Reina’s POV

“Joshua,” I whispered, my voice like sandpaper.

He was in the kitchenette, pulling two mugs from the cabinet like we were just any couple settling in for a quiet night. But my feet wouldn’t move. My pulse was trapped in my throat, thudding wildly.

He looked up immediately. “What is it?”

“I—I saw something.” I gestured toward the window, backing away. “Outside. Just past the porch light. It moved.”

Joshua’s face shifted—his usual softness replaced with quiet alertness. He didn’t laugh it off. Didn’t call me crazy. Instead, he crossed the room in three long strides and peered out the window.

The glass was smudged, but clear enough. The porch bulb buzzed faintly, illuminating nothing but weeds and shifting shadows.

Still, he watched.

“I don’t see anything,” he murmured.

I didn’t breathe.

But then his shoulders squared. He looked a little too long. Like he was pretending to see nothing so I wouldn’t panic.

“Could’ve been a deer,” he said carefully, still staring. “Or a raccoon

  • The Devil's Nurse   A Broken Lesson

Reina’s POVDarkness ebbed and flowed like a tide behind my swollen eyes. Pain beat in my skull like a second heart. Every breath scraped raw against the inside of my chest. Blood slicked my back, my legs, the inside of my thighs. Footsteps.Heavy. Calculated. Fading. The door slammed.Silence again.A silence that screamed louder than the belt ever could.I didn’t cry.Not this time.I wasn’t sure how long I lay there—minutes, hours, maybe centuries—before sound returned. The pain had tunneled into something else—something quiet, seething, and angry. Beneath the agony, beneath the betrayal, was a spark that refused to go out.Cassian.His name pulsed like venom through my veins.Did he really serve me up to Elias like a lamb to slaughter? Or had Elias lied? Twisted the truth? There had to be something more. There had to be.But right now, none of that mattered. Because one truth cut deeper than any belt could:I was going to die in here unless I did something.Groaning, I pushed mys

  • The Devil's Nurse   He Used me as Bait?

Reina’s POVThe first thing that greeted me when I regained consciousness was the smell.Rot. Sweat. Dampness soaked into the very bones of the room. The air was thick, humid, and rancid, like it had never been filtered through sunlight. I gagged before I could stop myself, rolling onto my side on the cold, sticky floor.A sob echoed somewhere behind me.And another. My eyes shot open. Not mine.Other girls.I sat up so fast my head spun, and I nearly lost my balance. My arms instinctively wrapped around my body.Underwear.That’s all I had on.I shivered, my teeth chattering from more than the cold. The walls around me were stained with mold, cracked in places, and lined with rusted nails and rot. A single, dying bulb flickered overhead. It buzzed like it had a death wish.Whispers. Sobs. A choked breath. There were girls in every corner. Seven of them. Huddled. Hunched. Silent as shadows.I stumbled to my feet, arms tight around my chest, and staggered toward the door. My bare feet

  • The Devil's Nurse   The Key

CASSAIN’S POV“What message?”She looked up at me, and her voice cracked.“He said: Tell Cassian Morelli that the past always collects its debt. And this time, interest has matured.”My stomach turned to iron.“And then,” she added with a trembling breath, “he smiled. Said, ‘Tell him Jonah remembers too.’”Jonah.That must be the other brother. The room tilted slightly. My pulse thundered in my ears. I felt myself roll back, but I don’t remember pushing the chair.“Who is Jonah?” Lucas asked beside me, but I barely heard him.He was Elias’s shadow. His brother. Not his blood, but raised beside him like a reflection. The backup plan. The weapon in the dark.I turned back to the maid after gathering myself.“You’re sure that’s what he said?”She nodded, tears now dripping down her cheeks. “He made me memorize it. He said if I told you wrong, they’d mail me pieces of my sister.”I took a step closer, voice lower now, cutting through the panic in her chest. “Did he say anything else?”She

  • The Devil's Nurse   They Were Two

CASSIAN’S POV“It’s me,” I said, my voice low, already hating that I’d called. But the question burned hotter than my pride — a quiet itch under the skin I couldn’t ignore. I had to know.I closed my eyes and gritted my teeth the second I heard that voice slither through the speaker.“Well, brother Cassian,” Vasili drawled from the other end of the line, that same theatrical boredom in his voice he always used when he knew he had the upper hand. “I thought you said you were never calling again.”My fingers dug into the edge of the desk, rage tightening every muscle in my body. I wanted to throw the phone away. Wanted to let the fury burn through the line and choke him where he sat. But instead, I forced the words out—growled them past the pressure in my throat.“I need to know something. Something important.”A long pause. Then the faint rustling of fabric. Probably lounging somewhere, enjoying a drink, detached from the fire he lit and walked away from.“And what could an old man lik

  • The Devil's Nurse   A Mole in my Home

CASSIAN’S POVLucas’s words echoed through my skull like a bullet:“The signal shows that he’s inside the premises, sir.”The line had cut. Silence slammed into me like a physical blow.My grip on the phone tightened until the plastic creaked. I didn’t move. I let the silence linger—held the weight of it in my bones. Then something explosive erupted inside me. My chair screeched back as I knocked whatever my hand and feet could find all over the place. The wheels of my chair spinning uselessly as I lunged forward and grabbed Lucas by the collar, bending him to my level.“Say that again,” I growled, low and lethal.Lucas didn’t flinch, but the tremor in his jaw betrayed him. “The trace pinged from inside the mansion. East wing. Someone let him in.”Let him in.The words repeated like a war drum in my skull. Not snuck in. Not hacked.Let. Him. In.I shoved Lucas back and stormed toward the exit, ignoring the chaos behind me—the frantic voices, the scrabbling for radio contact, the sharp

  • The Devil's Nurse   Boo!

CASSIAN’S POVMy grip on the phone tightened, knuckles cracking. My breath slowed. A coldness prickled down my spine as the hairs on my neck stood.I knew that silence. Then—A low chuckle slithered through the receiver. Slow. Rotten. Mocking.Tsskk.“I thought you were smarter, Cassian,” the voice drawled, dark and amused. “But taking your nurse… it was easy. Pathetically easy.”My teeth clenched so hard I tasted blood. I didn’t speak. I didn’t breathe. I couldn’t give him the satisfaction of knowing how deep that voice sank into my bones—how badly I wanted to crush the device in my hand and tear through time to reach him.Elias.The boy with blood-soaked hands and a rotting heart. The rat who wore my daughter’s death like a badge. And now he dared to put his filthy hands on Reina?I swallowed the roar building in my chest. Forced my voice to stay calm—icy and sharp enough to kill.“So after all these years, I finally get to hear the coward’s voice,” I said, venom sliding off every s
