Chapter 2

We had stopped at a motel a few hours later to sleep, you know the ones you wouldn't trust with anything but maybe a meth deal? Yeah, it was one of those shit holes. We pulled in and parked the truck in the back, and Jack summoned our dog, Jameson, he's a hell hound, to guard the truck. We got into our room and Johnny fell asleep instantly after falling on his bed, I grabbed a blanket and took off my jacket and used it, with a pillowcase, as a pillow so that Jack could use the other bed, and after thirty, give or take, minutes he passed out too. I couldn't sleep, it was midnight so I stood up, took my jacket out of the pillowcase, and threw it on before stepping outside for a walk, I locked the door and immediately felt a cold wind blow and make my face numb. I shifted forms so my entire body was ablaze, and I walked towards the truck to check on Jameson. When I got to the truck I saw that J was asleep with a dart in his ass, 'that can't be comfortable' I opened a portal to hell and carried him to our room and set him on my bed, when I stepped back out I saw a masked figure watching me from afar, most likely the hunter that knocked out Jameson.

"Utor vestri iter ad inferos, pungit!" I yelled at him, most hunters spoke Latin, and while some demons were either scared of the Latin language, or some shit like that, I wasn't, and for good reason, I couldn't be exorcized or banished from the earth, hell, or if I wanted to go to heaven, heaven. The guy laughed and before I could do anything, vanished into thin air, 'the fuck?! what was that shit?!' I said, walking to where the hunter once stood, he really was gone, and I couldn't pick up on any kind of clue as to where he went. That did it, I got pissed off one too many times so I grabbed the closest thing to me, which happened to be a light pole, and ripped it out of the ground, I found my target in the form of a biker gang, I saw them coming, but they didn't see me. I threw the pole at them with all my energy and in spinning it hit every single one of them, knocking their bikes to the ground but more importantly, killing or severely injuring all of them, I walked over to the truck and took out a jerry can full of gas, and used it to draw a pentagram, igniting the gas I muttered a small chant and waited for a couple of minutes. The gas burned out and the bodies were charred to a crisp, and in the center of it all was my brother.

"Lucifer."

"Jake, what's going on kid?"

"I need your help figuring something out, Let's grab a couple of beers and chat this out," I said and we walked a quarter mile down the road to a pub that we had passed on our way up here. He got a glass of Fireball Whiskey, and I got a beer, while we waited for our drinks I explained the situation, how Jameson got shot with a tranq, the bar fight and the offer of assistance from Alexandria, and how Jack was acting when she was in the bar. The bartender came back with two cans of Lucifer's Brew, my favorite beer, but no mortal knew about it so I was confused when I looked up at the bartender I saw that he had a beard, big muscles on his arms, and his hoodie was covering horns, and I knew he wasn't mortal. He poured Lucifer some Fireball before leaving us be and I cracked open one of my beers and cheered with him before we both took a drink.

"Sounds like you found your mate." That made me spit out my drink, unfortunately, I was looking at him...and it put out his hair. I laughed and he relit his hair, drying the beer and making himself smell like cherry.

"That-No way, that's impossible!" I said, and he was laughing like he enjoyed seeing his younger brother confused, it took him a bit to calm down enough for him to make a reply speaking actual words.

"One, it is possible and two, it's just a hunch, it could be that Jack was just being a poof around her, but it could also be that he knows something you don't. Maybe, just maybe, he knows that Alexandria is your other half."

"As much as I want that to be true, it ain't, I would feel it if she were my mate."

"How old are you, again?"

"In human years? Twenty, I turn twenty-one in a couple of months before you ask."

"That explains it, well if it's true, don't let it cloud your better judgment, and just wait it out until then, have fun and keep wreaking havoc, folks in hell are loving it." He said, patted my back, and finished his whiskey, and with that, he opened a portal to hell at our feet, screams, and wails of pain temporarily filled the room, he stole my other beer and dropped down to hell. I finished my beer and walked back to the motel, thinking over what he had said, 'there is no way in hell that the mutt is my mate, I ain't the kind of person an alpha would be paired with, it doesn't make any sense. I got to the motel to see Jack outside looking around in a frantic, almost panicked way, I ran up to him and slapped him across the face.

"What's going on with you, man?" I said and he looked at me like he hadn't seen me in years.

"Where the fuck were you, ya cunt? I was searching the complex for twenty minutes trying to find your ass."

"I went to the bar with el Lucifer, wanted to get his take on something, is Johnny still asleep?"

"Yeah, c'mon, we need sleep tonight since we most likely are gonna get in Arizona at around five in the afternoon."

"Okay, dad," I said, mocking his worry, I walked inside and laid down in between the two beds again and fell asleep with my head on my mock pillow and fell asleep almost immediately. I "woke up" in my plane of hell and saw Jack shooting a guys fingers off as he tried to climb out of the pit, he hit the thumb, and pointer finger on one hand, and I took out one of my BFRs and shot the other guy's hand, dead center, causing him to fall with his hand in many pieces Jack turned around and gave me a "Seriously?!" look. He turned around and lit the pit and a giant mass of fire exploded out in the shape of a tornado, surrounding Jack and burning everyone inside the pit, this was punishment for the worst of the worst...and people I just didn't like, eternally struggling to get out of a pit filled with thermite, that's lit every once in a while that causes pain like no other.

"So, what'd you and Lucky L talk about?" Jack always called Lucifer that because whenever he lost to him in poker, Jack would say that he 'just got lucky because he's a sore loser. I joined him at the pit and watched the fucks squirm and writhe in pain, one guy was still trying to get out, and was at the second to last row...so I threw a rock at him so he fell back in, causing us both to crack a grin. We went and sat in our room, me on the bed and him in his chair, and I told him what Lucifer had told me, and how I was skeptical of it even being remotely true. He kept his eyes straight ahead avoiding eye contact, and I knew something was up, he never avoided eye contact with anyone. He'd fight anyone and anything, period, so to see him avoiding eye contact took me a second to process. "I don't know if that's true or not, until you turn twenty neither of us will know one hundred percent." He said then threw another ball of fire, this time it was past the pit and hit one of the hell hounds that was nibbling on some fuck wad's leg. It turned around and growled at us both, making us laugh because we couldn't care less, before going back to nibbling on the leg. We went back to our room and grabbed a beer, and started talking about plans for taking on the cartel when we were shaken awake by a loud noise and excessive heat.

We woke up to our room ablaze and Johnny fighting some masked goon, I stood up and grabbed the fucker and threw him through the closest wall to me, unfortunately spreading the fire. He stood up and ran out of the room and I left Johnny to put out the fire to go after him, Jack close behind me, the guy shifted into a wolf and that confirmed my suspicion, he bolted towards the forest and I stopped and stuck my arm out to stop Jack, who looked at me with a questioning look.

"If we follow that mutt, we're giving him the advantage, let's get out of here," I told him and we headed back to the hotel room, Johnny was gathering his stuff together and loading up the truck, and when he saw us without the punk he looked angry, he finished loading his stuff and we joined him just in time to see a cop car pulling into the parking lot. "Let's get outta here," I said and we loaded into the cab, pulling out of the lot, the cop car just stopped and a sheriff started talking to the guy that ran the hotel. Driving back onto I-35 we agreed not to stop to get anything to eat until we got out of Texas, which was about an hour or two of driving, so I and Jack decided to play poker. We bet forty bucks and a can of beer each, and after a few hours of driving, I ended up winning, and pocketed the cash but split the beer.

"When y'all are done drinking yourselves silly, we can pull off and grab some grub at this upcoming truck stop," Johnny said while pulling into a truck stop, while I filled the gas and Jack checked the tires, he was cleaning the windows and when we finished he parked the truck and we entered the diner in front of us. We sat down at a booth in the back, and Jack and I ordered a diet cola and Johnny ordered a sprite, I pulled out my phone and texted Derek to check how everything was going back home, and tell him what happened. We ordered breakfast and I stepped outside to answer my phone, and it was a call from the big man himself.

"What's going on, Der? You alright?"

"Yeah, is Johnny okay?" He asked and I laughed at his concern, I knew Johnny meant a lot to him, but it was just funny how protective he got sometimes, I waved at Johnny and he came outside. I gave him my phone and went back inside the diner, taking my seat I ordered my food and continued talking to Jack about our plan for the ambush when Johnny came back in and handed me my phone.

"Der wants to talk to ya," Johnny said and took a sip of his sprite, so I took my drink and left the diner to talk to him.

"What's going on, my man?"

"I know you're still out of the state but we need you to make a pit stop and don't worry I sent Jade and Nicki out to give you a hand, they said they'll meet you in Chandler. Hope you know where that is."

"Yeah, I know where they're talking about, what's the pit stop?"

"There's a military base about seven miles south of Phoenix, they recently got a shipment of heavily armored, huge firepower trucks, I think we could put those to good use if we could "convince" them to give 'em to us."

"I like it, I like it, but why use them, they ain't gonna be fast enough to be used for getaway a-"

"You leave that to Miguel and I, we'll ticker with it, see what we can do with 'em, with everyone and their demons you can get the entire shipment, but they're gonna shoot back, so be smart."

"Gotcha, talk later man."

"See ya!" He said and hung up, leaving me outside the diner considering what we could use these trucks for, and how much firepower we'd need to take them. I walked back inside to see Jack standing in the middle of the room choking some guy, half of the patrons looking angry and the other half looking like they couldn't care less, which effectively described how I felt about this situation. I jumped over the bar counter and grabbed a couple of bottles of cola and gave one to Jack and one to Johnny before sitting at our table.

"So, what happened this time, big back Jack in the box?"

"This guy called me fat!"

"...A-are you serious?!" I said, laughing and clutching my stomach, infecting Johnny and half the diner with laughter.

"No! This guy called Johnny a fairy and I'm too tired to put up with this kind of shit." Jack said and I signaled him to drop the guy, which he did, and then immediately threw him through a window outside the diner.

"That's how you take care of a poof, quick and efficient, not long and drawn out, that just wastes time and energy," I said and sat back down in the booth and started eating my food, and started explaining to them what Derek had told me.

"That's gonna be fun, so we got ten trucks to steal...from the U.S. Army? The same guys we swore never to attack...ever."

"We're not attacking them, and we won't kill or hurt them...much, we're just stealing their trucks."

"Alright, but what's so special about these trucks? Don't we got a bunch of pickups back home?"

"Yeah but those aren't meant to take bullets and explosives, these trucks may be able to go faster than the pickups, and can take more of a beating," I said as the waitress came back with another cola, I picked up a chunk of my steak and ate it, but based on the looks the waitress and the bartender were giving me, I was being really gross. I swallowed it and started laughing, I couldn't help it, it was way too funny to see people who have never seen someone inhale a steak before.

"That's really gross, like utterly disgusting." the waitress said while staring at me in horror like I just ate another human being in front of her.

"Said your mother, when she saw you for the first time," I said and went back to eating my hash, ignoring the glares I got from the dining staff. My Jack and Johnny had finished their food and were laughing their asses off, I signaled for them to go get in the cab and that I would be out there in a few minutes. I paid for our meal and went to the bathroom, before leaving the diner and meeting them in the cab. They were listening to some talk show host, and when I got inside, they muted the radio and Johnny started the truck.

"Alright, boys, let's get going," Johnny said and I could tell that Shane, his demon, was the one driving, probably because Johnny was tired, and got onto I-35. I told Jack I was gonna get some sleep, he told me he'd wake me up when we get to New Mexico, I curled up and fell asleep. Waking up in hell, I sat in my chair and started shooting pots out of the air, and throwing fireballs at random things, trying to pass the time while I was bored. What felt like twenty-five minutes in hell, was actually five and a half hours in the real world. I woke up to Jack and Shane talking about something, and Johnny was still asleep, but I looked out the window and saw that Jade and Nicki were riding alongside us, and we had just crossed the border into Arizona.

"Alright, drug cartel first, then we rob the military," I said and took a can of beer, rolled my window down, and threw the can at Nicki, who was on the back of her mate's hog, and she looked over at me, and I held up my radio.

"What's up?" She asked so I knew she understood what I meant when I held the radio, I muted the radio so I could talk to her.

"You know about the Cartel, right?"

"The priests?"

"Yep, it's gonna be a tough fight to get their gear, but if they have money and/or drugs as well, we can use it to get some more territory outside of Texas."

"Alright,  let's do it, man!"

"Fuck yeah," I said and put away my radio, and unmuted the radio as we made our way to Mesa.
