Seraphina's POV

"Seraphina?"

I heard a voice before I opened my eyes.

"Hey... you awake?"

My eyes blinked open slowly.

Everything was too bright. The ceiling was white. The lights filled the whole room. Then someone came into sight.

"Marcus...?" I whispered.

He leaned close, a big smile on his face. "Oh thank God. You scared me half to death!" He hugged me tight...very tight.

"Ow...Marcus! I'm still alive, not a teddy bear."

He laughed and pulled back, looking like he wanted to cry and smile at the same time. "You had me so worried, Sera. You don't know the kind of things that have crossed my mind today... "

"You're a drama queen and worry too much." I blinked, looking round. "Where...am I?"

"You're at the hospital. I brought you here."

I looked around again...then realization hit me. "What happened?"

He scratched the back of his neck and sat beside me. "Okay, uhm I didn't want to be the person to tell you and you might not believe me if I said it but... you kind of lost it."

"Lost it? Lost it how?"

He looked at me carefully. "Don't you remember anything?"

I shook my head, impatiently wanting him to explain once and for all. He groaned. "Oh boy...This is gonna be weird to explain."

I narrowed my eyes. "Marcus... what did I do? Just say it...it can't be that bad."

He smirked, but not the funny kind. The "you messed up" kind. "Not that bad?...You were... let's just say, not yourself. You were acting... extremely, uh... needy. Like, way too friendly with a certain someone."

"What? I don't understand what you mean." I tried sitting up.

"Uhm...ok...uhm....well...you were craving and begging for se........."

My eyes widened. "No. No no no. Don't say it."

He grinned and held his hands up. "You begged him to sleep with you."

"Shut up!"

"You said 'please' like... five times....In a row....I counted."

I covered my face. "Noooo. Marcus stop."

"Yep... You were struggling and fighting me just so you could be with Lucien."

"Marcus! Stop talking!"

He laughed. "You asked him to..."

"Don't say it!" I gave him a death glare.

"You almost stripped!"

I grabbed a pillow and hit him with it. He let it happen, still laughing.

"I hate you," I muttered into the pillow.

"I know you love me."

I peeked at him. "Seriously... I don't remember...I just remember... heat. I was hot....Like fire under my skin."

He grew quiet. "Yeah... that's what scared me. You weren't drugged or anything. I checked. But I think... I think it's something else. I think Lucien did something to you... Like some weird wolf mind trick. You were out of control, Sera. I had to drag you out."

I sat up properly, still weak. "So I just... turned into a desperate perv?"

He frowned. "Don't say that. You weren't yourself. That's what's scary."

I screamed into a pillow, embarrassed. "I can't believe you saw me in that state." My face was going red.

"Who else would you prefer to see you in that state?"

I chewed on my lip. "Marcus... Do you think he really did something me? Like... used magic or mind control?"

He sighed. "I don't know about that...but I hate how you acted around him. It wasn't normal. It looked like you were under some kind of spell. And if those wolves can control humans like that... we need to get far away."

I stared at my blanket. What was he trying to say?

"I'm serious, Sera," he said. "We need to drop this case....All of it...and walk away."

"But..."

"No buts, Sera" he snapped. "I've seen you flirt...with a hot werewolf...I've seen you beg to have sex with him...But that? That was not you...That was you being controlled."

I looked down. He reached over, gently holding my hand. "I want you safe... Please."

I nodded slowly. Then the lights suddenly went out. The machines stopped beeping. The hallway went silent.

"Marcus?" I whispered. He stood quickly and looked at the door. "Probably just a power cut..."

Creeaaak...That was the door.

My heart started beating fast....Something moved....I could hear it....It was a shuffle then slow steps. One after the other.

"Who's there?" Marcus called out. There was no reply. We heard only breathing.

"Mmm... there you are... little flower."

We both froze. I reached out trying to see if my hands could find Marcus quickly.

"Get out...no one invited you here."

The voice laughed softly, like it was enjoying a joke only it could hear.

"You invited me...your scent invited me...it smells absolutely divine."

Marcus stepped in front of me, and brushed my hands so I quickly held onto him. "Don't come closer!"

The man stepped into the light from the window. He was tall and handsome. Are all werewolves handsome?

His eyes were too yellow... His nose twitched sniffing the air like a dog.

"Oh yes," he said. "Your scent's calling me. I don't want to force you little flower. Just come to me... nicely."

He took a step closer. Marcus pulled something from his jacket; pepper spray maybe, or a pocket knife. "I swear, back off."

The man didn't blink. "Humans should learn to stop playing hero and know when to run."

He lunged towards us. Marcus pushed me down behind the bed. "Stay down, Sera!"

I screamed. Marcus left my hand. I heard sounds, crashing, growls, furniture breaking.....next I heard was Marcus gasping for air. He was trying to strangulate him.

"Marcus!" I screamed. "Let him go."

"If you want him to live, be a good little girl and come with me."

"Please let go of him first...he can't breathe." I pleaded.

He just laughed.

"If he dies, I wont cooperate in anyway." I said. He paused, I heard Marcus breathing in and out, coughing. Next thing I heard was marcus scream and a sound that something hit the wall hard.

"Marcus! MARCUS! What did you do?" I screamed, trying to come down and walk.

"He isn't dead. Though he will have major injuries." He growled. "Now, where were we?"

I started crying. "Marcus! Please answer me." I heard no reply.

I tried to walk but my legs gave out. The werewolf caught me before I reached the floor. "Oh! be careful...you're too precious to get hurt..."

I was weak and helpless and I hated it so much. Tears rolled down my eyes as I looked into his lustful eyes and saw him smile at me. Then I passed out again.

She was he only warrior with that talent hence why she is among the top five best warriors. But it had a mix of fear, sweat, heat and blood.“She was here,” Ayla growled. “Not too long ago.”We stopped outside the emergency treatment room as the door opened slowly. I sighted her detective cop mate Marcus laying unconscious on a bed. He was bandaged and pale, but he was alive.“Sh*t,” I whispered, stepping closer. The machines beeped quietly. A nurse tried to stop us, but I held up a fake badge. Our faces had black face masks over our nose and mouth so people couldn't easily notice our true identities.“Check the cameras,” I ordered Orion. He was already at the wall console. He ha

POV: Lucien Kael “Get away from her! Did you get her drunk or high on something, just to take advantage of her?” He stormed in and shoved me hard, but I didn’t budge.“You don’t have any idea what's happening...be careful what you say to me...,” I said quietly, holding back a growl.“She’s human!” he shouted. “She’s not one of you...she's not yours....to do as you please!”“She’s not yours either...besides you're extremely lucky as a human...humans who know about us don't live to see the next day.”He didn't look scared. We stared each other down like animals ready to bite. I couldn't kill him cause he was the only who could get her away from me. And she would overreact if she finds out we killed him. "She's fine there is nothing wrong with her...she's just very horny." I added. His eyes went wide open. "What? Seraphina is never like that...you must have done something to her." He quickly reached for her again. "Hey! Sera....Sera."She was restless and coiled up. But then she reach

She was getting warm again...too warm...Actually she was burning and her scent had changed. It became more intense, sweeter, and intoxicating. She was slipping into heat again....because of being close to me. This was not good...not here. I quickly looked round and I knew the wolves present had sniffed her already. She even caught the attention of the elder hosting the party. She looked like he had just sniffed heaven. She didn’t say anything, she just let out a shaky breath as her fingers curled slightly into my chest, and she couldn't look up at me. But her ex...the idiot...was still staring at us from across the ballroom.I turned, still holding Seraphina close. “Come on, cutie... I said louder, for him to hear. “Let’s dance.”We danced slowly to the music, drawing attention. People wondering wich lucky lady was in my arms so affectionately. But I didn’t care. In fa

“So this is our target?” I whispered to Marcus as we stood at the edge of the ballroom, pretending to admire the chandelier.Marcus nodded, sipping from a glass of champagne he hadn’t touched. “Big icon...Old money...Name’s not on anything directly, but controls everything behind the scenes.”I scanned the crowd to find him. I noticed that he was wearing fancy clothes and also wearing smiles with people flocking around to have the privilege to greet him.“He looks like royalty,” I muttered. "Royalty with a lot of skeletons in the cupboard..."Marcus flinched towards my direction. “Don’t say that too loud...someone might actually be one.”"But I'm not lying, I'm just stating facts." I rolled my eyes."Yes true...facts that could get us killed or worse turned into dead bodies that can heal."We both chuckled then after five minutes we split up. Marcus took the east wing; I moved toward the main lounge where more deals were happening than drinks. I scanned the area and my eyes met Damian

“You disappeared for two whole days, Vale. What kind of excuse do you have for that?” Captain Moore’s yelled across the briefing room.I stood stiff, clenching my hands. My mouth was dry, and the taste of suppressant pills still coated my tongue. “I have an explanation,” I said carefully. “But you might not believe it.”The rest of my team looked at me; some curious, some annoyed. Marcus just looked worried.“You know the claw mark murder case...I went undercover to follow a lead to find out who the rogue killer is,” I said. “But it turned out that he was not just a man. He was something else. He was...” I paused. Everyone leaned in anticipation. “He was a werewolf.”“You’re telling me a what killed the man?” my supervisor asked, frowning like I’d just spoken in alien language.“A werewolf,” I repeated. At first everyone was quiet. There was total silence in the room. Then, snorts and laughter came in after.“Seriously?” one officer muttered. “You drunk again, Vale?”My boss leaned
