ALARIC

The moment Beta Theodore said she was gone, I knew she wouldn’t be found inside the pack walls.

I didn’t ask how long. I didn’t ask who helped her. I turned and left.

The forest was already awake, moonrise close, the air sharp with warning. Her scent was weak but present—fear, blood, and desperation tangled together.

She hadn’t planned this escape. She was running from something, not toward freedom.

I followed her scent through the woods.

Halfway through the trees, a folded paper drifted

ALARICThe door closed behind her.The sound echoed louder than it should have.I stayed where I was, my back to the room, my fists clenched so tight my knuckles burned. Steam curled around me, thick and suffocating, but it did nothing to calm the storm tearing through my chest.Behind me, laughter lingered, soft and confident. One of the women stepped closer, her bare feet splashing lightly against the water, her boobs pressed against my chest. “Alpha,” she murmured, her voice honeyed, practiced. “Should we—”“Leave.”The word came out sharp, final.Everywhere turned silent, and they all stared at me.I used to take my bath with them but everything changed when Desdemona came. I can't touch them.My wolf is disgusted by their touch.I turned slowly, my gaze cutting through them like a blade. Three pairs of eyes stared back at me—confused, surprised, slightly offended.“I didn’t call you here,” I said coldly. “And you will not touch me.”I continued. “Who called you here?”“Beta Theod

DESDEMONAI stood at Alpha Alaric’s door. I almost knocked. I almost confessed everything to him. I wanted to know the truth—the truth about everything.I turned away, taking a few steps, when suddenly the door opened, as if he knew I had been standing there.I turned back and stared into his eyes. My lips dried up, and I pressed them together.“Why are you here? Do you want to see me?” he asked. What did you know about Diane’s death? Did you know about her identity? Was that why you killed her?The questions ran through my head. But my lips remained shut. I shook my head lightly. “Nothing. I just wanted to ask if you needed anything.”“Bring hot water to my bathtub,” he said.I nodded. The questions kept popping up in my head. I wanted answers. I needed them. I needed to believe him. I wanted him to tell me that he knew nothing about the accusations.I turned my back and walked to the kitchen.I held the kitchen door, my nails almost digging into it. Instead, they began to bleed. I l

ALARICI stood alone in my office, staring out the window at the dark forest. The enemies are leading in the dark waiting for the right time to attack.I had done what needed to be done, control restored, boundaries enforced and order maintained. And yet, my chest felt tightened. My wolf paced restlessly, snarling, clawing at my ribs. I could feel his claws scraping against my bones, his growl vibrating through my blood.“You are losing her,” he growled.“She disobeyed,” I muttered aloud, gripping the edge of the desk. “She is vulnerable. Surrounded by enemies who smile too easily. People are circling her, waiting for a moment of weakness to take her away from me. Far from where I can reach.”“From you?” the wolf scoffed. “Or from your cage?”My hand tightened.“She is safest under my rule,” I said firmly. “I will not allow her to be used. I will not allow her to be taken.”“You punished grief.” my wolf shot back, voice sharp as a blade. “Not betrayal. Not treachery. Grief.”The words

DESDEMONAThe silence after Diane’s burial followed me back to the pack house.I have been visiting there more often, just to stare at her grave. I blamed myself countless times, wanting to go back and stop it all from happening.Beta Theodore words clung to my skin, heavy and cold, seeping into my bones. He has come to me again, but to warn me to stay away.He wanted to protect his pack and I failed to protect someone that had always cared about me.I still remember him saying Diane is not innocent. I know Beta Theodore all words matter and it has a meaning to it. I kept on wondering what he meant by that.Wolves bowed as I passed, their eyes filled with something I couldn’t name, pity, fear, reverence. I didn’t acknowledge any of it. I kept my head down and my steps steady.I don't want this, not their pity or fear, all my life I have always been treated like garbage. A useless child you my parents. Cursed child to my village.Inside, the halls were quieter than usual. Too quiet.I

ALARICI stood by the door and noticed something was wrong.Desdemona did not look at me when I entered the room. She sat by the tall window, the gray morning light spilling across her pale face, her hands folded neatly in her lap as if she had been placed there by someone else. No chains. No guards. No fear trembling through her body. Her gaze stared into the empty space, looking at everything else except for me. As if she is deliberately ignoring my present. That unsettled me more than her screams ever had.My wolf stirred beneath my skin, restless, alert. The bond between us, once sharp and screaming, felt… muted. Not broken, but thinner. Like a thread stretched too far without snapping.“Desdemona,” I said quietly. She turned her head then, slowly, as if my presence required thought before acknowledgment. Her eyes met mine, and for the first time since Diane’s death, there was no accusation in them.No grief either.“Yes, my Alpha?” she replied. The words were polite, controlled a

DESDEMONALord Kieran’s arms were steady around me, I didn’t pull away. I didn’t cling either. I stayed there, frozen, my face pressed against his chest while my body slowly forgot how to feel safe anywhere else. His scent was unfamiliar, not Alpha, not pack, not possession. Just… human. Quiet. Gentle in a way that felt almost wrong. His hand rested at my back, not possessive, not demanding—just there, as if he was afraid that if he let go, I would finally fall apart. I stared past his shoulder at the dark window, at my reflection that no longer looked like me. My eyes were hollow. My face is thinner. The girl staring back looked like someone already halfway gone.I wondered how nice it would be if Diane were still here. The thought crushed me.My chest tightened, and I pressed my head deeper into his shoulder, breathing him in, not because I wanted him, but because I didn’t want to be alone inside my own head.I had almost killed myself. The realization came quietly, without drama.
