Chapter 4

We met next to the cab and Johnny looked like he was about to pass out, so I did what any rational, logic-using, friend would do to help a panicked friend relax...I slapped him silly.

"Ow, OW, OWW! STOP!" He yelled after 3 slaps, and Jack chuckled beside me, looking at Alexandria in a way that made me want to talk to him later.

"You calm now, poof?"

"Yes, listen if you're serious about doing this, you have to be careful. Those hunters she was talking about? They're the most ruthless gang of demon hunters in the world, the leader has gone so far as to rape those he likes." That made Jack flare up, and I wasn't far behind him, rape was a sensitive subject for both of us, and we didn't let those that did it, or god forbid enjoyed it, get off with a warning. My hair and eyes were ablaze and I grabbed Johnny by the collar and told him to get home and fast, I told the rest of the gang to go back to the hotel, and that I'd meet up with them when I was done. When they left, Dylan and Mark had gone with them, I told Alexandria to lead us to the hunters, and she shifted into her wolf, which had night-black fur and lightning blue eyes, and bounded in the opposite direction. Jack and I whistled and our motorcycles flew out of a rift down the road, and at the same time, we jumped, landed, and throttled after her. We were going for about an hour to an hour and a half before we got to where the hunter's camp was, and Alexandria shifted back to her human form, only she was naked. Jack and I turned around and asked her to get dressed again, and were mocked for it.

"What?! Ya never seen a naked woman before?" She said laughing, and it took every ounce of willpower I had not to pull up my hoodie and hide, I'm an awkward fuck wad and a shy one at that.

"Just dress please," I said and after a couple of minutes, she tapped our shoulder, fully clothed, and signaled for us to follow her. Jack pulled off his jacket and set it on his bike before following us, a signal that he was gonna shift during this fight. We stopped at a vantage point above the camp and Alex stopped and started talking about a plan, but while she was talking I saw a demon being dragged into the biggest tent of them all, and, what I could only assume was the leader, following after him without any pants or shirt, that did it. I pointed it out to Jack and he shifted, his other form had four arms and was more buff than a WWE fighter times 10, and he had a sledgehammer in hand. I flared up and took out my handguns and looked at Jack, ready to go, we knew our timer in our head, Alexandria didn't seem to take the hint, but we didn't care, we were too mad to care.

"3...2...1...Now!" I whispered and Jack jumped up and landed just behind one of the hunters and swung the hammer at his head, crushing it on impact. I followed after him, swinging on a chain over everyone, and landed in front of the leader's tent, I threw it open and saw the leader on top of the demon I saw earlier, with fear in his eyes, I grabbed the leader and threw him out of the tent, he landed in front of the campfire and before he could get up I shot him in both calves, crippling him so I could make sure it hurt when he took his final breath. I joined Jack in killing more hunters before I felt a pain like no other in my back, but I didn't stop, I kept killing the hunters until none but the leader remained, I left him for Jack but he wouldn't touch him. Jack told me to lay down on my stomach, and I did, and he ripped out three crosses out of my back, I screamed out in pain because it hurt like hell, so I guess that's what everyone else felt.

"Come on, let's finish this." He said and I stood up, heading towards the campfire I saw Alexandria had shoved his face in the fire, giving him severe burns on the face, I grabbed him by the throat and opened a portal to hell below him.

"You're gonna wish you were never born, pal," I said and dropped him, he fell straight into the pit, and I fired a shot into the pit, igniting the thermite, and screams of pain and torture followed before I closed the rift. I headed over to the tent, but stopped before entering, I headed towards one of the smaller-looking grunts and took off the guy's shirt and pants. I walked back to the tent and opened it, and handed the demon inside the tent the clothing.

"Get dressed, then join us outside when you're done," I said before closing the tent and catching back up to Jack and Alex.

"Thank you both for helping me out with this gang, is your back okay?"

"I'm fine, it'll heal...probably," I said and rubbed the area I was shot, the irony is that the crosses came from a crossbow, it's pretty funny being shot by a crossbow with a couple of crosses. The boy joined us but the clothes were a bit big, so I unwrapped the steel chain from my forearm and wrapped it around the boy's waist to keep his pants up, tying the ends together with a lock "That fit okay, kid?"

"Y-yes, t-thank you for the help."

"Where's your family, kid?" He looked down at his feet really sad and I almost felt bad for asking him, because I knew the answer.

"T-they're dead. T-they killed them." I wasn't surprised, life as a demon child can be difficult, your parents could die, you could get seriously hurt, and only the strong survive.

"Jack, we got any room for another at home?"

"Yeah, we got a couple of rooms left." I signaled for him to pick up the kid, who rid on Jack's shoulders as we made our way back to the bikes. I gave Alex the address to the hotel we were staying at, and we got on our motorcycles and ride towards Mesa.

We got to the hotel an hour later, and the kid looked scared, so I sent Jack in to make sure everyone was going to be kind and soft towards the kid. I leaned against the wall, waiting, and looked down to see the kid doing the same thing, I smirked at that, it was funny to see a copycat.

"What's your name, kid?"

"Jay, my sister used to call me JJ to tease me." I laughed at that and ruffled his hair, this was too funny to me.

"You'll fit in just fine, Jay," I said as Jack walked back out and signaled that it was okay, I grabbed Jay's hand and led him inside.

"Alright, guys, meet Jay. He was being held captive by those hunters and we're gonna raise him." I said and before I could do anything else, Nicki was already hugging him, I looked over at Jade and saw a look of jealousy in her eyes, she caught my eyes and started blushing. I walked over and grabbed a couple of sodas, and handed her and Jack one before leaning against the wall next to me.

"You're jealous...of someone who's barely old enough to know what a mate is," I said smirking and she grabbed me by the throat, and by the glare, she was giving me, she wasn't fucking around.

"Shut. Up. Or I'll tell Alexandria that Jack loves her."

"But that ain't true."

"Debatable, but it doesn't matter, she'll believe me." She said and I glared back at her and agreed.

"Fine, now put me down, it's starting to hurt a lot," I said and she dropped me, causing me to gasp for air, drawing the attention of everyone else. Nicki laughed and told Jay to sit on the couch before walking over to Jade and hugging her tight, she whispered something in her ear that I couldn't make out, but by the stone-faced blush on Jade's face, it wasn't safe for work. I stood up and put my jacket on and Jack followed me outside, I needed some space from the lovebirds.

"Where are we going?" Jack asked as I got on my bike, he got on his and started it up waiting for a reply.

"A bar? Restaurant?"

"How about that bar and grill place that we passed on our way back here?"

"Sounds like a plan." I said and we sped off towards Phoenix to the bar he was talking about, it was more of a rugged bar, oldish, and reminded me of a diner I went to when I was twelve that wanted to be like a 'blast from the past' kinda place. We got inside and we got seated at a booth in the back of the place when I got a call from Jade.

"What's up, Jade?"

"Where. Are. You."

"I'm at a bar and grill, why?"

"Alexandria has me in a chokehold and forced me to call you and ask where you were."

"Oh...put her on then," I said and gave the phone to Jack, this was gonna be fun to watch "It's your girlfriend buddy," I said smirking and receiving a sock in the jaw because of it.

"You deserve that." The waitress said through laughter, handing me my drink, I joined in the laughter and made a mental note to tip her thirty percent instead of twenty. She took my order, and I told her to come back in ten minutes to get Jack's, and she left with a wink and a grin. 'What was that about?' I thought to myself before Jack handed me the phone.

"Did she wink at you?" Jack asked and I gave him the 'Yeah, I'm just as confused as you' look, which was just a shoulder shrug and a head nod.

"What's up, Alex?"

"Nothing bored outta my motherfuckin' mind. Your friends are watching me like I'm planning on killing ya though."

"What?! Put Jade on the phone."

"Alright, it doesn't bother me cuz I could kill any of them with ease."

"I'll save you a spot in hell if you do."

"Awww, thank you. Should I bring flowers for you?" I started blushing and looked away from Jack, who was too focused on some game on his phone.

"Hey Jakey, how ya doing?"

"I will fucking cut your throat if you call me Jakey again. Why are y'all glaring at Alex?"

"Why not? Should we be treating them like royalty?"

"Fuck royalty, mate, I'm asking cuz I don't want her to stab us in the back when we need her help with those trucks. That and Jay is there, I don't want the kid to think y'all are gonna be assholes to him too."

"You gonna bash us like that, man? We ain't being assholes...just cautious."

"Mhmm, if Lucifer was right, y'all are gonna be more humane around Alex. God forbid he's right."

"What do you mean 'if Lucifer is right'? "

"Nothing, it may not even matter, and if it does, you'll find out in the future."

"Whatever, see ya when you get back."

"See ya," I said and hung up the phone "Remind me to never leave the guys around Alex alone again."

"I got you, man." Jack said through laughter, it was funny that they were so cautious of someone who was giving them help, 'Whatever, I can stress later.' I thought and put my phone in my pocket.

"Here's your food, sir" The waitress came back and placed a double cheeseburger with bacon and onion rings, then turned to Jack "Are you ready to order, man?"

"Umm yeah, I'll have the T-bone steak with fries, and can I get another soda?"

"Of course, lemme ring that up, I'll be right back."

Jack thanked her and pulled out his phone and called Derek, giving me one of the earbuds so I could hear what he was saying, and talk myself since each bud had a microphone.

"Yello?" Derek picked up and judging from the silence in the background, I assumed he was probably in his room, and not in hell.

"Hey Der, we're gonna be late a couple of days, sorry."

"Fuck, alright, what's going on? Is Johnny okay?" He asked, sounding worried, and I mean who could blame him, he was a protective mate, almost on the same level as an Alpha would be.

"Yep, he's on his way back home, he should arrive tomorrow, probably in the evening."

"Wait, if he's driving home now then how are y'all gonna get those trucks home?"

"We got some help..."
