THE DEATH OF BRUNO

DAWN’S POV

I was seated in the throne room, watching as the elders and gammas of my pack whispered among themselves, unable to believe that their alpha was dead. I assured them that he was dead, but they demanded to see his body.

"I want to see his body! How can we believe he is dead without seeing his body?" one of the gammas said, with a tinge of desperation in his voice.

"You don't need to see his body. Trust me, he's dead," I replied with a cold tone, trying to hide my smile.

"But we have to see it. Please let us see it," another gamma pleaded.

I had already anticipated their doubts, so I had hired warriors to kill him and throw him off a cliff so they couldn't find his body. But I was prepared. I got up from my seat and clapped my hands. Two warriors walked in, carrying Bruno's casket. The gammas gasped as they placed the casket in the middle of the room and opened it for them to see. But I asked them not to touch it because it was a fake body I had made.

The gammas lamented, some of them fought back tears in their eyes because of the death of their beloved Alpha. As they were observing a silent moment for him, I broke it.

"I will be taking over as the new Alpha, effective immediately. You are all to bow down to me and respect me as your new leader," I said with a firm voice and a satisfied smile.

“You guys don’t need to appoint someone that does not have an Alpha’s blood to rule, because I can rule in my husband’s place.” I touched my stomach, informing them that I was pregnant with his child, and that I would hand over the seat to his child when he comes of age, assuming the child in my stomach would be a boy.

"You all know I have been Bruno's right hand for a long time now. He trusted me more than anyone. And now, with his unborn child inside me, I am the rightful heir to this throne," I continued, trying to sound sincere.

“You all should go and get ready, because in the evening I would be hosting a farewell party for him, and you could also appoint me as the new Alpha there.”

One of them wanted to talk about how cruel I was for wanting to turn my husband's funeral into a coronation, but Hugo stood beside them and flashed them his sword with a fearless look on his face that scared them all. They all bowed with respect and left the throne room.

I sat back down in Bruno's seat, feeling comfortable now that it was mine. I couldn't help but smirk at how easily I had taken it. Bruno had always been weak, and he had no idea that I had been planning this for months. I had no remorse for killing him, he had always been in my way. Now, with my unborn child and my mate by my side, I was unstoppable. The pack would fear me, and they would bow to me. I was their new alpha, and I would make sure they knew it.

As I walked into the living room, I could feel the eyes of every pack member on me. It was as if they expected me to be a grieving widow, but little did they know that Bruno's death had opened up new possibilities for me. I was treated like a queen by all the pack members, but I could see the suspicion in their eyes, wondering why I wasn't mourning my mate. I didn't care, I was having fun and I wasn't going to let their judgment ruin my night.

"Good evening, everyone," I greeted them, my tone icy and formal. "I hope you're enjoying yourselves."

Some of them nodded in response, but most of them just stared at me, unsure of what to say.

"Where's Bruno?" One of the pack members finally asked, breaking the silence that had settled over the room.

I smiled at him, the smile not reaching my eyes. "He's dead," I said simply, watching as the shock and confusion registered on their faces. "And I'm the new alpha."

"What?" Another pack member exclaimed, his voice rising in disbelief. "You can't be serious!"

"But I am," I replied, my voice cold and hard. "And anyone who has a problem with that can leave now."

There was a moment of hesitation, but then one of the pack members stood up, his face twisted in anger. "This is ridiculous!" He spat, his voice echoing through the room. "You're just a gold digger! You don't deserve to be our alpha!"

I raised an eyebrow at him, my expression turning icy. "Is that so?" I asked him, my voice dripping with sarcasm. "Well then, I suggest you leave now before I have you thrown out."

He hesitated for a moment, but then turned and stormed out of the party, slamming the door behind him.

I turned to face the rest of the pack members, my expression still hard. "Anyone else?" I asked them, my voice daring them to challenge me.

No one spoke up, and I could see the fear and uncertainty in their eyes. I smiled at them, knowing that I had won. "Good," I said, my voice softening slightly. "Now let's celebrate."

I moved towards the middle of the room, where a makeshift dance floor had been set up. I could feel the eyes of the pack members on me as I began to dance shamelessly with Rex, but I didn't care. I was the new alpha, and nothing was going to bring me down.

As the night wore on, I could see the looks of suspicion and fear on the faces of the pack members, but I ignored them. I was in control now, and nothing was going to stop me.

As the party began to wind down, one of the guards came rushing towards me, a look of panic on his face. "Alpha," he said breathlessly. "Adora has escaped from the dungeon."

"What?" I exclaimed, my heart racing. "How is that possible?"

"I don't know," he replied, his voice shaking. "But we need to find her before she causes any trouble."

I turned to Hugo, my second-in-command for now. "Go find her," I ordered him, my voice firm. "And make sure she doesn't come back."

Hugo nodded, his expression serious. "As you wish, Alpha," he said, before turning and rushing out of the party.

I watched him go, my heart pounding in my chest. Adora was a threat, and I needed to make sure she didn't cause any problems. But I was confident that Hugo could handle it. After all, he was loyal to me, and he would do whatever it took to protect me and the pack.
