LOGINREIGN'S POV
Sonya signs the contract with shaking hands.
I watch every stroke of the pen, every hesitation, every moment she considers backing out. But she doesn't. Because she's loyal to a fault, even to someone who doesn't deserve her loyalty.
Derek doesn't deserve shit from this woman.
The moment she finishes signing, I lock the contract in my desk drawer. It's done. She's mine now. For six months, at least.
Though I'm betting it'll be much longer than that.
"Congratulations," I tell her. "You're now mine."
"For six months," she corrects quickly, and I almost smile at how she's already trying to maintain control.
"We'll see."
The truth is, six months won't be enough. I already know that. I've known it since last night when I saw her hiding in those bushes, looking at Derek like he hung the fucking moon.
She deserves better than pining after my idiot brother.
She deserves someone who sees her. Who wants her. Who'll burn the world down before letting anyone hurt her.
She deserves me.
My phone rings, and I look down to see my Beta, Landon, calling.
Timing couldn't be worse.
"I need to take this. Wait here." I step into the hallway, answering. "What's the matter, Lan?"
"We have a problem, Reign," Landon says. "Ronan found out Derek came to you. He's pissed. Word is he's sending men to make an example before the forty-eight hours are up."
Fuck.
"How long do we have?"
"An hour, maybe two. I've already sent some gammas to look after Derek, but Ronan's people are fast."
"Send more gammas. Now. And prepare the guest house, we're having a permanent visitor." I glance back at my office door, where Sonya's waiting. "Actually, prepare the Luna's suite. Connect it to mine."
"The Luna's suite?" Landon sounds surprised. "Reign, I thought this was just a contract thing?"
"It is. But she's under my protection now. That means she gets treated like my Luna. Full stop."
"Understood. What about her apartment?"
"Send someone to pack her things. Everything. I want her moved in by tonight."
"On it."
I hang up and head back inside. Sonya's staring at her phone, clearly texting Derek. Her face is conflicted with guilt, fear, and determination, all mixing together.
She has no idea how beautiful she is. How her emotions play across her face like an open book. How badly I want to kiss away every doubt she's feeling.
"Change of plans," I tell her. "We're leaving. Now."
She looks up, startled. "What? Why?"
"Because the Rogue King just found out Derek sent you to me for help. And he's not happy about it." I grab my jacket. "Which means Derek is in immediate danger, and you're coming with me to my estate where you'll be protected."
"But I need to…"
"Pack your things? Already taken care of. I sent someone to your apartment a minute ago." I take her arm, feeling how delicate her bones are under my grip.
She's so much smaller than me. Vulnerable. The need to protect her is almost overwhelming. "You signed the contract, Sonya. That means you follow my rules now. And rule number one is your safety comes first."
"You sent someone to my apartment? Without asking me?"
"Yes."
"That's insane!"
"That's life with me, little omega. Better get used to it."
I can see her wanting to argue, wanting to fight back. And fuck, I love that fire in her eyes. Most people cower when I use my Alpha tone. She just gets angry.
Perfect.

In the SUV, Landon's driving and I'm on the phone with my head gamma, coordinating Derek's protection detail.
"I don't give a shit what Ronan wants," I tell him. "Derek Savage is under my protection now. Anyone who touches him answers to me."
I hang up and look at Sonya. She's staring out the window, her face tight. Still processing everything.
"Your ex-boyfriend is an idiot," I say.
"He's not my boyfriend."
"But you want him to be." I study her profile, the curve of her neck, the way her red hair falls over her shoulder. "Tell me, Sonya, what is it about Derek that makes you so desperate? Is it the way he ignores you? The way he fucks other girls while you pine?"
"Stop it."
But I can't stop. I need her to see what's right in front of her. "Or maybe you just like the idea of him. The safe, familiar choice. Because the alternative, admitting what you really want scares the shit out of you."
"And what do I really want?" She turns to face me, those hazel eyes flashing with challenge.
My wolf howls in approval. Yes. Fight me. Show me that fire.
"Me."
I close the distance and kiss her before she can respond. Before she can think. Before she can talk herself out of what we both know is inevitable.
She tastes like vanilla and something sweeter. Her lips are soft, hesitant at first, then hungry. Her hands fist in my jacket, pulling me closer instead of pushing me away.
Through the kiss, I feel it, the connection that's been building since last night. The pull that goes beyond physical attraction. The bond that makes my wolf recognize her.
‘Mate,’’ he whispers. ‘Ours.’
I pull back before I completely lose control in the back of my SUV with Landon right there.
"That," I say, stroking her swollen lips with my thumb, "is what you really want. And I'm going to give it to you. Every filthy, forbidden bit of it."
She's staring at me with wide eyes, lips parted, breathing hard. Aroused and confused and completely perfect.
"Welcome home, little omega," I murmur as we pull through my estate gates. "Your new life starts now."
SONYA'S POVI slowly open my eyes to a basement that smells like mold and blood. Not the best start to my day at all.My head is pounding, my neck stings where the knife cut me, and my wrists are zip-tied to a metal chair that's seen better days. Like, several decades ago."Fuck," I mutter, trying to assess the situation without panicking. Panicking won't help. Panicking is what gets you killed in horror movies, and I refuse to be that girl.Even if I'm currently living that girl's nightmare. The basement is mostly empty except for some old furniture and a single lightbulb hanging from the ceiling. There's a door at the top of a rickety staircase, and I can hear muffled voices beyond it.One of them is definitely Zane. The psychopath who just murdered Vanessa in cold blood and kidnapped me.The other voices are unfamiliar. Male. His men, arguing."Boss shouldn't have killed the blonde yet," one says. "She could've been useful.""Vanessa was a liability," another responds. "You saw how
ZANE'S POVI drop the unconscious omega onto the basement floor like a sack of grain, watching her head loll to the side. Her red hair spills across the concrete, and there's a thin line of blood on her throat where Angus held the knife.Perfect."Careful with her," Ravenna says from the doorway, descending the stairs with that hypnotic sway of her hips. "We need her intact for the ritual.""She's fine." I grab a metal chair from the corner and haul Sonya into it, zip-tying her wrists with practiced efficiency. "Just a little roughed up. Adds to the ambiance."Ravenna laughs, that dark, throaty sound that first drew me to her five years ago in a shithole bar out in the outlands, both of us nursing wounds from the Savage family. We bonded over hatred and whiskey, then over something much more carnal."You’re a menace, Zane." Ravenna murmurs."Your favorite one."“I wouldn’t want you any different.” She runs her fingers through my hair as she circles behind me, her breasts pressing aga
REIGN'S POVThe moment Sonya goes limp in that bastard's arms, something inside me shatters."No!" I roar, lunging forward, but Zane's already dragging her toward the door.Landon fires again, but Zane's man is using Sonya as a shield. One wrong shot and she's dead."Stand down!" I order through gritted teeth, every instinct screaming at me to tear them apart. "Stand the fuck down!"Zane smiles, knowing he's won. "Smart choice, Alpha. We'll be in touch about the curse transfer. Until then, your little omega stays with us."He disappears through the door with Sonya unconscious in his arms, and I'm left standing in my own foyer, covered in Vanessa's blood, watching another woman I care about being taken from me.Not again.Never fucking again."Landon," I snap, my voice razor-sharp. "Get every tracker we have. Call in favors from every allied pack. I want satellite imagery, traffic cameras, anything that can tell us where they're taking her.""Already on it." He's on his phone, barking
SONYA'S POV"More real than anything I've felt in three years," Reign says honestly, his gaze steady and unflinching. "You're… you're my mate, Sonya. And I know I should have told you about the curse. About your bloodline. I was wrong to keep that from you. But everything else, the way I feel when you're near, the way you make me want to be better, the way I'm completely fucking obsessed with you, that's all real.”"How do I know that's not just the mate bond talking?" I ask, my brow furrowed."Because we haven't completed the mate bond yet,” he replies sincerely. “We haven't sealed it. Which means what I feel? It's all me. Not fate, not destiny, not some magical connection. Just me, wanting you so badly it's driving me insane."The words settle over me like a weight, heavy with meaning. He's right. We haven't completed the bond. Meaning the pull I feel toward him, the way my body responds, the way I can't stop thinking about him even when I'm furious... that's not supernatural compul
SONYA'S POVPhoebe is passed out on my bed, surrounded by empty taco wrappers and her phone, when someone knocks on my door at two in the morning, dragging me out of sleep.I consider ignoring it. But the knock comes again, more insistent."Sonya." It's Reign's voice. "I need to talk to you. It's important.""Go away, Reign.""It's about Vanessa. About Elara's death." There's a pause. "Please."Damn it.I swing my legs off the bed, cross the room, and unlock the door, opening it just enough to glare at him. “What?”Reign looks rough. His hair is disheveled like he's been running his hands through it, his shirt is untucked, and his eyes are bloodshot. But there's also something else there, determination mixed with barely controlled rage."Can I come in?"“My best friend's sleeping.""Then come to my office. Five minutes. That's all I'm asking."Goddess.I can't believe I'm considering this.Against my better judgment, I step out of my room, easing the door shut behind me before followi
VANESSA'S POVI scream immediately, scrambling away from Hector as wood splinters across the room. Just then, a man steps through the wreckage, tall and dark-haired, with eyes that radiate violence.Everything about him screams danger.Oh goddess.Shit.It's Zane Rivers. What the hell is he doing here?!Oh fuck. Oh fuck oh fuck oh fuck."Well, well," Zane says, his voice smooth as silk and twice as deadly. "Looks like I interrupted something.""Who the fuck are you?" Hector demands, already shifting partially, his claws extending. My heart is pounding so hard I think it might burst out of my chest. "Zane, what are you doing here? We had a deal…""A deal you just violated, Vanessa." He steps further into the room, and I notice the gun in his hand. Casual, like it's just another accessory. "You were supposed to plant the seed of doubt and walk away. Instead, you made a whole fucking scene.""I did what you asked!" I'm fumbling for my clothes now, desperate to cover myself. "I broke th
