I was rather looking down than up…

I sighed in relief. An old lady covered in orange from head to toe had stepped into the room, raising an eyebrow at me. She was neat but equally untidy when it came to her hair. Her grey eyebrows were bushy and so was her short hair.

I was not ready to face my mate after just discovering that he was Adrian Storm. The Adrian Storm. I don’t think I can ever recover from that.

“Were you expecting someone, ma’am?”

The she-wolf wasn’t lucky with height—she was almost a dwarf—and she wore a matching orange cloche hat with a carrot-colored ribbon tied around it. Her chocolate brown eyes appeared to be smiling and her greying hair was as short as her.

She wouldn’t look very fat if she had some more height and there was a weird-looking bracelet in her hands. I had seen it before but couldn’t recollect where or what it was.

“I’m just eighteen. I’m not a ma’am.”

“Sassy, aren’t you?”

She opened the door wider as if gesturing for me to come out and follow
