Chapter 5 The New Alpha

Keira POV

In the morning.

It made me sluggish because of insomnia last night, so I got out of bed and patted my face. Louis stared at me as he sat in front of me, "There are a few things that need to be taken care of today, so I have to head to the Full Moon Room a little early. You'd better dress up before the ball starts."

I didn't tell him I was going hunting because it was not allowed. I nodded and stuffed toast into my mouth.

"Do you have a dress for the ball?" Louis enquired of me. He had this tie in his hand when he went out of his room following breakfast.

I nodded while grinning badly. He appeared to be about to say anything else, but all he did was lightly sigh. He was already attired. He looked dapper in a navy blue suit with vertical stripes and an orange tie, and I knew he was going to make an impression.

"Well, I'll see you in the Full Moon Hall." He said, placing his hand on the door handle.

"Okay, bye."

After he closed the door, I quickly cleaned up everything on the table. Time was of the essence, so I hurried upstairs and back to my room. My quick decision to wear a little black dress and a pair of white Converse shoes came to me in a second.

That's it, indeed. I'm going to explore the undiscovered secrets of the forest and race the wind through it like males, there is nothing better than a short skirt that allows me to move around the forest as I please, and although it may be less noticeable than a glamorous long dress, who cares. Hunting is much more important in my mind than Alpha's party.

I quickly left the house after looking up at the time. The sun was shining brightly today, the weather was excellent, and the clouds in the sky indicated that there would be a stunning sunset this evening. No females would be as daring as I am and go on a hunt, so I made a particular detour to make sure I wouldn't run into anyone I knew.

I ran fast to the south side of the forest. It was exhausting to stay alert all the way, but the adventure I was about to go on made it all worthwhile.

I whistled and took my time getting to the lake. The leaves were even eager to blow the Roman horn for my adventure when a wind gust lifted them. Gleaming ripples cut the lake's surface. I gazed at the brilliant sun reflected in the lake, like a diamond in the mirror.

Is it because I ran too fast, why Dylan has not come, do I arrive too early? Dylan would never forget our date! Or has something happened to him?

"You're here, just like I knew you would be." Behind me, I heard a familiar voice.

The sun was too strong, so I turned to face him just as the clouds began to block it out. Because my eyes were not accustomed to such a sudden change of light, I saw nothing at first. After 2seconds, a familiar but unexpected male face finally came into my field of vision.

The puppy lover!

"Why are you here?" My heart pounded as I caught his gaze, for I might have run too fast.

He raised an eyebrow and moved in my direction by three steps without saying anything.

"Why are you dressed like that? I know a lot of girls will be dressed up tonight."

"I'm not one of them."

"Yeah, I find it difficult to see you smiling as they do."

"We are the same; they come for the ball, and I come for the hunt, we don't need to be compared in any way."

We were standing in the sunlight when the wind cleared away the clouds that had been blocking the sun, and I noticed that his eyes had changed and were now shining.

"Come with me." He reached out his hand and grabbed me without refusal.

"What? No, wait a minute. I'm waiting for someone here."

"Never say no to me, puppy. He wouldn't come, Alpha sent him to the woodshed to carry firewood."

"Why do you know this?" I couldn't help but follow him as my eyes widened.

"Don't you want to hunt? I'll take you to a perfect spot." He tightly grasped my hand and carried me suddenly, and when I wrapped my hands around his neck to prevent falling, he grinned and looked down at me.

Nothing could stop him as he raced through the forest as if it were an open meadow, he dodged just in time to avoid hitting a tree trunk. His sharp jawline was all I could see in his arms. We arrived at a small hill after a few minutes.

"Here we are." He said, putting me down.

Everything was clearly visible to our eyes from above, including the lake and the magnificent vista.

Take a deep breath, I even want to shout. The scenery here was just so beautiful!

These trees were free. Some of them were yellow, some were emeralds, and some were green. They came in a variety of colors, including yellow, green, and emerald. Additionally, they varied in length, thickness, and length. The vivid summer forest may be seen in the lake. The entire forest appeared less lifeless as rays of sunlight filtered through the spaces between the leaves. We almost only see green, from light green grass to dark green woods, except for the lake that looked like a sapphire. Its blue decorates the entire forest like strawberries on a cream cake, making us appreciate the beauty of the lake even more. It appeared to be the heart and core of this lovely forest. Due to the breeze and the rustle of the leaves, I could hear it breathing.

"Hey, see the lake..." He was looking directly at me when I turned to speak.

"Shh, the hunting has started.” He grinned while lowering his voice.

I noticed a male in hunting gear aiming for a buck. A male wore a deerstalker hat with shotguns embroidered on it. Deerstalker is only given to the hunting king, as far as I'm aware. Our new Alpha has one, according to Lynede. This meant that he was probably the new Alpha!
