The Alpha's Rage

Chapter 2: The Alpha King's Rage

The Alpha King stormed through the corridors of the grand castle, his eyes burning with a fiery rage. His mind flashed back to the fateful day nine months ago when his brother, Draco, had planted a dangerous idea in his head.

"Such a foolish decision," he muttered to himself. As he marched, he noticed a guard standing just outside his chambers. Irritation consumed him, and he turned to confront the guard.

"Don't you know how to greet your Alpha?" he growled, causing the guard to drop to his knees in fear. "Did you not see the others? Or should I show you?" His voice deepened, and the guard trembled, unable to control his bladder.

Observing the guard's embarrassment, the Alpha King gestured for him to rise. With a sigh of relief mixed with stifled sobs, the guard hurriedly opened the door to the King's chambers. As he turned to express his gratitude, the sound of a skull meeting the wall silenced him forever. The Alpha King had smashed his head against the solid structure.

"Learn to greet the gods in the afterlife," the Alpha King purred as he passed the lifeless body, taking no notice of the bloodstain on his majestic robes.

Just as he was about to enter his closet, a cold voice cut through the silence.

"I heard what you did to that maiden," his brother Draco's voice rang out.

Startled, the Alpha King turned to face Draco. Anger radiated from Draco's eyes as he spoke.

"Leave now, unless you want me to remove your head from your body. You brought this mess upon us. You brought her to me. You convinced me that having a son would make me a greater leader to our people and the clans beyond! But what has she given me? I'm certain the child isn't mine."

Draco took a step back, his eyes filled with disbelief and anguish. The Alpha King remained unfazed, even as Draco unexpectedly punched him in the face. "Is that all you have?" the Alpha King taunted, moving towards the closet. "Consider this your final warning. Leave my chambers. Take that illegitimate child with you. I know you desire her for yourself, anyway—"

"How can you say that?!" Draco interrupted, his anger boiling over.

"Silence!" the Alpha King thundered. "Do not think my spies do not report back to me out of fear. I know everything. What the two of you have done together..."

Draco's reaction confirmed the Alpha King's suspicions. Hiding the truth was futile. His brother, the Alpha, was aware, and though their actions were punishable by death, Draco knew better than to counter the Alpha King's threats. He would keep silent and accept his fate.

The memories of that fateful day, so vividly etched in his mind, haunted Draco. He recalled how he had shattered. Without invitation, he had entered Luna's chambers to find her partially dressed. Though angry at Draco's intrusion, Luna did not display her displeasure. She was six months pregnant, her mounds ever-growing with life. Draco had sat her down, attempting to initiate a conversation about her well-being and their unborn child. Misinterpreting her silence, he had taken her in his arms, caressed her lips. He believed she reciprocated his feelings, until she abruptly struck him across the face.

"Leave my room!" he remembered her yelling, her teary eyes reflecting her pain. It was the last word she had spoken to him, and it echoed in his mind every day, a constant reminder of the pain he had caused her.

Shaking himself from his reverie, Draco realized that the Alpha King had left the room. He mustered the fragments of his anger and hurried to the room where Victoria had been taken by the midwives. The pathway there was eerily quiet and chilled.

"Why haven't the midwives returned to assist Victoria? Why would they leave her alone?" Draco wondered, quickening his pace. As he reached the room, he was taken aback by the gaping hole in the stone wall, allowing the frigid air to infiltrate.

It explained the chilling cold.

"Victoria?"

He burst into the room, scanning every corner for Victoria. The scent of fresh blood still lingered, indicating she had recently given birth. Draco recognized the distinct aroma of the newborn and weakly smiled.

"Victoria?!"

But his roar was met only by the howling wind of dawn. Victoria was nowhere to be seen. Neither was the sound of a crying baby.

Victoria had fled.

* * *

Victoria clutched her baby tightly, her own demeanor growing calm. The child's large, dark eyes, so reminiscent of the Alpha King's, stared back at her with curiosity. Victoria's heart sank for the umpteenth time. She had been naive to believe that the Alpha King could change for her. It had been foolish of her to think that he could ever learn to love her, even in the smallest measure. As her sorrow turned into anger, she silently pleaded with her trembling legs to carry her away from this cruel and icy universe.

There were whispers of a world beyond her own, beyond the realm of wolf clans. A world inhabited by humans. She knew the Alpha King had encountered humans in the past, indicating their existence.

Approaching the border that separated her clan's territory, Victoria fervently muttered prayers, beseeching the Moon Goddess to protect her child's life.

"What is your purpose at the border, young woman?" A guard began marching toward her. Victoria surveyed the gates, searching for any additional guards. To her surprise, he appeared to be the only one present. She braced herself, pooling all her remaining strength.

Just a little closer.

"Answer me, maiden!"

A little closer.

In an instant, Victoria carefully set her baby on the icy ground, transforming into her wolf form with remarkable speed. Taking advantage of the moment, she stealthily lunged at the guard, sinking her teeth into his vulnerable neck and breaking his bones as if they were twigs. Retreating just as swiftly, she retrieved her child and burst through the gates, fleeing into the wild.

She ran tirelessly, reciting silent prayers in her mind, desperately hoping to find a land inhabited by humans.
