Chapter Twenty Three
Raven's POV
Everything hurt. My body ached. My eyes felt glued shut. The beeping that was close by was driving me crazy.
I moaned when I shifted my body and pain spiked down my spine. "Marcus!" I heard a woman scream.
"Marcus she is awake." The same voice screamed again. I forced my eyes open to find out who was screaming. It was making my ears ring.
I was in a small hospital room the lights were dimmed and for that I was thankful. I still couldn't move my body, so I just laid still trying to adjust.
If the Goddess could bring me back to life the least, she could have done was take this damn pain away. I know it's a selfish thought but fuck this hurt.

Dustin and I exited the truck. I was furious. My gun aimed at Mr. Swagger’s head. “Freddy, I need an explanation like now.” I demanded my eyes never leave the smug looking wolf. “Do you know who I am?” he asked us he jumped out of the back of the truck. I felt him getting closer and closer. I wasn’t about to let my guard down this time. “Why would I care who you are? You will be dead shortly. Marcus’ POV Two days now I have been planning our next move. Finding my mate was never part of those plans. Almost losing her on the same night was not in the plan. Tina looked at me with concern etched on her face. “Of course, Raven. You know you can always trust me. What’s going on?” “How well do you know Dustin and Freddy?” “Well Freddy and I grew up with Dustin.” “Wait you mean Dustin and Freddy aren’t brothers?” “Well not biologically. Storming out of the room and I stomped my way down the hall to my own quarters slamming the door to my room shut behind me. I am still trembling with rage. I lock my door before throwing myself down onto my bed. Tears well up making my eyes feel puffy and tender as the day’s events play over in my mind. The tension in the air is almost palpable, and it is making my skin crawl. After a few minutes, I began to feel calmer. Eventually I find myself breathing normally again. As the adrenaline fades from my body, my mind wanders onto other topics. More specifically towards the thoughts of Marcus and Dustin. My skin tingles but I push the feeling away and let myself drift off to sleep. I am naked and alone. I have never been one that has ever felt comfortable enough to sleep in the nude. MARCUS’ POV I closed my phone and took a deep breath. About an hour ago I started feeling Raven’s arousal. She probably didn’t know what she was doing but I felt her pulling at my wolf. The other Alpha’s had been in the middle of reporting to me their encounters with the plague killing off their ranks and the local human communities when it hit me. I thought I wasn’t going to make it. When the arousal was replaced with terror, I ended the meeting and called her. I figured she would refuse to invite me over, so I didn’t bother asking. Hearing her voice over the phone did little to calm the beast inside. I didn’t know much about how the mate bond would affect a human but our bond was new and still fragile, and emotions could easily be overwhelming.
