Chapter 24: Party

As soon as Lyra stepped out of the car, the air around her felt heavy. She could hear nothing as she walked side by side with her man. She knew that everyone knew who she was; all the familiar faces almost brought up a past trauma that she tried so hard to forget. Derrick decided to hold her by the waist instead of having her grab his arm because her hand was trembling too much.

The people had their eyes glued to her. Who wouldn't? Every step she took literally lit up the entire room. Her relationship with Derrick, another gorgeous being, was perfect. The couple looked phenomenal. The power they hold is too much, and her coat is still hers. She felt cool. For once, she could feel that they gave her respect and that they were the ones who feared her.

"They're all looking at us," Lyra whispered. "I don't like this."

"Tell me about it," Derrick hissed. "I already want to make five people suffer."
