breath, my entire body rigid with terrified, intoxicating obedience.

Gideon’s hand began to move.

Slowly, methodically, his broad palm dragged back down over my ribs, his rough thumb trailing across my warm skin, tracing a slow, deliberate path down toward my waistband. Every subtle friction of his calloused skin against my sensitive flesh sent waves of unbearable, liquid heat pooling directly between my thighs.

He squeezed my hip possessively, his heavy fingers digging in just enough to leave a phantom bruise, asserting total physical dominance over my body right there in the middle of the open hallway.

"So obedient," Gideon whispered against my ear, his rough jaw brushing against my temple. "Holding it so well for your Commander. Look at you trembling."

The sheer sensory overload…the intense fear of being caught, the agonizing burn in my lungs, and the possessive, unyielding heat of his hand beneath my clothes…completely overwhelmed my nervous system.

A hot, involuntary tear leaked from the corner of my eye, trailing down my flushed cheek. My vision blurred as I choked back a needy, whimpering sob, my thighs pressing together in a desperate, futile effort to ease the agonizing throb between my legs. I was drowning in him, completely paralyzed by the authority he held over my body.

"Good boy," Gideon rumbled, feeling the shudder that wracked my entire frame.

Slowly, he shifted his weight, his free hand reaching around my shoulder to grasp the brass handle of the linen closet door.

CLICK.

The heavy wooden door swung inward, revealing the dark, shadowed depths of the walk-in closet, smelling of fresh cotton, cedar, and darkness.

Without releasing his hand from beneath my shirt, Gideon maneuvered my trembling body backward into the pitch-black alcove, drawing me completely into the shadows as the door swung shut behind us.

I had barely gathered my wits, dried my hair, and pulled on a fresh button-down shirt before the front doorbell chimed, signaling an arrival that shifted the atmosphere of the entire estate.Downstairs in the formal dining room, the heavy mahogany table was set for four. Harlan sat at the head, looking immensely pleased with himself, while Kaelen Vance occupied the seat directly across from me. Kaelen was twenty-four, impeccably styled, and dripping with the casual arrogance of old local money. His family held major investments with my father’s firm, making him a frequent, uninvited presence whenever business crossed into social obligations.Gideon sat to my left, imposing and immaculate in a dark fitted sweater. His hair was slightly damp from his own quick wash, his massive fra

POV: Callum MillerThe heavy footsteps of my father echoed up the basement stairs, followed by the muffled snap of a heavy oak door closing on the main floor. The moment the latch clicked shut overhead, the tense silence in the basement gym shifted, charged with a thick, suffocating electricity that made my knees wobble beneath me.I pushed myself off the rubber exercise mat, my body trembling violently from the brutal conditioning routine. Sweat dripped off my brow, stinging my eyes, sticking my thin shirt to my chest and lower back. I couldn't look Gideon in the eyes as I gathered my towel. I needed water, steam, and distance before my shattered composure completely failed me in the middle of the basement.I retreated into the narrow basement bathroom, stepping straight into the shower stall. Turning the brass knobs, I let the hot water roar to life, instantly filling the enclosed tile space with thick, white clouds of steam. I stripped off my sweat-soaked workout clothes, letting t

But before I could even catch my breath, my father had summoned us both down to the lower level. Harlan stood at the foot of the stairs in his rolled-up sleeves, leaning against the doorframe with a mug of coffee in his hand, watching me with a critical eye."Look at you, Callum. You're pale, fidgety, and slouched over like a leaf," Harlan said, shaking his head with a stern sigh. "Living on campus has made you soft. Gideon, I want you to take him through a real tactical conditioning block. Put some discipline back into his spine before the semester kicks into high gear.""Understood, Harlan," Gideon replied smoothly, stepping into the middle of the rubberized mat.Gideon peeled off his dark polo shirt, tossing

POV: Callum MillerThe high-pitched whine of Kaelen’s sports car tearing down the gravel driveway faded into the distance, but the hot, poisonous knot in my gut refused to loosen. My hands were shaking so hard I could barely set the folded bath towels down on the hall console table. Every inch of my skin felt flushed, buzzing with a volatile mix of leftover jealousy, humiliated possessiveness, and the agonizing physical ache Gideon had built inside me since midnight.I couldn't stand being out in the open hallway where Harlan might walk by. I needed darkness, quiet, and a place to collect my shattered composure.I slipped into my father’s private study, retreating into the cool shadow of the floor-to-ceiling mahogany bookshelves. The room smelled of old leather bound volumes, polished walnut, and pipe tobacco. I leaned my lower back against the heavy wooden bookshelf, pressing my cold palms against the edges of the carved shelves, trying to slow my ragged breathing.I closed my eyes,

The memory of the morning protocol…the rhythmic tapping of Gideon’s mug, his heavy tactical boot pinning my ankle beneath the breakfast table while my father read the newspaper…was still burning vividly in my mind, keeping my core tight and my posture impeccably straight.A slick, navy-blue European sports car pulled up to the foot of the porch steps, its low bumper kicking up a spray of fine gravel. The driver's side door swung open, and Kaelen Vance stepped out onto the driveway. He was twenty-four, tall, exceptionally well-groomed, and radiating the effortless, obnoxious arrogance that came with belonging to one of the wealthies

The midnight edging session had left my core hyper-sensitive and throbbing, a constant, heavy physical reminder of the control Gideon had exerted over me under my own duvet. Every step I took down the back staircase sent a subtle shock wave of liquid heat straight up my spine, forcing me to tread carefully just to keep my knees from shaking.I stumbled into the bright kitchen, reaching blindly for a clean ceramic mug on the shelf above the coffee maker. My father was already seated at the head of the dark mahogany dining table, a half-empty cup of black coffee at his elbow and the morning newspaper spread flat before him.
