Chapter 3

Mirabel dropped her number and email address with the Chauffeur when he dropped her off just as she was ordered to, and as she had promised.

She would pay back when next they cross paths.

She walked into her apartment, immediately she entered, she went into her room and jumped on the bed.

She lay on her bed and memories of every single thing that happened came flooding in. No matter how hard she tried, she still couldn't pinpoint the reason Steve broke up with her.

A tear dropped from her eyes as she cherished the times she spent with him, either way, nothing could be done anymore, he asked for it and she was going to make him regret leaving her.

Mirabel stood up from her bed and walked to the bathroom, but then she suddenly realized something which made her stop in her steps.

How could she not have realized earlier, these weren't her clothes!!

She was wearing pajamas that were not hers, how could she not have realized earlier?

Mirabel used her hands to slap her head slightly, 'damn you'

She cleared up her thoughts, went into the bathroom, and had her shower before coming out. Mirabel went out of the room and wandered to the kitchen to cook something to eat.

After eating, she sat down in the sitting room, today was weekend so she had nothing to do.

"Boring weekends," Mirabel said out loud and sighed. She lived alone cause she had no family members.

She was the only child of her parents who had died in accident years back.

She went inside and took her phone before she lay back on the bed.

She made a call to someone, and after three rings the call was picked up.

"Come over, I'm bored," Mirabel said in a pleading tone

"Hehe... I knew you would call 'cause you miss me" the person on the other end of the call said.

"I'm bored that's why I called," Mirabel said trying to prove the person wrong.

"Ouch. It hurts" the person said and gave a small laugh.

"OK then.. I'll be on my way," the person said and cut the call.

Mirabel's phone suddenly beeped, she received a message on her phone, so she opened her email to check.

"What?!" She shouted and her eyes widened seeing the digit, it was the agreement for her to pay the next time they meet.

"5000 USD just for picking me up from the rain? Where am I going to get such an amount from, I'm sure he has way more than that" she kept on blabbering to herself.

"Oh, Lord... Please save me" Mirabel said, she didn't know where she would get such a huge amount of money from, she honestly hoped she never crosses paths with him again.

Thinking back at how he looked at her made her shiver in fear, but come to think of it, he was indeed handsome.

She remembered every detail vividly, even though she didn't look at him a lot of times, his face and pure handsomeness was something to never forget.

He had an even sprinkling of grey and dark hair, and his eyebrows were a little bit bristly when he trapped her between his hands, his cologne wafted into her nose and it felt...

"Ahh. Why am I suddenly giving such descriptions to him" Mirabel said to herself. She shrugged off all thoughts about him, all she needed to do now is find a way to get him his money.

About a few hours later, her doorbell rang, and someone was outside. Mirabel jumped out of the bed and immediately ran out of her room towards the door.

When she opened the door, behold a beautiful and sexy young lady stood outside, she had blonde curly hair locks and was dressed in a maroon-colored gown, It was just the person she was expecting and waiting for.

"Ara.." Mirabel shouted and jumped on the person for a hug, the young lady hugged her back, and they stayed like that for a while before Mirabel released her.

I wasn't expecting this type of welcome now tell me, what the h*ll have you done?" Arabella said when Mirabel released her from the hug

Arabella was Mirabel's friend from childhood, she was always there right from crèche, their bond was too strong, they supported each other and served as a shoulder to cry on for one another.

"Oh... There's nothing, really" Mirabel said with a smile

Arabella squinted her eyes when she heard Mirabel's response. She knew something was wrong, "Okay then," Arabella said and walked into the house, besides she knew Mirabel would tell her when she was ready, so she didn't probe further

" I'm hungry, what's cooking? Arabella said and slumped on the couch, Mirabel shut the door close before walking to her.

"I ate a few hours ago, but we can make pancakes," she said did

Arabella glared at her "Do you think I'm up for pancakes, right now?" She said and stood up, walking towards the kitchen.

"Let's make something else, pancakes can't solve my hunger right now" Mirabel followed after her.

They ended up making mashed potatoes, and though Mirabel said she ate already, she still ate again, yeah. She's a foodie.

"Do you know any easy means I can make money?" Mirabel suddenly said out of the blue. Arabella looked at her.

"Like how much?"

"I need like 5000 USD," Mirabel said.

Arabella's eyes rounded in surprise " What are you using such an amount for?" She asked, the money was so much, so what does she need it for, she knew something was fishy the moment she walked into the house.

Mirabel who was glancing at Arabella for a while now moved her gaze to the wall, she had to relay everything to Arabella, so she recalled the incidents again. She stayed like that for a while not saying anything

Arabella didn't say anything, she knew she might have a lot on her mind.

"Steve broke up with me" Mirabel finally broke the silence.

"When? What happened? Calm down and tell me everything" Arabella said, she could only imagine how Mirabel felt.

"Thursday night... He called and asked for a breakup, but he didn't tell me why" The jolly mood a few hours ago changed drastically. Tears rolled down Mirabel's eyes as she told Arabella the whole incident.

"It's okay," Arabella said and hugged Mirabel for comfort, she knew how much Mirabel loved Steve.

"I'm okay," Mirabel said with a smile, you could imagine how hurt she was, the smile wasn't genuine.

She calmed down for a moment before she continued "Now about the money" Mirabel finally said, the sad look in her eyes wasn't there again. She was okay.

"What do you need 5000 USD for?" Arabella asked, she didn't feel alright at all, she was imagining all the possible things Mirabel could need such an amount for.

Mirabel looked at their worried face Arabella before she started talking.
