“We have to address the issue at hand,” said Irene’s new mate with a severe expression.

‘The issue of you already knowing my name??’ Irene responded internally. Outwardly, she cleared her throat and nodded dumbly.

“You caused a scene at my ball and turned out to be my mate,” the man said, the look on his face was ironic.

“I didn’t mean to. I just wanted to get Desmond back,” Irene spoke quietly, not even daring to hold the man’s gaze.

“Desmond?” he inquired.

“My… first mate.” Irene lifted her head.

“Ah, him,” a flash of recognition crossed the man’s handsome features, “I still don’t understand how you could get another mate right after getting rejected by one.”

He was mostly talking to himself as he spoke in whispers. Irene heard him. She, too, couldn’t understand why any of this was happening. She didn’t want a new mate. She didn’t want any alpha. She wanted Desmond. Even though he didn’t want her back.

Irene clenched her fists as she recalled the events that transpired before she got into this room.

Then she looked at her new mate again and noticed that he seemed to be in deep thought. A thought of her own crossed Irene’s mind.

The man was more reasonable than she thought he would be, going as far as to converse with her. That showed that he wasn’t a bad person, right?

“Excuse me,” she called out to him, hopeful, “May I know your name? You already know mine when I didn’t tell you so I thought it’d be better if I know yours. Not that you’re obligated to tell me your name since you’re an alpha and you don’t- I’ll stop talking now. Sorry.”

Irene closed her mouth when she realized that the man’s eyes had thinned as he stared at her ranting off, showing that he was annoyed.

“It’s fine,” the man casually said, “Your first mate as you said, Desmond, was the one who told me your name and explained your reason for being here. And I’m sorry for not introducing myself earlier,”

“My name is Adam Aldrin. I’m the alpha of Jupiter Pack.”

Irene’s jaw dropped.

“You… alpha… Jupiter… Wh-what!?!?” Irene’s brain exploded as she tried to process the new information given to her.

She shot up from her seat and pointed at Adam. “You’re the cruel and crazy alpha of Jupiter Pack!!”

Adam’s face twisted with anger and annoyance.

“I am,” he agreed.

Irene instantly covered her mouth with her hands. Fuck! What did she just say out loud?!

Even though everyone in the Werewolf Territory knew that the alpha of Jupiter Pack was an insanely wicked man, no one was stupid enough to blurt it out to the man’s face. Except for Irene.

“Oh, my gosh. I’m so sorry. I didn’t mean to.” Irene quickly got down on her knees to beg for forgiveness.

She’d heard the terrifying tales about this man in front of her. Adam had a severe case of germophobia which explained why every inch of his body was covered and everywhere he stepped on was sparkling clean.

He never allowed anyone to touch him. Those who were foolish enough to bump into him or touch him accidentally—like Irene—had lost their lives in an instant.

With the snap of a finger, anyone he disliked could be killed. His killing record amounted to over a thousand kills. The most that an alpha has ever had in history.

“I’m stupid, Alpha. I say dumb things all the time. I didn’t mean to call you crazy. You’re not crazy. You’re sane! I swear it!” Irene cried with her face to the ground as she shivered in fright.

She heard Adam sigh deeply before he said, “It’s fine. You can get up from the floor.”

Her body stilled. She stole a glance at Adam, revealing her teary eyes and cheeks. An indecipherable expression seemed to flash on Adam’s face as he looked at her before quickly turning his head away.

“Really?” Irene questioned to confirm Adam’s previous words.

“Really,” he reassured her.

“Okay, sniff, I knew you were a good person,” she rose up from the floor and wiped her face with the back of her hand, ensuring that she was clean before she sat down on her chair again.

“Hm,” Adam hummed to Irene’s silly words, “Anyways, as I said, we have to address the issue at hand. I’m sure you must be overwhelmed by this new mate bond just after breaking one recently. Right?”

Irene nodded twice.

“I thought so. Since it’s only the two of us here, I’m going to confess something to you,” Adam leaned forward.

Irene’s eyes widened. What was he going to confess about? Did he commit some great sin? Recalling the stories Irene had heard about Adam, he had committed a lot of great sins in his lifetime.

Why was he going to confess them to her now? Was she a… saint?

“I don’t want a mate,” Adam blurted out.

Irene had been distracted when he spoke. Her head clouded with thoughts of her being a saint but unaware of it all her life.

“Huh?” Irene swatted away her far-fetched thoughts as she tuned back into Adam’s confession.

“I said, I don’t want a mate. I’ve never wanted one. This entire mating ball is nothing but a ruse to sate the council and pack members of Jupiter Pack who have been looking forward to a luna.” Adam explained everything in one go.

Irene cocked her head to one side and curiously inquired, “Why don’t you want a mate and a Luna?”

Adam’s cold features became frosty as he sharply said, “That’s none of your business.”

Irene immediately got the sense that she had asked something stupid, so she humbly said, “Sorry.”

“It’s fine,” Adam breathed out, his voice returning to its casual, smooth state. “Anyway, I’m going to reject you now. I hope you accept.”

Irene’s jaw dropped. She was going to get rejected? AGAIN??

“Do you know why he doesn’t want to be a part of the family?” Irene asked Aria tentatively.Aria seemed to give the question some thought before she responded. “I’m not really sure. All I know is that we tried too late. Hendrick has already gotten used to being by himself.“Trying to shove ourselves into his life now wouldn’t do good. I believe that things will eventually get better. He can’t feel out of place forever, can he?” Aria showed a small smile on her lips after she finished speaking.Irene didn’t say anything. But she wanted to tell Aria that things wouldn’t eventually get better and fall into place. This was because Irene had once believed in the universe working in favor of those who hoped and dreamed for better but it didn’t. It never happened.Irene couldn’t say that she fully understood the Aldrin family’s situation and could relate to Hendrick’s life experience. She couldn’t even compare hers with his. While Hendrick’s mother had dropped him with his father at an age w

  • The Cursed Alpha and His Silly Omega   27: Child Killer

The entirety of the Werewolf community believed that there were only three Aldrin heirs in the world. They were not technically wrong in doing so because the other child was not added to the family register.Aria could still remember the first time she saw her other brother. She had been only seven when he and his mother forced their way into the mansion, demanding to see her father.Aria had found his mother unruly and scary. At the time, she must have been battling with some terminal disease, causing her figure to be all bones and sharp edges. Her skin pale, hair dull, lips chapped.Yet, she had a fierce expression on her face as though she could take on the world if it came at her.Aria’s parents, Ethan and Flora, had taken the woman and her son to their private study upon gazing at them. Aria could still remember how tense Adam had been at the time even though he was almost as young as her; barely nine years old. She’d told him to relax. Adam at that time was different from his cu

Irene did not forget about anything that happened when the moon was up by the time the sun came out. Hendrick kept on appearing in her mind every time she closed her eyes to relax. When the time for breakfast reached, she was already dressed and on the go before Matthew could come over to boss her around.Irene settled on the dining table earlier than Aria. It wasn’t long before Aria arrived at the table in sweats, wearing her jet black hair in a ponytail. There were bags underneath her eyes and a bandage plastered to the side of her chin. Irene immediately assumed the worst when she saw Aria. She shot up from her seat and said, “Are you okay??”She reached to touch Aria but she flinched a bit, dodging her touch. Irene felt bad.“I am. Just a bit roughed up but I’ll live.” Aria spoke with a dismissive tone, then meandered around Irene to settle down on the table.Irene didn’t follow suit quickly. She stood on her spot and gazed at Aria meaningfully. “Come on, let’s eat. Come.” Aria h

  • The Cursed Alpha and His Silly Omega   25: Get Out

‘I’m done for,’ was Irene’s first thought as she picked up the broken half of the red gem.The other half went under the shelf to a corner where she couldn’t reach. She tried to grab it but quit when she realized she was wasting her time.Irene briefly studied the half red gem in her hands. It was beautiful; it wasn’t like anything else she’d ever seen in her life. And it was warm. In her hands, it hummed and vibrated, like it had life. Irene enjoyed the feel. So she kinda maybe possibly stuffed it into the pocket of her robe.Like the universe wanted her to regret her decision, she suddenly began to hear the sound of footsteps. Irene dashed away from the shelf and went over to the potion table, pretending like she was heavily invested in a boiling green potion. It wasn’t long before the footstep sounds came to an end and she heard someone say:“Who are you?” not “What are you doing here?” or “Did you steal anything?” or worse, “Get out.”Irene flipped around to see a man standing at

Okay, maybe not angry.More along the lines of displeased, irritated, annoyed. But why?“H-Hi…” Irene croaked, wanting to do nothing else but turn around and run back into her room.Just seeing Adam in the flesh reminded her of the Adam in her dream (nightmare) who had first hugged her, then grabbed her throat, and threw her away. She was now even more afraid of him than before after witnessing his might. Even though it was in a dream state.“What are you doing here?” Adam didn’t bother to hide the annoyance in his tone. For some reason, Irene felt guilty. Like she was the one who had annoyed him. But it was clear that she didn’t do anything and was innocently dreaming when he bulldozed into her dream and tried to kill her.If anyone was to be annoyed between the two of them, it should be her!Irene frowned at Adam’s question. “I’m here to get water.”Not even a second after she replied, Adam grabbed something from inside the fridge and launched it towards Irene. • The Cursed Alpha and His Silly Omega   23: A Dream

Their surroundings immediately changed. Irene and Adam were now in that small gray room where they first communicated.“What are you doing here–”The rest of her words got clogged in her throat as Adam grabbed her neck. Irene was raised from the floor by the strong grip around her neck.“This is all your fault.” Adam accused her with a hateful tone.Irene began to shake her head, tears gathering in her eyes.“Haah… I didn’t- I didn’t do anything! I swear!” She gasped for air as she defended herself.Adam made a pitiful expression on his features and she thought he was finally going to let her go. He did. But in the cruelest way.He flung her right across the room and she ended up landing on a rough surface. As Irene tried to get up, she realized that she was no longer in the small gray room. Now, she was in that clearing. The one by the border of Jupiter Pack. She recognized it with zero effort. Blood. On her hands. Blood. There was blood everywhere. The bodies of mutilated wolves wer
