Chapter 11

Lillian 

"Thanks for driving me !" I waved at Aiden. 

"I could wait till you're done getting ready and then drop you off ." He spoke, getting out of the car. 

"Oh...no, it's fine . You've done enough". 

He faked a frown. " You don't want to invite me in ?" 

"I don't want to take your time; it's still early . I'm sure you have other things to do ". 

If only he knew I wanted him gone because I was too ashamed of where I lived. 

I know I shouldn't be; some people were homeless, but still, this was my boss's brother. I didn't want him to think any less of me. 

He remained silent for a few seconds. " Alright, I'll take a ride and be back in an hour. How about that ?" 

I chuckled. At least I'll get to save money so why refuse the offer?

" Alright then, see you in an hour". 

He nodded and drove off. I ran to my apartment hoping Jade hadn't gone to work yet. 

   I missed her call yesterday because my phone was on silent.  The door was open, indicating she was still in. I breathed in relief as I entered.

   I met her in our small living room putting on her heels. She was already fully dressed for work. She turned her head in my direction as soon as I stepped in.

Grasping, she jumped on her feet hurrying over to me. " Where the hell have you been? Why weren't you answering your phone ." 

"Relax jade, I was at work". I shoved her away throwing my purse and the shopping bag filled with tampons on the couch. 

"At work ?" She walked over and picked up the bag, using a finger to pick up a new pair of lacy panties.

Her eyes widened into saucers ."At work! Don't tell me you're sleeping with your boss!" 

I almost choked on my saliva." What the hell !...No! " 

"Then what are these, and how do you explain your stay at work?" 

She threw the panties at me and it landed on my face. " Have you ever heard of working overtime?" I snarled, throwing the black lacy material back at her. 

"You've barely worked a week! Is your boss that heartless? " 

I sighed. " He is all the bad words, jade . Arrogant, stubborn, a jerk, rude and I think he has anger issues ". 

"Is he that bad ?" 

I shook my head. " He is the worst. His brother is the opposite though, he even dropped me off and offered to pick me up an hour from now " 

Her lips formed an 'o'. " You mean his hot brother offered you a ride ?" She began fanning herself with her hand. 

I rolled my eyes." Hot? Do you even know who I'm talking about ? " 

She smacked her lips. " Who doesn't know the Kent brothers, they are all over the internet. Although I'd prefer his older brother if he wasn't such a jerk, he's much taller, good-looking and well-built. What was his name again?" 

I shook my head. " His name is Zayden. And need I remind you, you have a boyfriend that you are madly in love with !" 

She giggled. "Don't tell Nico I was admiring another man". 

I sighed; I had no strength left for further gossip. I should probably start getting prepared before Aiden returns.

"Oh, that reminds me, Lily. I'm moving out soon ". Jade suddenly said. 

  I was in the process of undressing, but I had to pause. " You're moving out ?" I was beyond baffled.

She bit her lips; she knew the impact of her words. I had lived the last 6 years with her, and all the way, she had been my life support and only family. Even though I now had a proper job, the thought of her leaving was saddening.

"Nico asked me to move in with him and I said yes" 

"Oh", I tried not to sound disappointed, but I couldn't help it. " It seems he's really serious about you ".

"Yeah ". 

Silence followed. We just stood there staring at each other. 

"You don't have to worry about rent, I already paid half. So you should be off for the next few weeks ". 

"Thank you " 

"Oh Lilly, come here". She wrapped her hands around me and I did the same.

"I'll miss you ". I told her biting my lips to hold back my tears. 

"I'll come to visit every Saturday and then will go drinking ", she chuckled.

I laughed. " I don't drink but that's acceptable". 

Just then we heard the honking of a car. Has it been an hour already?
