“He’s a liar! He’s a fucking liar!”

I was pacing around my room-made-prison, punching my fist into my innocent palm. “How dare he say that about them. Mom would never do that to me. The same thing happened to her and she would want better for me. Wouldn’t she?”

I stopped and crashed on the bed, landing hard on its soft coziness. “But what if she hates me? What if she wants me to suffer as she did? No, I think they sold me.”

I leaped back on my feet, pacing again. “That doesn’t sound right. We’re the richest pack in the territories. Mom wouldn’t sell me off for a few thousand. They’ll come for me. They surely will.”

I dropped back on the edge of the bed, wallowing in my thoughts. “What if they don’t?” I looked down at my naked feet—needed a pedicure as well. “But what if they wanted to get rid of me and all he said was true?”
