I screamed Batya's name continuously, trying to get her to wake up but it was of no use. Batya laid on the floor, the flames surrounding her and getting higher. If I could feel the heat of the flames from where I stood, how would Batya who was in the middle of it all feel? My heart ached as I worried about my daughter who was unconscious. I took a step towards the fire but my fears keep holding me back, stopping me from running to save my daughter. An arrow comes out of no where, flying directly to Greta. Before she had time to react, the arrow hit her, piercing into her torso. Greta grits her teeth in pain as she turned to glare at the person that had shot the arrow. She pulled the arrow out of her body, the spot turning red with blood. I turned to see Atlas running towards us with a bow in his hand. He had a bandage wrapped around his shoulder and he ran straight towards me. Looking back at Batya who was still unconscious. There was no way for me to wake her up without going
My eyes fluttered open, and I looked around the room feeling confused about where I was. Slowly I remembered all that happened yesterday and I groaned in pain, sitting up. The burn marks on my body were all healed by my wolf. Apart from my body being sore, I didn't feel any pain. I finally noticed Atlas who was lying on the bed next to me. His face was etched it worry while he was asleep. He held my hand in his as he slept making my heart melt. Did he sleep here the whole time? I couldn't help but be moved by this, my hand reaching out in their own accord to smoothen his crease. At that exact moment, his eyes snapped open and he fell on me immediately. We both stayed in silence staring at each other until he spoke up first. “How do you feel?” He asked me, his morning voice was deeper than usual and it caused a weird sensation in my stomach. Ignoring the way I was feeling, I answered back. “I’m alright. How is everyone? What happened after I passed out?” I asked.
After Daciana and I stopped crying. I left to go and shower and do other thingsI was happy that Daciana and Alisa had finally decided to forgive me.Arnou had come to thank me earlier too. He was grateful that I had risked it all for his daughter. While I was happy with this development, I didn't see the need for them to thank me for saving Batya.I was serious when I said that I was going to do it again if the need arose.I just pray that Batya's life won't be in danger anymore.I hadn't seen Atlas after that. He was currently having a meeting with some of his people. They were talking about going to Hottigan to save his mate.“Heyley I have an offer for you,” Daciana said and I turned to look at her, still taking a sip of my water. With the war with Greta over for now, we were preparing to go back to the Lycan territory.“Since you are no longer in exile. I'd like to give you a position in Arnou's court.I immediately spat out the water in my mouth, coughing violently.Daciana imme
Atlas stared at me, his eyes held so much pain in them that you would think that I was the one who hurt him instead of the other way around.I wondered if I was being too harsh on him but when I remembered that he had lied to me about everything, I cleared such thoughts.“Hayley, please just listen to me,” Atlas started, taking a step towards me but Daciana stopped him with her eyes. With the way she looked at him, it wouldn't be a surprise if she burnt him if he took a step closer.Daciana and my relationship had gotten significantly better after that time in her room, and we were like sisters once more.“Stay where you are and speak, she can hear you from this distance,” Daciana warned, her eyes held fury as she glared at Atlas but she didn't want to butt into it. She just wanted to make sure I was safe but she wouldn't impose her thoughts on me because she didn't know about the whole. And I respected that. This was my battle to face.“What else do you want to say? Atlas you had a
My heart dropped when I heard what the driver had said.Bandits up ahead.A few years back this road was one of the safest you would ever journey across. The bandits started showing up, claiming it as their turf. These bandits were rouge wolves who came together to form a band in this part, and they rob people who pass by.They usually have a leader who is the strongest among them, majority of their loot goes to whoever this person was.I turned to Atlas and his face was ashen. I wasn't sure if I could fight them off by myself and Atlas didn't have this wolf. I had no idea how we were going to escape this.“Can we push through?” Atlas asked and the driver replied in the negative.“Our efforts would be futile if we even try, they would turn to their wolves and might even kill the horses.” The carriage driver said. This situation was graver than I thought. We needed to fight our way out then. I looked out the window one more time, counting seven men in total. There was one person in t
Next Chapter.“Who are you? And how did you–” Atlas started to ask but he waved him off, cutting his question short.I shook my head at Atlas when he wanted to say something else to their leader, making him keep quiet.Atlas looked angry but he could only keep his mouth shut. He had to do that if he wanted to keep his life that is.“That's not important now, is it? You're both not in the right position to fight us, so it would be in your best interest to stay still. Tie them up and bring them with us.” The leader said, turning away. Two of his men walked to us with ropes, baldy looking at me with obvious dislike. The wound on his neck had healed, but it didn't mean that the bruise on his ego was forgotten. He was held with a knife to his by a woman, for that brief moment his life was in my hands and it had happened in front of his teammates.I don't think he would ever forget that.“Atlas.. what are we going to do?” I whispered to him, feeling helpless. This was just the first day of
_Heyley’s POV_The road was bumpy as we kept riding. We had taken a different route from the one that we needed to take. I kept turning around to try and find Atlas but Kannon stopped me each time. He seemed annoyed the last time I turned my head and he forcefully pushed my head back. “Kept your head still if you still want it on your body,” Was the last thing he said to me so I decided to stay still. I knew that he could easily kill me if he wanted. I wasn't the only woman he could have. My back was pressed against his chest and I could feel the muscles there. I tried to move forward but he grabbed my waist pulling me back to him.“Don't test me,” He hissed, his nails digging into my flesh.Biting back the pain I felt, I nodded my head to tell him I understood as I proceeded to stay still. I need to find a way to get rid of him by tonight so we can leave this night. I knew that he was going to try something, and that's when I was going to strike. I obviously couldn't fight a o
I couldn't mind-link him and tell him what was going on. He didn't even have his wolf.Atlas looked at me and I shook my head slowly, trying to tell him that it wasn't true. His brows shot up and he looked at Kannon and looked back at me and I shook my head once more. I didn't know if he understood what my shaking head meant, but let's hope so.But how to tell him to knock the rest unconscious proved to be difficult. We didn't know how many they had at the camp, and if it was just the seven of them here. I hoped it was the seven though, if they end up being more, things would be hard.I don't know why I wanted to assure Atlas that I wasn't really into Kannon, it felt bad seeing his face that way when I wasn't even his mate.We are on this journey to get his mate back from Greta. And I should be the one angry about being lied to. I even said I was going to keep my distance from him throughout the journey. Who knew that we would be held captive by bandits on the same day we left?If Dac
