He is alive!

Zayden is fucking alive!

The moment it registered in my head I couldn't help but break down all over again. Here I was thinking about how I was going to pick up the shattered pieces he left behind.

I was beyond relieved our daughter would have a father figure.

We had to wait forty-eight hours for him to be out of surgery.

It reminded me of that time we got into an accident. This was the second time he was going into surgery because of me. So right now, I was losing patience, waiting for the nurse to transfer him to a VIP room.

My fingers were trembling from anticipation. I want to see him so badly and tell him how much I love him. How much I felt like our bond had been deepend. How much he meant to me and most of all, I want him to see his daughter.

The wait was long and worth it. Finally, we were told to come in, and Jade helped me get into a wheelchair and took me to his room.

Zayden looked so angelic and so peaceful.  He had an oxygen mask on and the nurse said it might take a while before he wakes up because he had lost a lot of blood and sustained a deep Injury from where the arrow almost pierced through his heart.

The sound of someone clearing his throat startled me and I turned my head just in time to see a police officer sitting casually on the spare couch.

I creased my brows, confusion evident on my face. It was then I noticed the handcuffs on Zayden's hand, cuffing one of his hands to the bed.

I looked from the officer then to Zayden." Excuse me? What the fuck is this?" I didn't bother hiding my anger.

This people had no regard at all.

He got to his feet." I'm sorry, ma'am, but this is necessary."

I nearly scoffed." How so? Please do tell."

He adjusted his uniform." That man there is a dangerous criminal...he"

I cut him off rudely." That man there is my husband!"

He nodded." of course, he has violated a lot of rules, some of them being breaking out of the precinct, shooting five police officers and damaging two of our cars." He paused, letting me assimilate all that Zayden did just to get to me.

I looked over at him where he lay with his eyes closed. I couldn't help but smile.

I know I'm insane right? Smiling over the fact that your husband broke out of prison and shot a couple of officers to get to you.

We were both insane people and insanely in love.

I couldn't love him any less.

The officer caught me smiling and nearly chortled." And worse he has unregistered firearms. It's prohibited to own a gun without legal registration but your husband had dozens of them. This is a serious offence, ma'am. He is going to spend some quality time in prison and then once he's found guilty, it'll even be longer."

I nearly rolled my eyes.

Speaking of which, Zayden is not going to jail. I'll do everything in my power to prevent that.

If I was fully recovered, I would have confronted Aiden myself but for now, I'll let it rest. Probably before then, Zayden would be awake. Sage won't suffer alone; Aiden will join her soon. I'll make sure of it.

" I still see no need for the handcuffs, can't you see he is unconscious!" I snarled.

"He is a very dangerous criminal. I was ordered to restrain him till he gets back to his prison cell." The officer mentioned, standing his ground.

I so much wanted to walk over to him and give him a punch in the face, but my legs were still weak from giving birth.

" And you think that just this one handcuff is going to restrain him?" I raised an amused brow." If your thick prison bars and dozens of officers couldn't stop him from breaking out of prison then what makes you think that just these flimsy handcuffs would stop him from walking out of this hospital."

The officer fell quiet, and then he glanced at Zayden for a brief second.

" Get that thing off him, right now. I want him to be as comfortable as possible." I waved a hand.

The officer remained unmoving.

I threw a glare at him." Uhh.....are you perhaps deaf?" I asked, I was losing my patience." I do not want to repeat myself."

The officer still remained unmoving." I'm following orders ma'am."

I exchanged looks with Jade. She rolled her eyes and then stepped forward, walking over to where the officer stood." Look here, young man. If you don't get that cuff off him right now then I'm going to bite off your ears. If you think I can't, Just try me." She bared her teeth at him and I couldn't help but smile.

The officer shrank and then hesitated before bringing out a pair of keys." I'm only doing this because he is unconscious. The moment he opens his eyes, he goes back to jail."

I snickered." You'll have to go through me first."

He gave me a look, probably thought of me as an insignificant person but from the way his shoulders were tensed, he felt the chill.

Jade rolled her eyes." And go stand guard outside while you are at it. You are intruding on our privacy."

The poor man did as he was told and soon disappeared.

Jade took me over to the bed, and my eyes were wet with tears again.

" Now I know for sure he loves you deeply," Jade commented.

I looked up at her." I actually thought no one would come for me."

She chuckled." Hell no. If he wasn't arrested he would have come sooner."

I sighed, my heart was finally at peace." I can finally relax."

The room fell silent for a few minutes before Jade broke it." You can't relax yet. Tyrell is still out there. And since it has been broadcast on the news that you've been rescued ...there's no telling what he might do."

I swallowed painfully.

She continued." And Zayden is still unconscious, it's his perfect time to strike."

" He can't possibly come to a hospital. He's at risk of getting caught." I spoke, trying to assure myself that I was safe here.

Jade sighed heavily." He's desperate, Lily. I saw the look in his eyes. We have to get the cops on this."

I contemplated and she was right. Zayden isn't well enough to protect me so I have to fall back to the cops.

Later that evening, I was transferred to the same room as Zayden. I and jade visited the baby in the neonatal ICU every hour, and now it was time for my check-up and for me to take a rest.

I explained to Oliver and told him everything I knew about Tryell, and he promised to get bodyguards tomorrow, and then the cops would be involved.

This time it wasn't just to catch him and put him in prison. He was already sentenced to death for serial killing.

So when they find him, it's shot to kill. It was exactly 6 pm when it was broadcast that a girl was found dead in a supermarket, and Tryell's signature was on the scene.

How he carried out such a gruesome act in a supermarket was unknown, but that poor girl had lost her life.

I won't say I wasn't freaking out, I was but at least I had Jade and Oliver to keep me company day and night.

I soon fell asleep when it was 9 pm but the feeling of something grazing my cheeks jolted me awake.

My eyelashes fluttered, and I opened my eyes to see a figure standing above me.

At first, I thought it was Zayden, but Zayden was on the leaner side.

My blood ran cold as I felt a cold steel pressed against my neck.

" Don't make a sound, little bird." He whispered in my eyes.

My heart rate accelerated and I glanced around frantically. My eyes fell on Jade, unmoving on the couch, and Zayden was still conscious on the hospital bed.

Why was Jade lying so still?

Where is Oliver?

I looked over at him. His mismatched eyes gleamed in the dim light.

" We are going home today, little bird." He spoke and then placed a kiss on the side of my face.

My whole body trembled." Please, I'm begging you. Just leave me alone." I whimpered, hoping secretly that someone would walk in.

"Nahh.....we belong together. I'm your god and you're my pretty little servant." He growled.

His face was so close to mine that I had to turn away so his lips would touch me again.

"Now, stand to your feet slowly and walk out of this room." He ordered.

The first tear slid down my cheeks." I just gave birth, I can barely walk. Please, just let me be."

He remained quiet for a moment." You had a child with him, eh?"

The temperature in the room suddenly dropped." I said marry him but now you have a child with him!"

His voice was laced with fury and I just sat there shaking like jelly.

" Please, I'm begging you. Let me go." I pleaded.

He remained quiet for a while before opening his mouth to speak.

" It's your choice, either you walk out of this room right now, or I'll end him."

I looked over at Zayden and then at Jade.

Why?

Why do bad things keep happening to me?
