REINA’S POV

When I looked up, my eyes collided with a pair of piercing silver ones. Sharp. Too sharp. They locked onto mine like a target.

I tilted my head, blinking rapidly. “I’m so sorry—wasn’t looking where I was—” My words fumbled over each other as I knelt quickly, helping him pick up the scattered contents of his bag.

And then I froze.

A syringe.

A pen. A diary?

My heart did a funny, stuttering beat.

Wait. I know that face.

“It’s you!” I breathed, eyes widening in realization as I looked up at him. “You’re that barista! From the café.”

I remember him. He was the awkward one that spilled coffee on me when at the cafe the day we had that run-in with Vanessa.”

But his face wasn’t awkward now.

No nervous twitch. No stammer. No shy, dorky smile.

Just… stillness. Cold, stormy rage carved into stone.

I let out a shaky laugh, standing and brushing imaginary dust off my jeans. “Wow. Okay. Guess you’re not in the mood for old memories. Bad day?”

He took a step forward.

I instinctively ste

Reina’s POVI wheeled him toward the house. Not because I suddenly got a degree in Physical Therapy, but because I couldn’t trust my legs not to do something embarrassing—like collapse under me, or turn around and tackle him into the damn rose bushes.Cassian Morelli was calm. Too calm. His skin was sun-kissed in a way that made sin look angelic, and the curve of his mouth was still flirting with that unholy smirk. Meanwhile, I was still replaying every word I’d said like a highlight reel of my own downfall.“Two individual showers…” I mumbled again, under my breath. What the hell was that? And still, I hadn’t told him.About the man in the alley and his threats.About how close I’d come to not making it back to his stupid, stupid mansion and his stupid, stupid jawline.“Are you going to speak,” he said suddenly, “or just keep breathing like I held your head underwater?”I stopped pushing the wheelchair.Cassian tilted his head slightly, still not looking back. “Cat got your tongue?”

  • The Devil's Nurse   Do I Enjoy Being His Whore?

REINA’S POV“Miss, can you stop running now?”I stopped.Mid-breath. Mid-panic. Mid-heart attack. That voice. That voice. It wasn’t the monster in the shadows. It wasn’t Roman, or the barista, or even the ghost of my guilt. It was—Leon. The so-called bodyguard Cassian had assigned to protect me. Emphasis on the so-called, because where the hell had he been the last five minutes while I was nearly murdered in a sunlit alley? The sunlight finally cooperated, and I could see him clearly now as he came into focus—clean-cut, calm as ever, jaw sharp enough to crack bricks. The glint of his gun under his blazer and the taut lines of muscle under his black shirt said he hadn’t just wandered into this moment.I blinked. Then blinked again. My body deflated.“Oh my God,” I gasped, clutching my chest as my knees nearly buckled. “Leon! You scared the hell out of me! What are you even doing here? Were you following me again?!”He didn’t answer immediately. Instead, his eyes scanned over my should

  • The Devil's Nurse   Behind Roman’s Smile

REINA’S POV“You can’t hand it over?” I repeated, the room tilting just slightly around me. “What the hell do you mean you can’t hand it over? It’s mine. My father—”“Reina, stop.” His voice was calm, but laced with something heavy. Exhausted. “You’re getting it wrong. I’m not cheating you out of your father’s company. God, I’d never—” He scrubbed a hand over his face and sat down heavily behind his desk. “The truth is... I haven’t been paying attention. I let things slip. Too many things.”My stomach knotted. “What are you saying?”“I’m saying that since your father’s death, I’ve been trying to keep things afloat while managing my own business, but I made mistakes. Big ones.” He leaned forward, voice low. “Records aren’t adding up. Whole quarters of account sheets missing, staff embezzling, invoices forged. The logistics wing lost two major clients last month. I had no idea until it was too late.”My mouth fell open.“The meeting you walked in on earlier?” He nodded toward the shut

  • The Devil's Nurse   Red Flags?

Reina’s POVAfter that, the ride became too quiet. Not the comfortable silence of old friends or the heavy silence of lovers in a fight. No. This one felt off—like we were in the opening scene of a horror movie. Right before the jump scare. The sky was too clear, the streets too normal, and yet every fiber of my being screamed that something was wrong.I kept glancing at him from the corner of my eye. Roman. My Roman. Or so I thought. But he wasn’t looking at the road like he usually did—relaxed, humming under his breath. He was too composed. Too still. The shadows under his eyes seemed deeper today. Like he hadn’t slept. Or maybe hadn’t blinked.“Reina,” he said suddenly, catching my gaze mid-suspicion. “If you keep staring at me like that, I’m gonna start thinking you’re planning to eat me.”I blinked, startled. “What?”“Yeah,” he said, grinning, that boyish Roman grin stretched over something steelier. “You’ve got that look. Like I’m the last Twinkie in the apocalypse. Take a p

  • The Devil's Nurse   Same Roman?

Reina’s POV“Are you okay?” Roman asked softly, tugging at my elbow. I realized I’d just been… standing there, staring into space.“I’m fine,” I lied.He raised a brow.I forced a weak smile. “Well, I’m as fine as someone in a blood-stained dress can be without looking like a low-budget horror movie victim.”Roman snorted. “Reina, please. You look like you just crawled out of a cult initiation and murdered your way to the buffet table. People are gonna think you eat humans if you step outside like that.”I actually laughed—real, sudden, sharp. It caught me off guard. Him too.But then it faded. I stopped smiling. I looked down at my hands. Then back up at him.“You’re leaving, right?” My voice barely made it out.He blinked. “I mean, yeah. I just got a call. Why?”“Can you give me a ride?” I asked. “Just… drop me somewhere.”Roman shrugged easily. “Sure. But not with you looking like you just crawled out of a slaughterhouse. You need to change first before someone calls animal control
