VICTORIA’S POV
“Is she going to be okay,” a voice called out from above me. I tried pulling myself up to my feet, but I couldn't. Even in my state of near unconsciousness, I scoffed seeing that he was here. Stefan!… “She will be okay in no time,” another voice responded. “Thank goodness,” Stefan muttered. My stomach tightened at the thought of his words from earlier, knowing that he didn't care. The carefree tone of his voice made that obvious. “I’m certain that when she wakes up fully, her temperature will be considerably low,” another voice echoed a response. A pain shot through my chest at the thought of Stefan’s words from earlier. Making a lot of questions swirl through my mind. The questions made me hurt so bad that I felt a migraine come back. This time, my head felt like it was being crushed with the weight of a thousand boulders and I couldn't hold it in any longer. A low gasp left my mouth, and immediately I felt someone rush into the room. Surprisingly, Stefan hovered over me protectively and I shivered inwardly at the size of him. His looming figure towered above me as I lay in bed. “Take this, the doctor said you will be better in no time if you do!” Stefan said and just when he did be backed away with both hands stuffed into his pants. I cleared my throat and shot him a glare with my arms folded against my chest. “If you’ve got something to say, say it!” He growled. “You can cut the act now, no one’s watching!” I snapped, knowing he never meant his actions. “Is that all?” Stefan surprisingly asked. I looked back at him and frowned. Hating the fact that he was talking to me like we were business partners, so formally. “One more thing, just because you have me here doesn't mean it's where I want to be all my life—-” I summoned up courage and continued. He raised a brow and then asked. “Where would you rather want to be?” “College!” I shot at him, without a second thought. “Done!” He responded, and in seconds he turned to leave. Not a single light illuminated his way as he walked out so easily into the darkness. “It wasn't so hard, was it Tory?” I muttered to myself as I closed my eyes. As expected, the pills I was given a couple of minutes ago kicked in and in seconds I drifted into deep sleep. ******************** I pulled the robe off myself, my eyes trailing off to my stuff which had been sent a couple of days ago even before my arrival here. My clothes, shoes, old photographs, all of them came packed neatly in boxes. I took a good look at the bedroom I was in, noticing that it had more designs than usual and for some reason, it had more frames hanging on both sides of the room wall. In a couple of minutes I walked up to the balcony that was attached to my bedroom, taking in the fresh morning air. The sound of tyres made me jolt and I looked down to find Stefan’s car racing through the gates. “Wait, he’d been out all night?” I thought to myself as I watched him emerge from his car and head into the mansion. The next minute, I caught sight of another figure. This time the person who hopped out of the car was wearing heels. Almost instantly, my heart stopped. My first thought? He’d brought home his mistress, making it quite obvious that he had never wanted me in the first place. ‘That bastard!’ I muttered, headed for the stairs. He was probably sprawled in bed with her, or probably— the sound of something shattering echoed from down the hallway. Wondering what it was that had happened. The sounds continued, loud sounds of things being thrown on the ground, of objects being violently broken. I hurried in the direction of the sound, and just when I got up to where the sound came from I realized what it was. Lamps were broken, vases shattered, paintings strewn across the floor and books ripped apart, littering the whole place. In the middle of it all, stood Stefan looking absolutely murderous, and when his eyes found me, his rage, if possible, increased tenfold. I took a few steps back, feeling a bit terrified. For some damn reason, he looked so angry, so furious that it sent a chill down my spine. In seconds, I began to walk away from him. Retreating carefully, so as not to attract attention but I wasn't careful enough. Stefan caught up with me, he had his hand raised to my face and I flinched away. Closing my eyes with a whimper, however, he didn’t hit me or break my neck as I had expected. Instead, his fingers traced my temple and down my cheek. My body froze at the gentle contact, unsure of how to react, I kept my eyes closed. I felt his fingers trace my lips, causing a jolt of electricity down my core. “Fucking beautiful,” He muttered under his breath, his eyes boring into mine. My eyes darted open in surprise, relief, and shock flooding my veins. His piercing blue eyes stayed hard when I looked at him, his lips in a firm line. Stefan was a rock, just as expressionless and cool. I tried wrenching free but then he grabbed my arm and pushed me against the wall. Just then, the door swung open revealing a red-haired lady, who apparently was wearing the same heels I saw a couple of hours ago. “It’s Gerald on the line, and he says he’s important news,” She said. At that moment, it all made sense. The red-haired girl was probably a secretary girl at the office. Why do I even care? I heard him inhale deeply before sighing, his hand falling from my face. “It better be important!” He growled and then stormed out without even a glance my way. Everything seemed muddled and confusing as I watched him leave, and I began worrying for my own sanity. “What was that about?”VICTORIA’S POV“Welcome Freshmen to the University of California, Berkeley!” The deep blue words were sprawled across the bright gold banner that hung on the dormitory entrance. My breath came slightly faster as we drove right past the gates of college.I took a deep stabilizing breath, then unbuckled my seatbelt as I hopped out of the car. I glanced over my shoulders and realized Stefan had ordered more men in black to have me taken down to college. Which I found somewhat annoying with the eyes of other college students straining directly on me on entry.I looked down at my fingers, staring at my damn ring. Without any contemplation, I flung it off my finger and had it tossed into my purse. The student’s dorm was all clustered, and at that moment, I realized it also had a gym, restaurants, and other buildings around. The elevator door dinged open and I followed the signs left down the hall towards my room. I found the door with the large silver 245 on it and slowly opened it. Looking
STEFAN’S POVI would have killed her right then and there, but as my father always yelled. “Timing is everything.” And with what seemed to be half of my father’s guard department outside, timing wasn’t on my side.“What on earth does he want this time?” I growled, raking a hand through my hair as I paced in my bedroom.“I’m afraid I don’t know myself,” Sophie, my secretary, responded.Frustratingly, I stormed out of my bedroom and headed for the garage. My eyes narrowed as a pair of familiar headlights turned a corner. I walked towards the all-back Cadillac before swinging the door open and sliding into the backseat. I slammed the door in frustration, causing the entire car to tremble. The guards seated across from me, stared at me with fear in their eyes as the ignition started. As we continued, their eyes met mine before their gaze began drifting down to my neck.“What?” I grimaced. My voice came across as colder than intended. They quickly turned their attention towards the road,

VICTORIA’S POVThe vows were said, the lies concealed as I took Stefan Zoric to be my husband. My actions were forced, and the tone obviously robotic made it worse in my head. I had always dreamt of the day I would curl in the arms of my lover, but I guess those dreams hadn't been dreams, to begin with; they had been signs of the nightmare to come. PRESENT DAYI sat in the passenger seat of Stefan’s black Lamborghini with my nervous fingertips tapping my knee. I leaned my head against the car window, pressing my forehead against the cool glass to provide a reprieve to my sudden burning forehead.A lot swirled through my mind at that moment, and the one thing I wanted more than anything else was for someone to wake me up.Any moment from now, Grace would come yelling for me in my room, shaking me so that I would wake up and we could head out to the mall for our first girl’s outing as we had planned. Unfortunately, it didn't happen. Instead, she moved to Chicago a couple of months lat
VICTORIA’S POVEvery tick of the clock pounded in rhythm with my heart as I stared into my reflection in the mirror of one of my father's penthouse suites. Brushing through each strand of hair, ignoring the loud cheers that came from the guests downstairs.I managed a small smile at my reflection, staring plainly at the lady in the mirror. Her makeup was fair and soft, bringing out the light in her cheeks. Her blonde curls were braided at the side and tied neatly into a loose bun. With a smile creased on my face, I backed away for a bit with my eyes glued to my dress. Knowing my father had spent a fortune getting me the best outfit for my eighteenth birthday. It was beautiful, I must admit. It had several layers of tulle before a layer of satin that covered it. And staring into the mirror, I slowly realized that I was no longer the Seven-year-old girl who’d cry herself to sleep. Now, I was forced to grow up and become the woman everyone had expected me to be.In a couple of hours, I’
