Chapter 6

Those words were the final push I needed. I jumped up to my feet and walked over to Grannie Alba.

“I'll go with you, please don't hurt her.”

Our goodbyes were rushed and robotic. Grannie Alba avoided my eyes deliberately, and I couldn't blame her. She had just watched a massacre in her living room.

My gaze remained trained on the two bodies on the floor until we walked out the door.

Just as I expected, a small group of people were outside, watching from a distance. No one dared come close.

Our window was wide enough to have seen what happened to the last person who did.

Tears blurred my vision as we walked towards the SUVs that were parked outside and I didn’t bother to wipe them off.

I glanced back at the house one more time, hoping Grannie Alba was at the door, but she wasn't. She still sat shaking on the couch, staring at the crimson stain that covered the floor.

I watched life as I knew it, end right before my eyes.

I cried all through the drive, no one showed any co

It was a baseless fight. Many of my men present were wolves. They were faster, sharper, and could heal almost instantly. Of course, we couldn't have humans suspecting that, but there was a stark difference during the fight.Don Carmelo's men were old school. They fought with blades and fists, not guns. I had my men ditch their guns to even out the cards but still. “Carmelo, give up now and nobody else gets hurt,” I yelled from behind the container I ducked into.“And have you take all the glory? Dominate my territory as well?” He asked sarcastically. His voice sounded closer to me and I braced myself. “Never!” He yelled just as he came into view, tackling me to the ground and throwing pathetic blows. “Sandro!” I heard a distressed voice yell and I turned momentarily towards the sound. It was Alessia. A large container had fallen on her lower limbs and she was with a man who was trying to drive a blade into her neck.Clenching my jaw, I pushed Carmelo off me and rushed towards Ales

Bang! The person fell, and I barely caught sight of his all black attire before Trevor pulled me behind a wall. Another round of bullets went off, hitting the walls, then stopped. My heart was hammering and I was breathing fast as I stared at my hands. I just shot someone. The gun dropped from my hand, but Trevor caught it before it hit the floor and shoved it into his jeans.“Hey! Luna, you're okay. Nothing happened, you're okay,” he said, shaking my shoulders. “I need to get you out of here. He couldn't have been alone.”“He's dead,” I whispered, looking in the direction where the body probably still lay.“That's not what matters. I have to make sure you're safe but you need to cooperate with me. Can you do that?” He asked.I nodded wordlessly. He had a finger on the trigger of his gun the whole time, ready to shoot. “Okay. The entrance we took is probably blocked by now and we can't take any chances. I expect this floor to be crawling with men.” I listened to him figure out the

That’s when I saw it.A shoe. Black leather, polished to a shine, peeking out from beneath the door. Alpha Moretti’s shoe.I knew because I spent several minutes staring at his shoes opposite me on the flight while I slipped in and out of sleep.“Alpha Moretti? Is something wrong?” I called out warily, pulling the plush comforter up to my chin so my body was covered. The chances were slim but it could have been someone else.“Elara?” He said, sounding surprised to hear my voice. Meanwhile, I was relieved to hear his.“Yeah. What are you doing?” I asked, not making any attempt to move towards the door.He let out a string of curses in Italian. “I thought this was my room because it's at the end of the hallway. I was trying to use the stupid key but it wasn't working. I hope I didn't disturb your sleep.”I choked back a laugh. The room I picked was in the exact location of his room back at Moretti Brun. We said goodnight and I snuggled back to bed. The dress Sofia helped me pick for t

I was back in my room and on my feet. Each time I saw the Alpha, he had someone else with him. It was almost as though he was avoiding being alone in the same place with me after our near kiss.On my second day back at the house, I had visitors trooping in to wish me well. From what I gathered, they knew their Luna was involved in an accident but the details weren't divulged to them. Sofia wasn't lying, a number of the pack women were staring each time I walked past but I wasn't going to let it bother me. Finding out that Giovanni was a part of Ombra Nera felt like a punch in my gut. I felt betrayed.“I'm ready to begin training again,” I announced confidently to Maria when she came visiting. She dropped the plate of pie slowly on the table and turned to me.“Already? You still need some time so your body can recover. Besides, what's the rush?” She asked, sitting on the couch. The rush is that my wolf seems to be back and I need to get back to training. But I didn't say that. Inste

“What are you talking about?” I asked, sitting up on the bed. “I'm talking about him,” he pointed at Giovanni, who was kneeling at the other side of the room. He looked very lean and I could still see some bruises that had not completely healed on his face.“Giovanni? I'm confused. What's happening? Did he do something wrong?” I asked, looking from one person to the next. Alpha Moretti let out a cold chuckle. “You are the Luna of this pack. Yet, you reduce yourself and embarrass me by fooling around with him?” He asked incredulously, like he couldn't believe I was so stupid. My eyebrows shot up to my hairline and I ignored the sharp pang of headache that followed. “Fooling around with Giovanni? I wasn't doing anything like that, what are you talking about?” I said truthfully. “Do you realize you have soiled the Alpha knot? I'm ashamed to call you my mate,” he spat out, looking at me with disgust. “Okay, hold on. Whatever you're thinking, you're wrong. I needed to take a breath

  • The Curse of Fated Mates    Chapter 36

In a flash, the room was filled with light and equipment that sparked and banged before everything went dark. A soldier in front of me fell to the ground with a groan, and we all turned on our flashlights in a frenzy. The once dark room was now filled with equipment, but before I could make out the figures of anyone around, another soldier groaned, clenching his arm.“Someone has wolfsbane on them,” he choked out, pulling out a small dart from his arm as he fought against its effects. “I think they're humans.” I nodded, and he found shelter so he could let his body heal. Wolfsbane could only weaken a wolf and temporarily mess with their abilities. “What is this place?” I heard someone ask as our light rays searched the corners of the wide room. “It looks like some sort of lab. Try not to touch anything,” Dante replied to the soldier. There were whispering voices coming from a corner, and I gestured for Silas to find the source of the sounds while we continued looking around.I saw
