LOGINREIGN'S POV
Sonya signs the contract with shaking hands.
I watch every stroke of the pen, every hesitation, every moment she considers backing out. But she doesn't. Because she's loyal to a fault, even to someone who doesn't deserve her loyalty.
Derek doesn't deserve shit from this woman.
The moment she finishes signing, I lock the contract in my desk drawer. It's done. She's mine now. For six months, at least.
Though I'm betting it'll be much longer than that.
"Congratulations," I tell her. "You're now mine."
"For six months," she corrects quickly, and I almost smile at how she's already trying to maintain control.
"We'll see."
The truth is, six months won't be enough. I already know that. I've known it since last night when I saw her hiding in those bushes, looking at Derek like he hung the fucking moon.
She deserves better than pining after my idiot brother.
She deserves someone who sees her. Who wants her. Who'll burn the world down before letting anyone hurt her.
She deserves me.
My phone rings, and I look down to see my Beta, Landon, calling.
Timing couldn't be worse.
"I need to take this. Wait here." I step into the hallway, answering. "What's the matter, Lan?"
"We have a problem, Reign," Landon says. "Ronan found out Derek came to you. He's pissed. Word is he's sending men to make an example before the forty-eight hours are up."
Fuck.
"How long do we have?"
"An hour, maybe two. I've already sent some gammas to look after Derek, but Ronan's people are fast."
"Send more gammas. Now. And prepare the guest house, we're having a permanent visitor." I glance back at my office door, where Sonya's waiting. "Actually, prepare the Luna's suite. Connect it to mine."
"The Luna's suite?" Landon sounds surprised. "Reign, I thought this was just a contract thing?"
"It is. But she's under my protection now. That means she gets treated like my Luna. Full stop."
"Understood. What about her apartment?"
"Send someone to pack her things. Everything. I want her moved in by tonight."
"On it."
I hang up and head back inside. Sonya's staring at her phone, clearly texting Derek. Her face is conflicted with guilt, fear, and determination, all mixing together.
She has no idea how beautiful she is. How her emotions play across her face like an open book. How badly I want to kiss away every doubt she's feeling.
"Change of plans," I tell her. "We're leaving. Now."
She looks up, startled. "What? Why?"
"Because the Rogue King just found out Derek sent you to me for help. And he's not happy about it." I grab my jacket. "Which means Derek is in immediate danger, and you're coming with me to my estate where you'll be protected."
"But I need to…"
"Pack your things? Already taken care of. I sent someone to your apartment a minute ago." I take her arm, feeling how delicate her bones are under my grip.
She's so much smaller than me. Vulnerable. The need to protect her is almost overwhelming. "You signed the contract, Sonya. That means you follow my rules now. And rule number one is your safety comes first."
"You sent someone to my apartment? Without asking me?"
"Yes."
"That's insane!"
"That's life with me, little omega. Better get used to it."
I can see her wanting to argue, wanting to fight back. And fuck, I love that fire in her eyes. Most people cower when I use my Alpha tone. She just gets angry.
Perfect.

In the SUV, Landon's driving and I'm on the phone with my head gamma, coordinating Derek's protection detail.
"I don't give a shit what Ronan wants," I tell him. "Derek Savage is under my protection now. Anyone who touches him answers to me."
I hang up and look at Sonya. She's staring out the window, her face tight. Still processing everything.
"Your ex-boyfriend is an idiot," I say.
"He's not my boyfriend."
"But you want him to be." I study her profile, the curve of her neck, the way her red hair falls over her shoulder. "Tell me, Sonya, what is it about Derek that makes you so desperate? Is it the way he ignores you? The way he fucks other girls while you pine?"
"Stop it."
But I can't stop. I need her to see what's right in front of her. "Or maybe you just like the idea of him. The safe, familiar choice. Because the alternative, admitting what you really want scares the shit out of you."
"And what do I really want?" She turns to face me, those hazel eyes flashing with challenge.
My wolf howls in approval. Yes. Fight me. Show me that fire.
"Me."
I close the distance and kiss her before she can respond. Before she can think. Before she can talk herself out of what we both know is inevitable.
She tastes like vanilla and something sweeter. Her lips are soft, hesitant at first, then hungry. Her hands fist in my jacket, pulling me closer instead of pushing me away.
Through the kiss, I feel it, the connection that's been building since last night. The pull that goes beyond physical attraction. The bond that makes my wolf recognize her.
‘Mate,’’ he whispers. ‘Ours.’
I pull back before I completely lose control in the back of my SUV with Landon right there.
"That," I say, stroking her swollen lips with my thumb, "is what you really want. And I'm going to give it to you. Every filthy, forbidden bit of it."
She's staring at me with wide eyes, lips parted, breathing hard. Aroused and confused and completely perfect.
"Welcome home, little omega," I murmur as we pull through my estate gates. "Your new life starts now."
SONYA'S POVLandon turns out to be surprisingly normal. He's funny, easy to talk to, and doesn't make me feel like prey the way Reign does. We run the trail at a comfortable pace, and he points out different landmarks, the pack training grounds, the northern border, the lake where they hold summer gatherings. But even as he shows me all of them, I can't stop thinking about what Reign said about punishing me. And I'd be lying if I said I didn't know exactly what he means.Fuck."So," Landon's voice interrupts my thoughts as we're cooling down, "how are you handling all this?""All what?""Living with Reign. The contract. The whole 'fake mate' situation." He gives me a sympathetic look. "I know my Alpha can be... intense.""That's one word for it."Landon laughs. "He's not as bad as he seems. Well, actually, he is. But he's got reasons.""Like what?""That's not my story to tell." We stop by the front steps, and he hands me a water bottle. "Just... give him a chance. Reign doesn't let
SONYA'S POVI barely sleep.Every time I close my eyes, I see Reign. Feel his hands on my skin. Hear his voice in my ear saying things that should scare me but instead make heat pool between my thighs, my pussy aching for his touch.I'm so screwed. At five a.m., I give up on sleep and decide to explore. The estate is a maze, but I eventually find my way to what looks like a gym. And of course, Reign's there.Shirtless.Hitting a punching bag with enough force to make the chain rattle.Sweet goddess.I should leave. Turn around and pretend I was never here. But I'm frozen, watching the way his muscles flex with each hit, the way sweat glints on his skin, the way those tattoos move like living things across his back and shoulders. His abs clench tight, leading down to the V of his hips disappearing into low-slung sweatpants that do nothing to hide the thick bulge of his cock straining against the fabric."Enjoying the show?" Reign asks without turning around.Shit."I was just… I could
SONYA'S POVReign's estate isn't a house. It's a freaking fortress. It has stone walls. Iron gates. Security cameras everywhere. The main building looks like someone crossed a modern mansion with a medieval castle and threw in a few million dollars for good measure."Oh shit," I breathe as the SUV pulls up the circular driveway."Like it?" Reign asks, watching my reaction with amusement."It's terrifying.""Good. That's the point." He opens his door and extends a hand to help me out. "Welcome to Steel Kraith territory, little omega."I ignore his hand and climb out myself, which makes him smirk. Asshole. The front doors open before we reach them, and a woman in her fifties with kind eyes and graying hair steps out."Alpha Reign," she greets warmly with a bow, then turns to me. "And you must be Sonya. I'm Mrs. Wren, head of the household staff.""Hi," I manage, feeling completely out of my depth."Mrs. Wren will show you to your room," Reign states. "Get settled. We'll have dinner at

SONYA'S POVThe word hangs heavy in the air between us, making my nipples harden against my bra."Excuse me?"Reign sets down his glass and walks toward me, slow and predatory, his presence overwhelming. "I'll pay off Derek's debt and guarantee his protection from the Rogue King. In exchange, you sign a contract agreeing to be mine.""Yours?" I take a step back, my ass hitting the edge of his desk. "What does that even mean?""It means you move into my estate. You act as my mate in public. You fulfill all the duties of a Luna." He's close enough now that I have to cock my head back to look at him, his heat radiating through his suit. "And in private, you belong to me completely.""That's insane.""That's the deal.""You can't just… I'm going to be your stepsister in three months!""Which makes it even more interesting, doesn't it?" His hand comes up, tucking a strand of my hair behind my ear. "Besides, we both know you're wasted on Derek. He doesn't see you. Not the way I do.""You do
SONYA'S POVI wake up to seventeen missed calls from Derek and a text that makes my stomach drop.‘Derek:’ We need to talk, Sonya. NOW. Come to the packhouse. Alone. It's seven in the morning. What could possibly be so urgent that…My phone rings. Derek's name flashes on the screen."Hello?" I answer, my voice rough with sleep."Sonya, thank goddess." Derek sounds panicked. Actually panicked. "Where are you?""Home? Where else would I be?" I sit up, pushing my red hair out of my face. "Derek, what's wrong?""I'm in trouble. Serious fucking trouble." I hear him moving, a door closing. "I need your help."My chest tightens. "What kind of trouble?""The kind that gets you killed if you don't fix it in the next forty-eight hours."Now I'm fully awake. "What did you do?""I can't explain over the phone. Please, Sonya. I know I don't deserve to ask, but you're the only person I can trust with this."The only person he can trust. Not Brittany. Not Parker, his best friend. Me.I should tell h
