"Julia, don't make a big deal out of this," Gavin said, his fierce eyes fixed on her with an intensity that had once commanded boardrooms and bent wills to his favor.

The familiar authority rang through his tone as he attempted to regain control of a room that had already slipped irreversibly from his grasp.

He straightened his shoulders.

The expensive fabric of his tailored suit suddenly seemed like nothing more than costume jewelry.

Then he turned to Bella, his expression softening into something almost paternal, almost protective. "Bella, apologize to Julia, and we will put this behind us," he instructed, his voice taking on a reasonable, diplomatic quality that made Julia's stomach turn. "Everyone here has a reputation to uphold. Let's not blow this out of proportion."

The words landed like salt poured directly into an open wound, stinging and corrosive.

"I can't just let it go!" Julia snapped emphatically, her voice erupting from somewhere deep within her chest.

The hall seemed to shrink after Julia's words landed, as though the walls themselves were listening and holding their breath."Once she's convicted, you'll face charges too."Megan's eyebrows went wide as she turned back to Julia, disbelief flashing across her face, then something close to fear. For a second, she looked less like the polished woman of the Reynolds family and more like someone cornered by a truth she had hoped would never catch up to her."You're even going after your own mother now too?" Megan said finally, her voice breaking at the edges, almost collapsing under its own weight. Her eyes shimmered, not quite with tears yet, but with that fragile shine that came before them. She pressed a hand to her throat as if the words were physically painful to speak. "Do you have any conscience or humanity left? How can you stand there and threaten me like this?"Julia didn't rush to answer. She stood there, shoulders straight, spine stiff with a strength she had built in silen

Julia then turned to glance at Bella, who was still shaking in fear, her shoulders trembling as though the air itself had turned cold against her skin. The silence in the hall was no longer the expectant hush of celebration, but the heavy, suffocating quiet that followed truth when it finally landed with the force of a judge's gavel.Julia lifted her hand slowly, her finger steady despite the storm burning behind her eyes. Her arm rose with deliberate precision."She's definitely going to jail," Julia said, her voice sharp, unwavering, and final as she pointed fiercely at Bella.Bella shuddered violently at the words, her entire body reacting as if Julia had physically struck her. If Jack hadn't been standing beside her, his arm wrapped firmly around her waist, she would have collapsed to the floor in a heap of silk and desperation. Her fingers dug into his sleeve with such force that her knuckles turned bone white. Her head shook in frantic denial, back and forth, a desperate gest

Bella was breathing fast, her chest rising and falling unevenly as she stood beside Jack, clinging to the sleeve of his suit like it was the only thing keeping her upright. Her face had lost all colour, her lips trembling as her eyes darted between Julia and William. The hall, once filled with laughter and music, now felt suffocating, heavy with judgment and fear.“Do you think that’s the only phone I have?” Julia asked calmly, her voice slicing through the tension like a blade. She reached into her bag again and brought out another phone, holding it up for everyone to see. “Are you going to smash this one too, just to shut everyone up?”A collective gasp rippled through the guests. Murmurs followed immediately, low and uneasy, as heads turned toward Bella and Jack. Bella’s fingers tightened around Jack’s arm, her knuckles whitening.Megan stepped forward quickly, her expression carefully arranged into concern, her tone soft and measured, the same tone she always used when she want

"So I rounded up everyone who ever hurt you and forced the truth out of them."William's voice cut through the lingering tension in the hall like a blade through silk, calm, and deliberate. There was no theatricality in his delivery, no dramatic pause for effect. He spoke as though he were discussing something as mundane as the weather, yet the weight of his words landed like stones in still water.Julia stared at him, her breath catching somewhere between her lungs and her throat. The man standing before her with unwavering eyes, the one person in this entire room who had never once doubted her, who had never asked her to prove her innocence. Her throat tightened painfully, emotions swelling inside her chest like a tide she could no longer hold back. When she finally managed to speak, her voice emerged softer than she intended, almost fragile. "You've done so much for me."William stepped closer, closing the distance between them with quiet confidence. His presence alone seemed t

Quietly, William dipped a hand into the inner pocket of his tailored coat and brought out a phone. The hall, which had been boiling with noise only moments ago, slowly sank into an uneasy silence, as if everyone sensed that whatever was coming next would not be light.“In addition to the accident video,” William said calmly, his voice steady but edged with something dark, “I also discovered the truth about the abuse Julia suffered in prison.”Julia’s head snapped up instantly. Until that moment, she had been holding herself together through sheer will, her spine straight, her chin lifted in defiance. But at those words, something flickered in her eyes. Shock. Pain. And a fear she thought she had buried deep enough never to resurface again.Bella, on the other hand, began to gasp audibly. Her breathing turned erratic, shallow, as though the air in the hall had suddenly thinned. She staggered half a step backward, clutching Jack’s arm unconsciously, her fingers digging into his sleev
