I looked at the screen and my mind went blank. Since when does this thing need a password? What the hell am I supposed to do now?
The crowd was dead quiet. But that silence felt louder than a plane taking off right next to me.
I did not even know what password to try. I had no clue where to start.
“Just give me a few seconds…”
My voice came out confident at first, then it broke. People were watching. I tried not to let the panic show on my face. I just needed more time. That was all.
Then my darling, Marina, stood up from her seat.
She walked over to me. I had told everyone she was my co-creator, so it made sense.
“Do you know what the password might be?” I asked her.
She kept her voice low. “Was there a password before?”
“No. I watched Rebecca check it herself. There was nothing.”
“Then she is playing you. Right here in front of all these people and everyone watching online. Text her right now. Tell her to send the password.”
I had not thought of that at all. Thank God she said it.
I grabbed my phone and typed fast.
“Rebecca, if you know what is good for you, send me the password right now. What did you put on it? Send it immediately.”
I stood there staring at the screen. Kept looking at my phone. Nothing came back.
“Did she send it?” My darling asked quietly. I was already embarrassed.
“No. Not yet.”
“Then go to the restroom and call her.”
That was the only option left. But would these people actually wait?
“Everyone please give us a few minutes. Mr Luke needs to generate the required code.”
My Marina said that into the microphone.
As I walked away, I heard people talking under their breath.
“Is he not the one who built this software? Why cannot he type in the password?”
“He should have finished everything before inviting the public like this.”
“Did he even test it at all?”
That was the kind of thing they were saying. I needed to get that password and prove them wrong.
I got inside the restroom and called Rebecca immediately.
“Pick up, you son of a bitch.” The words came out before I could stop them. My fingers were shaking. The phone kept ringing.
“Hello, Rebecca,” I said when she finally answered.
“I know why you are doing this. But forget that for now. I will not be angry when I get home. Just tell me the password.”
“Password?” She sounded genuinely confused. “I did not put any password on it.”
“Please. Do not play games with me right now. The whole world is watching. I know I have been treating you badly lately. But do not do this to me. I promise I will forgive you.”
“Luke, what are you even accusing me of…”
“Stop. Just stop and send me the code.” I yelled into the phone. Sweat was pouring out of me now.
“I did not set any password. Maybe whoever actually owns it did.”
“Are you stupid? Are you working with Collins?” I stopped myself. Was getting angry going to help? Or did I need the password more? I lowered my voice.
“Please. Do not humiliate me like this. I will let you go on your research trip. Take all the time you need. I know I have hurt you. Things will change starting today. Just believe me and send the password.”
“If I knew it, I would send it to you.”
“If you do not send it, you will regret it when I get home.” I changed my tone again. This time I meant it as a threat.
“I did not put any password on that software.”
I hung up because I was too angry to keep talking.
A few seconds later, someone knocked on the door.
“Darling, did she send it?”
“No. That bastard refused.”
“Then what do we do now? I always knew Rebecca did not have a heart.”
“If we can not get this password, then everything I have been saying was for nothing.”
I wanted to dig a hole right there and climb into it. I had to walk back out there with no answer.
“What if you just apologize? Tell them you made a mistake and you are sorry. Say you will fix it and come back later.”
“That is actually a good idea.” I pulled her into a hug. Those were the exact words I needed to hear.
“Come on. Everyone is waiting. All you have to do is say sorry. No one will know the real reason.”
We left the bathroom. I stood in front of the crowd. The noise was getting louder. Then I spoke.
“Technology is complicated. It works in strange ways, like the human brain. My antivirus software reset itself in a way I did not expect. I need to go back to the drawing board and…”
“Are you really going back to the drawing board? Or are you going to stand here and tell all these people the truth? That this software is not even yours?”
I knew that voice. My eyes went wide. My heart was slamming against my ribs so hard it hurt.
“Mr Collins Hart? What are you doing here?”
The crowd started murmuring. A lot of them.
And there was no way he could know the password Rebecca made. No fucking way.
LukeI stared at him. "Who even invited you here in the first place? It is strictly on invitation.""I knew something like this would happen. I knew how I created the software." Collins smiled like he had already won. "You stole my antivirus software and you are standing here telling everyone it is yours?"Half the people in their seats got up. I had to fight back. There was no way he could prove anything."You have been jealous of my work since college. When will you grow up and get over it?""Security!" Marina yelled. "Get this spy out of here right now. Do you have an invitation? Show everyone your card."All eyes turned to him. Everyone wanted to see him pull out that special invitation."Sir, do you have your card with you?" One of the security men asked.Luke had nothing to show. How did he even walk in here?"Take him out. He does not belong here." I pointed my finger at him."This software belongs to me. And I know the password."That one sentence made the whole room go quiet.

RebeccaIt has been days since I last saw Lin online. Days. I have sent him so many messages, I lost count. Nothing. Not a single reply.Maybe I should just tell him who I am. I tried to stay away, I really did. But I could not help it. From that very first conversation, he was fun. Fun in a way no one else had been. Then another message came in. “Send me your boobs as you shake them in front of a mirror…”I almost laughed. That is what every man wants. All the men l have chatted online. Every single one. But not Lin. He never asked for anything like that. And honestly? If he did ask, I do not think I could say no. I have no control when it comes to him.He wanted me to show my face. Put up my real picture. Introduce myself properly. I never planned to do it. But what if that is what gets him to answer me?I hope I am not falling for him. I just needed someone to talk to. That is all.“My real name is…” I stopped. Just say it. All of it. I pulled in a deep breath and kept going.“Do n
LukeI could feel the day coming. The launch. It was right there, breathing down my neck.Noon hit, and I kept pacing around my living room.Yeah. ‘My living room.’ My father busted his ass for this place as a mere butler. Sweat. Blood. Everything he had. If he was alive to see me now, he would be so proud. Here, in this same house where he worked like a dog, I am the one in charge now.So my fear and my success were fighting inside me. Then I heard a voice I knew too well.“Honey, you look like something is wrong.”I turned around. Marina. My first real love. The woman I later chose from all my girlfriends. She came closer and said,“Did Rebecca do something to you? You have been walking back and forth across this room for minutes now, and you did not even see me walk in. So what is eating you up?”I stopped moving. I could not find the right words for what I was feeling.“Rebecca!” she called out. That is our maid. Or should I say, my fake wife.A few minutes passed.“Rebecca.” She
Rebecca“Ah…ah…that is the g-spot. More. Deeper. I love you. There is ah…….”Luke's mistress screamed like that. I got over this crap a long time ago, back when he was still bringing home different women all the time. But lately? He has stuck with this one lady for way longer than usual.Only one thing changed. Luke and this shameless woman used to do it in his room. And his room is far from mine. l never heard this screaming. But now? They have been having sex right beside my room. The wall between us is not even real brick, so I can hear every single thing. This is the third night in a row. Her moaning and screaming goes straight into my ears. This is on purpose. I am only human. That sound makes my mind drift back to that night with Collins. Because I was drunk, I only remember pieces of it. Bits and pieces keep coming back.“Suck my breasts. Ah…arggg. aaaag….ghhh. Keep sucking.” She screams like she is dying. “What should I do for you that no woman has done for you? Bury your cock
Collins"It has been six days now and...""Are you trying to kick me out of your house, Phillip?""No, no. I would never do that. But staying here is not going to fix you. You keep telling your mom you cannot tell her where you are. I cannot find the healing you are looking for. Your mom is worried sick and you know that.""I do not want to go to my house because Rachel is there.""Why?" Phillip asked. Phillip has been my friend since we were kids. In fact, he is the person I meant to call when I accidentally called Luke instead."My mom gave her the spare key I gave to her. My mom says I need someone to take care of me and Rachel is available.""But Rachel is not that bad. Do not tell me you are still looking for that girl who saved you in the forest when your parachute failed."I kept quiet. He paused, waiting for me to say something. I did not. That girl gave me a kiss that saved my life. She breathed air back into my lungs. I closed my eyes, trying to see her face again. But I co
