Tommaso raised an eyebrow slightly “but you see strangely enough…”

A faint smile crossed Mr Giovanni’s face as he remembers the change on his son's face whenever he sees Azzura “he remembers your daughter”

Tommaso blinked slowly.

“Azzura?”

“Yes Tom” Mr Giovanni replied as he turned fully towards Mr Tommaso again.

“The boy saw her years ago during the Verona gathering, do you remember?” Mr Giovanni asked as Mr Tommaso suddenly remembered the event clearly “ohh yes I do”

“Azzura had been very much younger then I think 10 or 11 years old then…she was still the stubborn and playful child as usual” Mr Tommaso said with a smile on his face.

“Yes you are right Tom, during the event she had accidentally spilled wine on Francesco’s black suit that evening and everyone had expected him to explode in anger at her…but surprisingly Francesco merely stared at her silently while she argued fearlessly with him hahahaha” Mr Giovanni said as both he and Mr Tommaso laughed as they remembered the matter.

“And after that for the rest of the evening his eyes kept following her across the ballroom” Mr Giovanni said once more after holding himself for a while from laughing too much.

Mr Tommaso had never thought deeply about the matter but now that his friend spoke about it, the memory felt different.

“He spoke about her afterward” Giovanni admitted calmly “even though he didn't show it or speaking about the matter steadily but I know my son”

Mr Tommaso looked genuinely surprised now “that boy barely speaks at all you know right?”

“Exactly and it is the more reason I myself was surprised” Mr Giovanni said as a brief silence followed immediately

Then Giovanni smiled darkly “and from what I know, when Francesco speaks about someone… he never forgets them, never”

The statement carried strange intensity beneath it causing Mr Tommaso to clear his throat lightly before forcing a smile.

“Well children can be unpredictable after all, what do you think ?” Mr Tommaso said as Mr Giovanni nodded.

“Yes you are right old friend” but inwardly he already knew this marriage was beyond simple interest for Francesco.

His son had chosen Azzura long ago, long before anyone realized it and once an Ndrangheta man desired something deeply he never let it go….never.

“It’s alright I will keep my family informed about this and I should inform you on the update on how it goes my good friend, and yes thank you for the hospitality I am really grateful to you old friend” Mr Tommaso said.

Mr Giovanni smiled before extending his hand firmly toward him “the pleasure is mine Tom”

The two men shook hands slowly “I should get going now” Mr Tommaso said after merrying with Mr Giovanni for a while.

He grabbed his coat in preparation to leave immediately as Mr Giovanni walked his friend out personally toward the massive doors of the mansion.

Outside the rain had finally stopped and the cold night breeze swept through the estate while luxury black vehicles waited patiently before the grand staircase.

“Alright old friend will be expecting your feedback, your feet and fleet are ever welcome in the Ndrangheta clan always and forever” Mr Giovanni said as he crossed his right hand over his chest.

“Thank you my friend” Mr Tommaso said as he enters his vehicle and took his leave out of the estate.

THE PRESENT

“True words you said there my lovely wife and truth be told I do remember that special moment I had to go through hell just to prove loyalty to an old time friend who is now the Lord of the Ndranghetas, ohh what a time to relish on the past” Mr. Tommaso said drifting back to reality as he finished reminiscing on his time with Mr Giovanni, he held Mrs. Gaia in his embrace.

The room remained quiet except for the faint crackling sound coming from the fireplace by the far end of the room. Outside, the rain had finally reduced into soft droplets sliding slowly against the tall glass windows of the Sil mansion.

Mr Tommaso’s face softened slightly as he looked down at Mrs Gaia “I am so grateful to have you as my wife” he said to himself.

For years Mrs Gaia had remained his peace and the one person capable of calming the storm hidden inside him.

“I am glad that you, my husband the strong lion who has conquered so many trials now have a clear sight on what I am hinting at exactly” Mrs. Gaia said with a sly smile on her lips.

“So what then do you think should be done now my love…. will you let your only daughter go or you send out the invite for the Ndranghetas to come pay you a nice visit?” Mrs. Gaia said after a long pause.

Mr Tommaso exhaled heavily “the truth was painful, that no matter how powerful he had become over the years there were still people above him and the Ndranghetas stood at the very top.

"And as for you, Tommaso..." The masked voice spoke again, its tone carrying an unsettling mixture of irritation and reluctant admiration."You played dirty this time."For several long moments, the room remained completely silent as the figure neither move nor shifted its posture. It simply stood there beneath the dim light, the grotesque wooden mask concealing every trace of emotion that might have crossed its face. Then, slowly, a quiet chuckle escaped."You did exceptionally well, i must commend you." The words sounded almost sincere from the outside but. "Even while lying on your deathbed you still managed to win….you carried every piece of intelligence you had gathered straight into death with you."The realization clearly frustrated the mysterious speaker. Months or perhaps years of careful planning had been directed toward obtaining whatever information Tommaso had protected so fiercely.Yet in the end, nothing had been recovered. "If not for your foolish friend arriving now a

Meanwhile, deep inside the inner part of the estate. "They are here." The words broke the heavy silence like a blade slicing through thick fog.The speaker was an unusually tall and powerfully built man whose appearance alone was enough to unsettle anyone who laid eyes upon him. A single narrow strand of hair ran down the middle of his otherwise shaven head, while another thin strand hung from his chin, giving him a strangely intimidating appearance. His chest, partially exposed beneath his dark attire, carried the same unusual feature, making his entire figure seem almost ritualistic. From his waist downward, he was dressed entirely in black, every piece of clothing blending perfectly with the darkness surrounding him. A dark mask concealed the upper portion of his face, allowing only his cold eyes to remain visible. Those eyes carried no warmth whatsoever.Across his broad back stretched an enormous dragon tattoo, the dragon's body twisted around his shoulders, extended across both

Every single word Mr. Giovanni spoke carried tremendous weight. None of his sentences were wasted, and none were spoken out of emotion alone. Every word reflected years of experience, authority, and unwavering resolve. His voice remained steady, yet beneath that calmness rested a force capable of changing the course of events within moments.Mr. Giovanni was not a man who yielded to intimidation because this was not a mission built around negotiation… this was not an attempt to bargain for safe passage or plead with those responsible.Mr. Giovanni had arrived with only one purpose—to reclaim what remained of his friend's dignity and ensure that Tommaso's legacy would not disappear beneath fear and silence.Whatever stood between him and that objective would have to be confronted, whatever the cost.Mr. Pietro understood immediately, his years spent serving beside the Don had taught him how to read even the smallest change in his commander's expression. He gave a firm nod, checked his

"I need to retrieve his body..."Mr. Giovanni's eyes remained fixed on the silent estate ahead of him. His thoughts had already crossed the gates long before his body ever would."...and after that..."His jaw slowly tightened."I will personally bring down every single bast—""SIR GIOVANNI!"The powerful voice shattered the silence inside the command vehicle, before Mr. Giovanni could finish his sentence, a firm hand landed gently on his shoulder. It was Mr. Pietro. The sudden interruption pulled Mr Giovanni back into reality like a man waking from a deep dream, for a brief moment, Mr. Giovanni blinked several times as though his mind was trying to reconnect with the world around him.Mr. Pietro immediately noticed the slight change in his boss's eyes, his own face carried an unusual mixture of surprise, concern, and confusion. He had served beside Mr. Giovanni long enough to understand that his boss occasionally disappeared into deep thought. But never like this, not during an opera

"I am here... Outside my best friend's estate." Mr. Giovanni's eyes remained fixed on the massive entrance gate before him, but his thoughts had already travelled far beyond the walls that stood in front of the convoy."...And before I can even enter through the gate, I receive a warning from an enemy." His expression stayed neutral "...An enemy who clearly knew I would come."The realization on that, slowly settled into his mind. "They knew I would come... yet they still made sure I arrived too late."For several long seconds, silence surrounded him, then unexpectedly...a smile slowly appeared on his face, this was the smile of a man whose mind had just begun assembling pieces of a dangerous puzzle. It was the smile of someone who understood that every action on a battlefield carried a hidden meaning.Mr Giovanni's fingers rested gently against the armrest inside the SUV while his sharp eyes continued observing the estate without blinking."Looking at everything before me now...I am

The moment the convoy drew close to the estate, every instinct honed through years of warfare told them that something was terribly wrong. The atmosphere itself carried an unsettling weight. There was no sound of birds. No movement from the surrounding trees. The eerie silence hanging over the estate was not the silence of peace—it was the silence that came after violence. The air was thick with the unmistakable scent of burnt gunpowder, mingled with the metallic smell of fresh blood. It drifted through the partially opened windows of the lead vehicles, reaching every soldier before anyone uttered a single word.It was enough, every experienced man in the convoy knew exactly what it meant, someone had fought here, someone had died here."EVERYONE TAKE COVER IMMEDIATELY!"The urgent command exploded through the communication channel, the voice belonged to one of the Ndrangheta soldiers stationed at the front of the convoy. There was no hesitation in his tone, only raw urgency born fro
