4. Prince Valen

Valen

The room was pitch dark with the single candle being the only light illuminating the room. An unusual sound was rising in the room which was coming from the maid kneeling on the carpet. “I’m sorry master. I didn't intend to kill you!” She exclaimed in her cries. My eyes were fixated on her as she went on pleading which are nothing to me. She made a mistake and she's going to pay for that. With her life. I don't give second chance. If you try to misbehave, I discard you.

“Take her away” I said. And the three men appeared from the dark and grabbed her.

“Master! Forgive me please!”

“Master!” her voice echo all over the room. I wasn't a least bit moved and I have no intention to. Her voice was no longer in sight when they closed the door. I reached for the lamp and press the button. The room lighten up with dim blue right. I pour in the remaining beer that was left out from the bottle and gulped it down.

A knock sounded from the door. “Come in” I commanded my voice coming out hoarse. The person from the other end made his presence known as he enters.

“Master we have news” My personal guard commenced passing me a while envelop.

“What is it about Vito?” I asked not taking the paper from his outstretched ones. I don't want to waste my time in matters that are not important.

“I received a letter from our chip. Your father is having a housewarming party. And he's planning on acquiring the Castel pack”

I knew a day like this will come. He has been planning it for a while. He wants power in his hands. And I'm afraid things are going to he midway soon.

“When is that going to take place?” I asked again this time around I sat up making slow steps to my room balcony. The night was at the peak. The half moon was staring directly at me.

“In two days” I clenched my fist. Someone I need to come up with a way to stop that from happening. It was so easy to lure my father. So frustrating that I won't be able to get out of here like I wanted.

“What should I do Master” Vito voice revamped to my eardrums once again.

“Await for my order”

“Alright Master. And I have one more news”

“Go on”

“The full moon is coming up in the next three days” And that grabbed more of my attention. I turned around and spared the man a glance. I might get a chance this time around. My father is taking over the Castel pack in two days and the full moon will appear in three days. Something needs to be done.

“Summon the sorcerer”

“Sure Master” I watched as he turn on his heels and walk away before I turned my attention back to the scenery outside. The silence that engulf me was something I was used to. I don't know for how long I stood there until another knock sounded from the door followed by the voice of Vito.

“Master”

“You called for me Master Valen” The elderly woman said bowing her head a bit.

“Have a seat Adelaide” I ordered. She did as told and grabbed the old sofa that was facing my main seat.

“I know I don't need to explain anything further. You know what is going on” I commenced as I sat down on my master chair.

“Yes Master Valen. There's a storm coming in the next three days”

“A storm?” I repeated. She chanted some unfamiliar words counting the beads in her hands.

“Yes. A huge storm”

“We have to stop it then” I uttered.

“It cannot be stopped. Its destined to happen. It might or might not be a threat to your life master Valen” Adelaide has been my personal sorcerer the very first day I was exiled to Mont Givana. The day I was locked out of the presence of the world. I know whenever she said something is happening, it does happen.

“We just have to wait for the storm. And hope it won't destroy your life”

“My life?” I found it funny when she said it. Do I even have the life?

“Adelaide you're talking about life that is not there. What life would a cursed beast like me have” I asserted.

“You have a life master Valen. Your heart is just dead. The curse has weaken your heart”

“Alright Adelaide. Thank you for your time” I said changing the topic. I know if we keep on talking about it, she’d keep dragging and possibly say something that I would not like to hear.

“Thank you master Valen. Do have a good night rest” And she left. Her walking stick being her support. I sunk in a deep breath. I have to mentally prepare myslef for the storm that is coming.

“Master don't you think we need to do something about what the sorcerer said”

“No Vito. Adelaide doesn't give false message. We won't be able to escape it even if we try. We just have to wait for it”

“Okay Master. As you say”

“You may take your leave Vito”

“Thank you Master” Vito walked himself out of my room. And I was left alone to think of the upcoming storm. I’m getting more chained day by day. I can no longer summon my wolf due to the curse. Like Adelaide said my heart is dead same as my wolf. I have discarded the thought of having a mate a long time ago. I could recall the day my father gave the order that I should be taken out of the pack house to prevent calamities from befalling in the pack due. I was assigned not more than five maids with four guards and the sorcerer. Since that day I haven't seen the light of the outside world. I was caged inside. Left in the curse cold Mont Givana.

It has become a routine before I retire for the night, I drown myself in the pool of the night moon. From the balcony of my room I can see the outside gate of Mont Givana. The gates that opens once in a full moon. And the full moon appears once in two month. When it opens, I get to wander around the outside world.

I remembered the day I went out to get some fresh air around the stream. Then I met her. Talking to her wasn't the plan but something ignite in me when I heard her sniffing a cry. I didn't expect her to lash out on me when I was trying to help. It's not my thing to comfort other. I don't even know how to. But something about her made me let one of my guard down. And her return gesture wasn't pleasant. I wonder from which pack she was and what really happened to her.

At times her thought used to cross my mind. Nevertheless, I don't put much thought in it because I know we aren't meeting again. It was a coincidence the last time. I don't think that coincidence will happen again. I changed into my sleeping robe before proceeding to retire in bed. The light from outside was still illuminating the room as I closed my eyes and allow sleep to engulfed me.

As normal as it is to me, I woke up with the pain in my chest which I started feeling few months ago. Adelaide has informed me it was the curse spreading in my body. If that keeps going on, my body will paralyze completely. A cure is the only way out. But then, we haven't found the cure. Adelaide is trying her best to find a solution to it. I'm afraid it might be too late. What will be left for me is to dissipate from the life of the world.

I gulped down the pill that was given to me by Adelaide to subside the pain. My breakfast was being served by my maid Cindy. I was the only one occupying the master chair as I eat. The living room was quite with no sound making out inside. The only sound was that of the spoon fisting against the plate. By me.

I took in the last spoon when Vito walked in making his way towards me. “Good morning master” He greeted in his respectful voice.

“Morning Vito. Hope you had a great night”

“I did master”

My brows furrows when he didn't move an inch. Normally if we exchange greeting in the morning, he will go on his way. Yet, whenever he stays after the greetings means something is up his sleeves. “Do you have any news Vito?” I asked.

“Actually yes master”

“What is it about this time around” I hope my father didn't make change of plans. When I'm yet to make mine.

“We have an intruder”
