Cassain’s POV

The bodies were already half-dragged out…two traitors gone and the cleaners busy with the last wet smear of blood…yet the men lingered like flies that hadn’t yet decided whether to leave the feast. I flicked my eyes across the table and found Lucas planted by the doorway, one hand theatrically wiping the corner of his eye as if the meeting had turned sentimental.

Why can’t they take a hint and just give Reina and me some privacy?

“Why is the room still crowded?” I asked, slow and flat, because I didn’t have the energy for games and I already had one of them chewing on my patience. My voice cuts across the chatter. The men look down, shuffle. Some give a bad grin. None move.

Lucas blinked at me with the wide, mock-sorrow face he kept for moments when he wanted everyone to laugh at his expense. He’s a stupid man in a beautiful suit when he wants to be, and a faithful one when it matters. He put on the rite of a tear…two fingers dragging the corner of his cheek, the motion

  • The Devil's Nurse   Please, Reina

Cassian’s POVI rolled into the room like a man steering a small, private war, Reina still warm and light on my lap, her hip tucked against my thigh like she belonged there by force of gravity and choice. The door sighed shut behind us, closing the kitchen's laughter and Lorenzo's smug face into a memory I kept promising myself I wouldn't let rot me.She had a smear of sandwich on her lip; when she noticed me watching she licked it away with a grin that was all teeth and challenge. The sight of it made something inside me unclench and then snap in two.“You done?” I asked, and the question was softer than the way my hands still trembled from the kitchen. “Full?”“Yes.” Her voice was a whisper and a verdict. “I’m full.” She pulled her legs up so they rested against the arm of my chair, toes brushing my knee. Close. Dangerous. Perfect. It was the kitchen air…butter and sugar and Lorenzo's aftertaste…that left me raw. I wanted to feed her everything that could be named and everything tha

  • The Devil's Nurse   When the Devil Gets Jealous

Cassian’s POVWith that thought in mind, I began rolling toward the kitchen. My snack said she was hungry and wanted to eat.Eat. The word replayed like a dare. I hope she’s full enough to take me again.Stop it, Cassian! I snapped inwardly. The poor girl had been limping earlier because of last night, and yet this beast inside me still wanted to break her again. Think straight. Spend time with her. Be human for once. But doubt was already gnawing at me. Because the truth was simple: Reina had become my madness. And madness never listened to reason.I felt Lucas catching up to me, his shadow long against the hall light.“What now?” I growled. My patience was already a ghost. “And why the fuck didn’t you tell me Lorenzo was in my house?”He scratched the back of his neck like a boy who’d been caught stealing sweets. “I didn’t know, boss. I asked the men and they said he came in real late last night.”I rolled forward, and he followed like a dog that didn’t know when it was about to be

  • The Devil's Nurse   Our Own Rom-Com

Cassian’s POVOkay, maybe I messed up again.“I almost lost you!” she shouted, tears spilling fresh down her cheeks. “You…you drank poison in front of me, Cassian! Do you know what that felt like? Watching you slip away while I—I couldn’t do anything?”Her voice cracked. She choked on her own sobs and turned her face away, wiping furiously at her eyes.My chest clenched. God, the sight of her crying… for me. It twisted something brutal and soft inside me all at once.I wheeled myself forward with sudden force, the chair rolling until I was inches from her. My hand shot out, grabbing her wrist…not harshly, but firm enough to remind her she was mine.“I didn’t slip away, Reina,” I said, low and fierce. “I was watching. Listening. Laughing inside while those rats thought they had me. Because this is my house. Nothing happens here without me knowing. Nothing.”Her eyes snapped to mine, blazing. “So you let me believe you were dying? You let me fall apart in front of everyone…for a laugh?”

  • The Devil's Nurse   A Game of Poison

Cassian’s POV“Cassian!”Her little hands were suddenly on my chest, trembling, frantic, pushing at me as if she could force the poison back out with sheer desperation. I gave her a grunt, weak and broken, just enough to drive the knife of fear deeper into the room.Lucas bolted from his post, his shoes pounding the floor as he skidded to my side and pried Reina off me. He will fucking pay for that. For sure.“Boss! Boss…shit…” He grabbed my shoulder, eyes wide, panic streaking across his usually cold face. From the corner of my half-closed eyes, I caught the flicker.Enrique and Tom.The smug satisfaction painting their faces was enough to make me want to laugh out loud right then and there. But I kept my head tilted, my breath shallow, every motion choreographed. This is my house. My kingdom. Did they really think they could poison me like some green idiot fresh to the throne?Wolves, I thought. Pathetic ones, thinking they could outwit the hunter.Reina’s sobs tore at my ears. She

  • The Devil's Nurse   My Half-brother

Cassian’s POVThe glass hit the ground with a satisfying crack, shards scattering across the marble floor like glittering accusations. I wanted them to cut into Lorenzo’s bare feet, wanted to watch him bleed just for the audacity of standing there like some goddamn Greek statue in my house, with my woman’s wrist still red from his hold.Reina’s scream sliced through me, high and panicked as she wriggled out of his grasp and dashed towards me. In a matter of seconds, she was straddling me like it was the most natural thing. Her hands were on my chest, her eyes wild, wet with tears.“You just drank poison!” she cried again, her voice breaking like glass.I tilted my head back against the leather of my chair, letting her words soak in for a beat. Poison. My men. Betrayal. And yet…what had my blood boiling wasn’t the supposed poison that should be threading through my veins. It was him. My half-brother, lounging against a pillar as if this were his stage, his smirk wide, mocking. His h
