Chapter Seven

MARCUS’ POV

I closed my phone and took a deep breath. About an hour ago I started feeling Raven’s arousal. She probably didn’t know what she was doing but I felt her pulling at my wolf.

The other Alpha’s had been in the middle of reporting to me their encounters with the plague killing off their ranks and the local human communities when it hit me.

I thought I wasn’t going to make it. When the arousal was replaced with terror, I ended the meeting and called her.

I figured she would refuse to invite me over, so I didn’t bother asking. Hearing her voice over the phone did little to calm the beast inside.

I didn’t know much about how the mate bond would affect a human but our bond was new and still fragile, and emotions could easily be overwhelming. My wolf wasn’t going to rest until we made sure there was no threat to her. I needed to get to her and see for myself what was causing her distress.

My mind, however, kept wandering to Dustin. I knew he still had feelings for Raven, but
