Renna’s POV
I kissed Ethan goodbye one last time in his doorway.
“Are you sure you can’t come tonight?” I pouted.
“I told you I have to work. I might come by if I finish early, but I’m pretty tired. I’ll probably see you tomorrow,” he kissed me and walked me to the car, a clear indication it was time to go. I couldn’t help but study his face, even after two years together and so many more of me pining after him, I found him terribly handsome. In moments like this, I wondered why I hadn’t allowed him to take our relationship to the next level, but deep down I knew I had to wait for my mate, I had to be sure and I would be as soon as I turned eighteen in a couple of weeks.
“Good night, drive home safe,” He closed the car door after I had climbed in.
Getting into the car, I set off for home, as only daughter and Heir to the Moonstone pack, I had duties, one of which was the weekly walk with my parents, the Alpha and Luna of the pack. The house I lived in my entire life sat like a castle awaiting my return, lights on and gates open. My Dad had built this house as a mating gift for my mother following her every hope and dream, it was something out of a fairytale tall and white with wisteria wrapped around the front to welcome all who entered. Greta, our omega, opened the door for me as soon as she saw me get off the car.
“Good evening, Renna,” she said with a small smile, bowing her head. I smiled back at her and asked about my parents whereabouts as I took off and handed her my coat.
“They’re in the lounge” She responded politely, patting down the coat before turning to hang it while I nodded and headed in their direction. “Princess, you’re here! Where’s Ethan?” Dad asked, noticing both my expression and the empty space my boyfriend often occupied. Mom came gave me a soft smile,
“He’s been working so hard for this pack. Don’t be disappointed; everyone knows how much he loves you.” I nodded at Mom right as Greta announced dinner was ready.I was poking at the potatoes on my plate, thinking about Ethan, about the love my parents shared and praying to the Moon Goddess that Ethan and I would be mates.
“How’s school going, princess?” I was so lost in thought that my dad’s question caught me by surprised and I nearly choked, making him lift a mocking, if knowing, eyebrow.
“It’s alright, but Miss Fielding seems to have it out for me,” I shrugged, making my dislike for the woman clear with my tone. Mom and Dad exchanged a knowing look.
“She doesn’t have it out for you, Renna. Just try a little harder in her class,” Mom encouraged as I poked at my food, frustrated that Miss Fielding didn’t treat me the same way she treated my parents, given their Alpha and Luna status.
“You’ll be turning 18 soon.” Dad tried to change the topic, “Have you thought about what you want for your birthday, Princess?” He asked, and shook my head in reply, what I really wanted was for Ethan to be my mate and for my wolf to finally emerge. I longed to meet her and forge that connection.
Dad had initiated these weekly walks as a way for us to bond and for the pack to see us as a united family the same year I had started my training as heir. I enjoyed this time with my parents as they were often too busy with pack business. May had brought uncharacteristic rain, so I grabbed my jacket from where it had been hung and we ventured out as I slipped it on. Mom and Dad held hands as usual, and I couldn’t help but think that usually Ethan would join us, our hands intertwined as we made our way toward the riverbank, where the trees thinned, before circling back home.
The sound of rushing water filled the air, the rain intensified, and I got an odd chill down my spine, I was too distracted to notice my parents stopping through the curtain of rain and . I bumped into Mom, who had let go of my father while they scanned the area.
In the distance, a howl echoed through the woods. My heart raced and I froze, Questions filling my mind with chaos. We’re they rogues? Why would they attack here? Why now? Why us?
“Get in the bushes, Renna, and don’t come out until we tell you,” Mom whispered in a tone that left no room for discussion, and I darted off, doing as I was told by my mother-my Luna.
Without my wolf, I lacked the mind link, and we were too far from home to run back alone. I fumbled for my phone, lowered the volume to zero and dialed Ethan with shaking fingers. It rang and rang, but there was no answer, I dialed again
A gunshot made me look up from my phone screen, the phone falling to the dirt as both my hands covered my mouth to keep a scream in. I watched my mother’s body fall to the ground with a twitch. My heart stopped and my feet began to move towards her but Dad’s stern look kept me put. Another shot rang out, it pierced through Dad’s body, ending his life instantly, there was only one type of bullet that could do that to a werewolf, a silver one.
Fear gripped my shoulders and forced me to crouch deeper into the bushes as quietly as I could, tears streaming down my face and blinding me, my hands still shook as I touched the ground looking for my phone to dial Ethan once again. Five rogues emerged from the woodland clearing, sending a shiver down my spine. I felt desperate, I felt weak. “Please pick up, please pick up,” I yelled in my mind.
I watched one of them kick my mom’s face while she writhed in pain, her blood painting the grass beneath her.
The tears didn’t stop, but now they were tinged with determination to etch their faces into my memory. I remained hidden, my heart loud in my own ears. I didn’t know if it was minutes or hours but once I was certain they were gone, I left my safe spot and moved to my parents’ sides, my father’s body was already getting cold.
A faint howl danced through the trees and with it, hope.I turned to my mother and found her still clinging to life. She gasped for breath, choking on her own blood. It was clear that a bullet had struck her shoulder, missing her heart by inches.
“Re-nna,” she croaked out unsure what else to do, I turned her on her side in hopes the blood would stop collecting at the back of her throat.
I was ready to grab my dad’s knife and end my life to avoid any torture the rogues would inflict upon me when my mother managed to move her hand to mine. “Take care of your grandmother. She needs you.” With that, life left her.
Needing to get out of there, I began running, but I couldn’t go home if they were looking for me, so instead I headed to Ethan’s, I just needed a safe place to think. My muscles took me as fast as I could go, the trees and houses nothing but a blur behind tears.
Once I reached his house, sI made sure I hadn’t been followed and knocked on the door to no answer, he was probably asleep, so I flipped the doormat over and let myself in with the spare key. I was immediately met with a noise from upstairs, afraid that he was in trouble, I followed it to his bedroom, missing the two wine glasses sitting on the coffee table.
The closer I got to his bedroom the clearer the sounds became, and suddenly I recognized moans from outside the door.
I opened the door a crack and peaked in, wholly unprepared for the scene I was met with. “Fk Ethan. Don’t stop!” cried Lia, a girl from the pack who had never been so much as kind to me, she was dragging her nails down his back and I couldn’t look away, dazed, confused, and suddenly just very tired. I turned away right as Ethan growled in pleasure,
“I love your tight pussssy,” That snapped me out my trance, so I closed the door and stumbled back down the stairs, collapsing on the couch in a ball of despair. The sounds of their pleasure echoed in my ears as my world crumbled, darkness enveloping me.
Renna’s POVI woke up disoriented and shaken, to find Ethan towering over me. His words were an ice pick to the heart, his tone cold and unfeeling. “Get out of my house,” he said as if I were a pest, an intruder in the life we had built together. “We’re done.”I tried desperately to explain, to tell him what had happened to my parents, but he didn’t care. Not knowing where to go, I returned home hoping they weren’t still looking for me but the rogues who had taken my parents’ lives now occupied our home. We were a pack without an Alpha, and I a girl without a wolf or a family or a home, but I did have a whole lot of anger.I needed a plan to rid my house of these unwelcome guests. I had my car keys tucked away in my jacket pocket and I made it my makeshift refuge for now. It was only a matter of time before the rogues realized the Alpha’s daughter was staying there and which car I drove, but for now, it was my sanctuary. I had also found my bank card in the glove compartment and a bru
Renna’s POVToo tired to worry, I turned to look up at the person standing by me and holding the umbrella.I had never seen him beforeHe was tall, attractive and had kind eyes. My stomach fluttered and I did my best to ignore his well-defined physique, a task at which I failed. He flashed me a small smile “You’re too lovely to get sick in this rain.” He said and I felt a blush creep onto my cheeks. He extended his hand, offering to help me up from the wet bench and I couldn’t help but notice that he, too, was getting drenched in the pouring rain. Though I didn’t know him, he didn’t feel like trouble, or maybe I was too tired to notice trouble anymore, at least he didn’t have that unmistakable rogue scent. I accepted his hand, and he responded with a warm smile.I felt a rush of excitement coursing through me as his hand closed around mine, sending delightful tingles up my skin. He pulled me up, and I found myself face-to-face with him. He was taller than me, with strong, broad shoulder
Renna’s POVI had been sitting in the car for a few hours now. The handsome stranger continued to drive; he occasionally gave me a side-eye look with a gentle smile. I returned the smile, not wanting to be rude, as I watched my pack andmy home disappear behind us. “Are you cold?” his deep voice echoed in the car and I shook my head, not wanting to bother him. Of course I was cold, but inside his sports car, it was far warmer than sitting at the bus stop in the rain.“You’d warm up quicker if you took your clothes off,” he said and blasted the the heater on; The warm, hot air felt nice on my skin; the cold ebbed away as he drove through the night, the sound of the heavy rain lulling me to sleep.A small tap on my shoulder and the words “We’re home,” woke me, I blinked a few times as I took in my surroundings. I had been asleep for hours. I felt clammy and groggy after sleeping with my neck against the window in a weird angle, the hot air from the car only partially drying my soddened
Renna’s POVI chuckled and began to get out of bed, but Xavier moved swiftly, stopping me with a pointed look at his watch. “It’s 12:12 A.M. on May 20th, and from now on, you belong to me.” he declared, leaning over me, compelling me to lean back against the headboard. My eyes widened, was he crazy? He had helped me and had been kind, but if he thought he could keep me here, he was dreaming.I may not have a home or a family, but that didn’t give him the right to claim me. I still had my grandmother and soon, I’d have my wolf and my mate. I wanted to hold out for him. He would be my family, my protector, the one person I could count on. If anyone was going to claim me, it would be him and him alone.“Excuse me? You want me to be yours?” My tone came off less than impressed, he simply nodded. “Alpha Xavier, there are countless women, I’m sure, who want to be with you. Why would you want me?” I pushed him off of me, my hand on his solid, warm chest as he slowly moved back, creating some
Renna’s POV A gentle whimper slipped from my parted lips, the exquisite sensation of his caress and flavor. Goddess!!! I couldn’t even think. My fingers caressed his as I pulled him intimately nearer to my body. It was an exquisite sensation as his tongue delicately caressed the depths of my mouth, igniting a fiery passion within me. With a gasp, I reluctantly withdrew, my eyes fluttering open, my lips now tender and pulsating with the lingering intensity of his tantalizing caress. His fingers entwined themselves in the golden strands of my tousled hair; a tingling awareness coursed through me as I straddled a particular area of his body while his other hand firmly grasped my supple hips. His smoldering gaze locked onto me, igniting a fire deep within. It was as if I held the power to captivate his every desire, rendering him helpless in the face of my intoxicating allure. I was certain Ethan had looked at me the same way, yet look how that turned out. I bit my lip as I looked at hi
Renna POVI stared at the man looking blankly so that’s where I knew him from he … he came to Xavier’s mansion when I went upstairs. ‘What?’ I asked incredulously, I had already refused him, why was he helping me still? The man was confused. He had been nice, charming, so helpful but asking me to marry him like that … How could I say yes? I will be 18 soon. I just wanted to wait for my mate. I at least wanted the chance to meet him, accept or reject him first before I even considered Xavier’s proposal. So why was he doing this? Why would he still help me? The man was like a steam train. I felt like I was being rolled down without having much of a say. “Yes, Alpha Xavier wishes to help you solve your family problems,’ he added simply as I still looked at him stunned. I was grateful to him but also how did he know all of this? I hadn’t told him but … I guess it wasn’t hard to judge when a swarm of rouges takes over your pack. My grandma is my only other relative which is on the record
Renna POVMy head was spinning as I tried to focus. There was a dull ache coming from my legs and arms, for a moment I just wanted to lie here, what was the point anyway. My grandma was okay, she was doing well, I had fulfilled my promise to my mum. I saw Xavier crouch down his knees appearing in my view before he pushed back a few strands of my hair off of my face. He was looking at me with such concern as I just blinked looking at him. I was glad he found me, I didn’t exactly have anywhere else to go after all but I still didn’t like feeling bought and paid for. My throat cracked as I spoke, “I will pay you back,” he just smiled at me stroking my hair. It was soothing but I still didn’t want to give in. I scrambled up to a sitting position Xavier helping to steady me as I let out a ragged breath. Another wave came over me making me want to be sick. “You don’t need to pay me back,” he offers soothingly why he is being so nice, I’m sure he said the next time we meet he wouldn’t act
Renna POV Xavier dropped us off at the house, he pulled me forcefully from the car dragging me up the stairs to the bedroom. My heart pounded in my chest. No, he wouldn’t … I know everyone says he is cruel but he’s not going to rape me right. He let out a loud growl as we turned the corner, my hands were sweating as he kicked the door open before throwing me on the bed. He stood over me, his eyes flashing to his wolf as he leant down gripping my jaw tightly, “Behave” he growled out before he stormed out of the room slamming the door behind him. I jumped up running to the door as I heard the click of the lock as he turned the key. “Xavier … you can’t lock me in here!” I demanded as I banged on the door. He didn’t answer as I slumped back against the door. Why would I marry him after he treats me like this! No wonder Sage left him. He is cruel and mean! The first chance I get I’m going to leave his sorry ass and get out of here!He then pretty much left me alone all day as I saw the
