She waited years for him to hold her heart.

Now all she wanted was to be free of it.

Kathryn's Pov

I had no idea what was wrong with me, I was never this weak, this given up then what was actually wrong with me? I couldn't sleep, each time I tried closing my eyes I could see my son, my husband's indifference and my own bloody form. I had no idea until when I would actually be able to close my eyes like before and sleep the night away. My heart was crumbling and soul wrenching each time I thought about the tiny frame I held for the first time in my arms but it was nothing like I imagined. He didn't open his eyes, he didn't smile, he didn't even make a slightest noise. He just left me, without a single noise, look and touch.

I never thought the motherhood I craved for years would be snatched away from me this viciously, what was even my fault? Just because I was married to Karl Salazar, the man she was obsessed with, was it really my fault that? Yes, everyone already knew who was the culprit, and right after her crimes were reported to police, she disappeared. It wasn't hard for me to put a finger on who was behind her disappearance, the corrupt, slaves of Karl Salazar cops brought her to the police station and right after her stepping out of it she just disappeared, it was so easy to guess especially when I knew what a bloodthirsty monster Karl can became in revenge.

His father's case was a proof of it, the way he avenged his father and took revenge from everyone who once walked over his father never failed to send a shiver down my spine. The man was ruthless in his ways and this one time I didn't mind his corrupt ways, I actually wished for him to give the pain I and my son suffered thousand folds more to Every, she snatched my last bit of hope and I really hope for her to get the worst of the worst she deserved.

I inhaled a sharp breath tightening the shawl around my body even more as a chilly wind caressed my body, it had been a week I last saw Karl in the funeral, and I as always was confined to these suffocating four walls. Karl didn't come, comfort or coax me like always, he must be expecting that like each time I will need a little time to calm down and I will go back to loving, caring and adoring him like I did in the past but he was wrong. This time he was so wrong.

One person could give themselves to one limit, and I had reached that limit, I was tired of being taken for granted, for just giving and giving. Never getting anything in return, I fought with every indifference, distant and coldness from Karl and kept on coaxing myself that one day he will understand my love, my devotion and my worth but I was so wrong. Even after his disrespectful words while waving away my concern over his cousin and Every I didn't give up, i kept on fighting for my son but now when my son wasn't even with us, what was the use of this one sided battle anymore?

The family I belonged to was a terrible explanation of rotten marriages, once married never could return back to being single, even the thought of divorce was always considered taboo in our families. I said yes to this marriage with my whole will, even though I didn't get to choose who I wanted to be with but still Karl had drawn me to him for many reasons.

His looks, physique and maybe somewhere even the gentle and caring touch he laid on me, I started falling for this man when he didn't force me to consummate our marriage like most men in our families preferred to do considering touching their wives as their rights. We had no physical contact in the first month of our marriage, Karl wasn't always busy, initially he used to come around and spend time with me until two months of marriage he got extremely busy with the new campaign of becoming the sheriff.

And eventually our distance became so much that the flower I blossomed in my heart of his love started withering away and the last petal fell away the night I lost my child. My heart didn't love him as much as it did before, maybe it still held some feelings but now mostly I felt cold and numbness in my empty heart for him.

Sometimes I actually wish Karl had kept a mistress and cheated me, it would had made easier for me to hate him and never let my heart be sway away at his selective gentle gestures. In our world, having mistresses wasn't a big deal, even the wives here had side boys to keep themselves away from whatever the heartbreak they would have suffered after finding their husbands being unfaithful.

I always hated men of my family, my uncles, grandfather and even my father had mistresses outside, my mother never complaint and taught me to be the understanding and compromising wife like her. My uncles weren't as cruel and hypocritical as my father, he had various mistresses outside but never let any of his wife's side boy to last a week, eventually she got tired and gave up on finding happiness outside after all he was adamant on making her rely on him solely which she learned to obey with time.

Sometimes I really hoped for me to find Karl finding a woman and making her his mistress, in this way I wouldn't had fallen for him, maybe I even had hated him more than anything but he never was unfaithful. Karl Salazar was named as the unique husband in our world, he was one of the rarest one to be found here who didn't find any woman out even though he could easily do.

Married women envied me and even lectured me many times to be obedient to him and never upset him, as per their words, he was too in love with me to actually think of cheating. And initially even I was delusional to think that bluff as a truth until he started neglecting me as well, and with time I realized, for him work and business was everything. He didn't have the time to even have a proper meal then how could he even think of finding a woman outside which he had to give his attention, time and efforts.

I heard the heavy footsteps entering the vast balcony and the second his usual strong scent hit my nose I knew he finally had decided that one week should be enough for me to calm down. I still had a hard time walking around but it was far better than before because of a constant reminder of I losing my son on my abdomen, the scar that would haunt me for lifetime.

I didn't need to turn to see who the man was, that scent and his aura was enough for me to recognize his presence, suddenly I felt a warm coat being wrapped around my body, I tried to pull it off but he held my shoulders not letting the coat to even move from my body and within a second I was turned around to face the familiar face which I used to crave to see but now the desperation had been exhausted to its last limit.

I watched his deep emerald eyes which I used to admire the most, his eyes were so unique that the first time I looked in them I was left speechless. They held a weird kind of charm that every women would be drawn to them, even during our passionate moments I never forgot to compliment his beautiful eyes, even once he demanded to hear it from me when he was too hard and I couldn't keep up the contact. I always thought he liked me admiring his eyes but now to think of it, was it liking or just the fact that he had me wrapped around his little finger? I don't know and I really don't want to know anymore.

"How long are you going to keep this attitude up?" I again tried to push his hands away but he tightened them forcing me to look at him.

"This should be enough Kath, I gave you a whole week to gather yourself, to mourn and accept the truth, you need to stop acting so unreasonable already." Unreasonable? I scoffed internally at his words, yes I was always an unreasonable wife if I ever tried to show my anger to him.

If I didn't like his female colleagues who openly hit on him, I was unreasonable, if I asked him to get the women I felt uncomfortable around away, I was unreasonable and even now, I didn't even have the right to be mad, sad and depress beyond week for losing my son. Yeah, I was really unreasonable.

Karl Salazar never for once coaxed me after any of our fights or arguments, just like this he would disappear and would come back after some days or weeks and eventually I would be the one to compromise and behave like everything was fine. If even once I tried to show my displeasure at his way of handling our matters, I would be labeled unreasonable. There was a time I feared him calling me that but today I didn't care. I forcefully pulled his hands away even after his warning and he finally let me go frowning deeply.

"You're right, I am unreasonable, childish and an annoying wife just like you always said," I looked in his eyes pulling his coat off my body and letting it fall on the ground but he didn't waver his gaze from mine keeping his frown intact.

"If that's the case, then I think it's better we get a divorce."

As expected his wife was crying while laying her head on the closed head of the casket, his little son was trapped in it and there was nothing he could do to bring him out. There was a massive reason why Karl wore shades in such an occasion, his eyes were burning red with the tears he had stuffed in them not freeing them. He was a cautious man, he would never let anyone see him being vulnerable, he had learned this art of hiding his sadness years ago. Clutching his hands into tight fists he leaned closer to the head which showed his newborn son's face as he whispered solemnly only for him to hear."Farewell, my champ." No one heard him, not even the woman s

Rory was always respectful towards his boss despite Karl's disliking towards him for some unknown reasons, but this was the first time when he actually behaved and stared at his boss like he was some kind of a pest he wanted to crush under his foot."Dead?" He whispered in astonishment, how could it be? He still remember he had seen her just yesterday, she was all good and healthy maybe a little tired but he had watched her sitting in the car and leaving the venue before he went out of the city for some urgent work."It's impossible!" He rasped not wanting to believe what he had just told him, he had his every enemy on leash, he knew no one would dare to attack his wife, there was no one to harm her then how?"I got her call in the middle of the night," Rory told him everything, he might had exaggerated a few things just to spite this ma

  • The Divorce, He Denied.    Chapter-3

Kathryn's PovAfter sleeping for another few hours, the very first view I got after waking up was Rory sitting on the couch with his head resting on his fisted hand, he was fast asleep. My heart thumped in guilt watching him trying to gather a little sleep in such a painful position. He had been here with me from yesterday and haven't left even for a second, God knows if he even had eaten anything or not like me.Just when I held my body up to sit up, a small hiss escaped my lips at an electric sting I felt on my hand making my attention to divert towards it. After sitting up against the pillow my eyes paused over the shining ring still cradled in my finger, it was quiet surprising that the doctors didn't remove it or maybe they slipped it in my finger after the surgery۔ I never felt burdened over this ring in my whole two years before in this marriage the way I was feeling right now. It felt like something bitter stuck in my throat and wasn't ready to slip down. My hand felt numb, I

It hurt so damn much! My eyes shot up ignoring the strike of pain erupting in my head increasing the ache in it due to the blinding lights filling the room. My eyes didn't care to look around and was stopped right before my flat stomach, my breathing paused and heart jumped against my chest terribly when the realization slowly started seeping in me even though I wanted to deny it.I was in a hospital
