Chapter 65

Lillian

I looked around, pretending to search for the laptop because I couldn't bring myself to tell him about it and ruin this blissful atmosphere.

We just confessed to each other, for Christ's sake. I'm not ruining this mood with the laptop issue.

" Can the duty wait?...for a few days, maybe?" I batted my eyelashes up at him.

His eyes fell to my lips and then a smile appeared on his face." Anything for you."

I smiled back and we both went to bed.

Two days later, I had morning sickness. We already planned our day with Jade tagging along, but with my current state, I wasn't so sure anymore.

It felt like my organs were crashing against each other. Nevertheless, we went out.

Zayden booked a hotel close to the beach and a high-class resort. It was Jade's idea that we try out the beach first before any other place on my extravagant list. We also planned to surprise Zayden with the news of my pregnancy at the beach. I was nervous but to hell with it.

So here we were, sitting in one of the resorts sipping coconut milk and waiting for the sun to set before going into the waters.

I was wearing a bikini, and there was a tiny bump on my tummy, but it wasn't noticeable yet. Zayden was against my wearing a bikini and wanted me to wear a beach dress instead, but I refused.

I got up from my chair and walked over to the counter to get some sandwiches. Zayden followed closely behind me, shielding my half-naked body with his broad one.

" I told you to wear that beach dress! This piece of cloth is barely covering anything." He snarled, His eyes glaring at every male who dared stare in my direction.

" It's called a bikini for a reason." I counted, placing my order.

"I hate that there are various eyes on you. Go change!" He spoke, grabbing my elbow.

I shrugged him off. Picking up my drink, I swayed my ass back to our table." I'm comfortable in this."

He sighed in frustration, finally giving up. Suddenly his eyes darkened as someone approached us.

A lean French man with blonde curly hair and piercings in his ears.

" Excuse me, miss!" He breathed, his accent sharp.

Zayden stared at him long and hard and I almost cracked up with the way he was clutching his mug tightly.

I smiled up at him, suddenly feeling like a bitch and about to make my husband jealous.

Not my fault! Just the pregnancy hormone doing its job.

" Oh, hello!"

I heard a low growl from a certain someone sitting across from me.

"You're wonderfully made, Miss." He said reaching for my hand to place a kiss on it. But he was too slow, or rather Zayden was too fast at smacking his hands away from mine

" Don't!" Zayden glared at him and he flinched, clearing his throat awkwardly.

" I was just going to place a kiss on her knuckles." The blonde man spoke.

His jaw ticked." Are you blind? There's a fucking ring on her finger!"

Blondie creased his brows." So? It's not a big deal. It's a French country; a kiss on the hands is a greeting."

" You can shove your greeting up your ass, Don't touch my wife!" Zayden snarled a little louder this time, making heads turn in our direction.

The French man stared at my husband long and hard before finally turning to face me.

" Pardon me miss. I work for a modelling agency and just wanted to know if......."

Zayden snapped." We are not interested, fuck off!"

I rolled my eyes at him." He wasn't even done speaking."

" Exactly, I don't want him to." Turning to face the French man who was already staring daggers at him." Take your agency elsewhere, her beauty is not for hire."

The man opened his mouth to speak but eventually shut it and then walked away.

" You don't have to be so rude you know." Sipping on my drink, I spoke.

" It's your fault for wearing that!"

I only rolled my eyes and couldn't counter because Jade just walked in.

" Finally secured a space for us." She huffed, pulling me to my feet." Let's go drink some salt water!" She glanced at me knowingly. She had been busy arranging a little surprise for my dear Zay Zay.

I was feeling giddy about this. I wanted to do something for him. Something that'll be stuck in our memories forever. I know I already told him how I felt, but I felt that it wasn't enough.

I've been thinking about it lately. He didn't have a childhood, and I know he was a grown-ass man, but it wouldn't hurt to do some things for fun. Like all the things he had missed out on while being locked away.

There was a fair a few blocks away from the resort and Jade already helped in buying tickets for all the games and rides I picked out.

So now, we'll just enjoy the beach for a while till it gets a little dark and head over to the fair.

Speaking of the beach, I had to force Zayden into the water, and I unlocked a new secret.

Zayden was hydrophobic! Or it's more like he disliked salt water and kept bringing up excuses not to go in.

" Then you leave us no choice!" Jade spoke handing me a water gun.

Zayden scoffed."those are for children."

I aimed at him." Exactly, and we are going to put holes in you with our weapon.

" Don't!" He took a step back.

I fired first, spluttering water straight at his face. And then jade followed.

We ended up chasing him around the beach laughing at the top of our voices.

I didn't fail to capture the expression on his face. He was relaxed and there was a new glow in his eyes.

Extravagant list number one; play on the beach, check!

Zayden didn't get to do things children should and he's not too old to do them.

Next up was the fair bustling with people. We were going to try at least five rides and play five games here.

  

  I got to unlock another secret about Zayden, he was terrified of heights!

I couldn't help my laugh." Are you serious about this right now?"

He maintained a straight face while staring at the rollercoaster, like he wanted to smash it." I'm not scared of heights. Those are for children."

"Haven't you been on one of these before?" Jade asked, a snort running down her nose from laughing too hard.

" No!"

" Then how did you spend your entire childhood?" Jade inquired.

It was meant to be a joke but the atmosphere suddenly turned cold.

I coughed, interrupting immediately." Let's just try it out."

Thankfully, Zayden didn't resist, and we got on it. I couldn't capture his expression because I was too busy screaming at the tip of my lungs but when we came down, Zayden rushed out before everyone.

I furrowed my brows and ran after him. I followed him to a bend and saw him throwing up.

  A good wife should probably pat his back gently and get some water but me?

I sat my ass down on the concrete floor, pointed a finger at him and laughed like the world was going to end.

He glared at me as Jade handed him a bottle of water

" I'm sorry, I just never imagined you throwing up."

" Okay, no more rides let's try the games," Jade suggested.

We tried others, and then the haunted house. While I was clutching his shirt in anticipation of what scary mannequin would appear next, Zayden strolled through the house. I think he scared the mannequins away.

All in all, I made Zayden laugh a lot and it was satisfying. I ticked all on the extravagant list except rides that involved height.

Now it was time for the big reveal. I was getting nervous, Jade gave me a knowing look.

" I'll be retiring early; I have to call Nico on video, so bye!" And then she disappeared just like we planned.

" Should we head back to the hotel too?" Zayden asked.

"Not yet, there's  One last thing." I led him back to the beach. To a small beach house, I rented for the night.

I spent a ton of French money preparing this, so I was nervous that he wouldn't like it since I still don't know his exact taste.

"Put this one." I handed him a blindfold.

He stared at it and then his lips curled up." A surprise?"

I rolled my eyes. I led him to the balcony and then slowly took off the blindfold.

His eyes scan the environment. And they landed on our wedding photo. Sadly, that's the only photo we had together, but tonight, I was going to change that.

The balcony was decorated in a romantic style, with roses and candles.

"You did this for...for...me?" He picked up the photo from the row of flowers.

I beamed, hiding a box behind me." I wanted to make you feel special, to remind you that you are loved and appreciated."

He opened his mouth to speak and then closed it back. His eyes spoke a thousand unspoken words.

" Lillian.......fuck, you didn't have to ....." He ran a hand through his hair, disbelief written all over his face

I chuckled then brought out the box." Just a little something for you."

It was a couple's bracelet; I had our initials dented on the silver bracelet. Grabbing his wrists, I placed it gently around him and then I giggled showing him mine on my wrists.

" Lillian......" He breathed, his eyes filled with love as he stared at our matching bracelet.

" I'm not done, we have to take a lot of photos. Just this one wouldn't do."

He took a deep breath and then placed a kiss on my knuckles." Jesus Christ, I'm so overwhelmed."

  Jade walked in with a camera in her hand." Smile for the camera, I still have to talk to Nico."

And then we took some pictures, a lot of them, and the jade disappeared again.

" I have another surprise for you, but first this." I picked up a plastic bag that had been lying on the flowers since.

He opened it." A laptop?"

"About your old laptop." I cleared my throat.

He sat  on the wooden chair, relaxing further into the cushion." Don't tell me the battery's down because you used it."

I swallowed." It's worse than that."

He blinked at me.

" It's gone bad." I finally said.

He stared at me for a while, and then slowly, he creased his brows.

" I....well...we destroyed it by accident. I'm sorry; I know you needed it for work, and I should have listened when you........."

He shut me up with his lips." Do I look like I can get angry at you right now?"

I sighed in relief." But I'm sorry."

He grazed his lips on mine again." And you got me a new one."

" But those docs you have inside are all gone."

He shook his head." I already transferred them to my drive so don't worry about it."

I heaved a sigh of relief and then moved into the next stage, telling him I was pregnant.

This was harder than it looked." One last surprise."

He chuckled deeply, his lips curling up in a gentle smile." I should be the one doing this but....."

I picked up another bag and handed it over to him. His lips curled up as he opened it.

I beamed." I'm pregnant." I said as he brought out a tiny onesie that had a card attached to it with the writing ' coming soon!'

He looked from me to the onesie, then at my tummy, and then back at me.

" We are going to be parents," I told him, unable to hide my excitement.

I waited for his outburst but it didn't come. My heart squeezed as I waited.

Slowly, his smile faded and he dropped the onesie to the floor.
