He found the truth too late, She had been living it alone all along.

Author's Pov

Karl walked inside the place where Rory asked him to come, his tired red eyes covered with shades fell on the woman kneeling on the floor in front of a small casket, his heart instantly restricted at the sight before he let his heavy steps near them. As expected his wife was crying while laying her head on the closed head of the casket, his little son was trapped in it and there was nothing he could do to bring him out.

There was a massive reason why Karl wore shades in such an occasion, his eyes were burning red with the tears he had stuffed in them not freeing them. He was a cautious man, he would never let anyone see him being vulnerable, he had learned this art of hiding his sadness years ago. Clutching his hands into tight fists he leaned closer to the head which showed his newborn son's face as he whispered solemnly only for him to hear.

"Farewell, my champ." No one heard him, not even the woman seated beside the casket with her eyes closed and body leaned over it.

Karl never expressed or showed that he actually cared about their son, he had the reasons but he knew even his explanation wouldn't excused his lack of attention towards his family. Karl had never regretted anything in his life till this moment, he thought he had achieved everything in his life he ever wanted and was striving to go further up but at this moment he realised he had lost a piece of himself.

A tear trickled down his eye fall on his shades not letting it come to display for anyone to see that the ruthless Karl Salazar cared, he did care and love his son but as always he kept everything inside him stepping away gulping his tears back. His eyes finally got stuck over his wife who hadn't eaten anything from yesterday.

Soon enough the funeral ended and Karl stepped forward to hold the casket, but his body stiffened when Kathryn blocked his way shaking her head, "You can't touch him!" His body burned in anger as he wanted to protest with her, he knew her fury towards him was justified but she still had no right to deprive him of being his son's father for the last time.

"I am his father, Kathryn, you can do whatever you want but I have this right." Kathryn so wanted to throw all the neglect and lack of fatherly behaviour from him during her pregnancy at his face but she knew Karl wasn't wrong as well, he unfortunately was the father and his neglect couldn't justify her resentment of him not letting him hold her son's casket.

She felt a palm on her shoulder and she knew who it was, the only woman who was actually kind to her in Salazar's family. Claire Salazar, sister of Karl, Kathryn's sister in law who seemed both confused yet not wanting to bring more attention towards their family she decided to calm her down as she knew how stubborn Karl was.

"Kath, let him," Kathryn didn't want to ruin her son's last moments and finally slumping her shoulders down she glared at her namesake husband taking him aback at her hateful sneer before she again turned towards her son and giving his casket a last longing caress she stepped away letting Claire engulf her in a warm hug.

Karl and Rory held the casket on their shoulders as they walked out leaving the crying mother behind. Claire kissed Kathryn's head while shedding tears too, she had never seen this beautiful woman this broken and vulnerable before. Claire always preferred Kathryn because of her calm nature, maturity and kindness. She knew her brother would lead a happy life with Kathryn but what she never thought was, will Kathryn be happy with a man like Karl?

Karl had many scars imprinted on his soul from past, he might be the tough ruthless man but only Claire knew why she wanted Kathryn in his life. She thought maybe just maybe he would be able to let his wounds heal and lead a good life with Kathryn but after seeing the pain and hatred in her sister in law's eyes for him, she dreaded the possibility of him losing one good thing happened to him.

Claire took Kathryn back and made her lay on the bed before she caressed her head, her eyes saddened before more as he watched the sleeping woman whimpering even in her sleep. Kathryn didn't want to go back to the room where she lost her son, and even Karl banned everyone's entrance in that room as he was investigated what had happened that night, everyone thought it was a miscarriage even Claire but Karl seemed to not believe it.

The door of the room suddenly parted revealing a familiar face which stiffened Claire for a few seconds, "Darling, we have to leave," She gulped standing up, before shooting a concerned gaze towards Kathryn.

"I really want to stay with her for at least one day, she needs a support right now." Claire opposed her husband's words for the first time which seemed to tick him off as he shot her a displeased look.

"Claire, your brother is here for his wife, you have your own house to take care of, now let's go, we have our flight in an hour." She bit her tongue to not argue further as she knew it was of no use. She sighed dejectedly before placing a soft kiss over Kathryn's forehead and left to meet her brother.

He was in his office talking to his Secretary, "Ma'am," Greg nodded in acknowledgement before taking his leave.

Claire turned to her brother who finally dared to show his red eyes, "What have you done to her?" Karl sighed shaking his head.

"Not you too Claire, I haven't done anything! I am already feeling really guilty for not attending her calls that night, no more." Claire mimicked his sighing before she walked near his table watching him with clear eyes.

"Kathryn seemed to be really different this time, I had seen her being mad at you before, but I had never seen such a look in her eyes for you before, you really need to be careful with her," Karl looked at her with his deep emerald eyes, redness lining under his eyes as he swallowed hard.

"You're thinking too much, I know my wife well, she's angry, a little more than usual, she will calm down and come around soon. Don't worry and go back. I know how to handle her." He confidently muttered which eased Claire a bit as she knew no matter how many arguments they both had they always ended up reconciling.

"Alright, I trust you." With that she leaned down and hugged him which her brother reciprocated with a gentle pat on her back.

"Please brother, don't lose her, she's a gem and I don’t want you to regret." Claire whispered in his ear tensing the man for a few seconds but finally he chuckled patting her head.

"I wouldn't lose her, she's my wife, remember, she's just angry right now." He assured her one more time and Claire finally left the office and the moment the door closed, his eyes dimmed and smile tugged away as they again trailed back to his laptop. He opened the screen and again let the truth torment him badly.

I don't feel comfortable around Every.

Karl, I don't feel save with them being around, please listen to me for once.

He had his doubts but he knew if Kathryn's claims became real he would be drowned in regret, and that what happened when Greg came to him with the truth. No one knew about him installing cameras in the mansion not even Kathryn, every room in his house had cameras and he installed them after his marriage with Kathryn, he had his own reasons, maybe some weird sick reasons but he installed them mainly for her protection.

Everyone assumed that mansion was secured enough and nothing would happen there even Greg told him let the house as it was but he wanted to double check the security, but he never thought he would invite the danger himself, he let the enemy in, he let his wife feel unsafe in her own house and he let them attack her when no one would be able to save her.

Everything was clear, the footage made it clear to him, and the beast in him was itching to claw at the culprit who snatched their son from them. He would be damned if he gave the bitch an easy way out, he wasn't named the underworld Don of Germany without a reason, he had saved his country from getting ruined in Russian and Italians hands years back single handedly, if he could tame those feral wolves then this fucking insect needed to see what she has awakened by touching his wife.

Karl Salazar's wife.

"Every Lee, fucking bitch! I am going to skin you alive!" He promised slamming the laptop shut as the images of the whole ordeal made him sicker to his stomach especially the sight of his wife crying and laying on her own pool of blood.

But the regret deepened in his heart when he realised in the footage it wasn't him who gave her a hope to live, it was another man.

I couldn't sleep, each time I tried closing my eyes I could see my son, my husband's indifference and my own bloody form. I had no idea until when I would actually be able to close my eyes like before and sleep the night away. My heart was crumbling and soul wrenching each time I thought about the tiny frame I held for the first time in my arms but it was nothing like I imagined. He didn't open his eyes, he didn't smile, he didn't even make a slightest noise. He just left me, without a single noise, look and touch.I never thought the motherhood I craved for years would be snatched away from me this viciously, what was even my fault? Just because I was married to Karl Salazar, the man she was obsessed with, was it really my fault that? Yes, everyone already knew who was the cu

Author's PovKarl's whole body went numb after hearing the cold response from Rory who had never before even dared to raise his head in front of him. Rory was always respectful towards his boss despite Karl's disliking towards him for some unknown reasons, but this was the first time when he actually behaved and stared at his boss like he was some kind of a pest he wanted to crush under his foot."Dead?" He whispered in astonishment, how could it be? He still remember he had seen her just yesterday, she was all good and healthy maybe a little tired but he had watched her sitting in the car and leaving the venue before he went out of the city for some urgent work."It's impossible!" He rasped not wanting to believe what he had just told him, he had his every enemy on leash, he knew no one would dare to attack his wife, there was no one to harm her then how?"I got her call in the middle of the night," Rory told him everything, he might had exaggerated a few things just to spite this ma

Kathryn's PovAfter sleeping for another few hours, the very first view I got after waking up was Rory sitting on the couch with his head resting on his fisted hand, he was fast asleep. My heart thumped in guilt watching him trying to gather a little sleep in such a painful position. He had been here with me from yesterday and haven't left even for a second, God knows if he even had eaten anything or not like me.Just when I held my body up to sit up, a small hiss escaped my lips at an electric sting I felt on my hand making my attention to divert towards it. After sitting up against the pillow my eyes paused over the shining ring still cradled in my finger, it was quiet surprising that the doctors didn't remove it or maybe they slipped it in my finger after the surgery۔ I never felt burdened over this ring in my whole two years before in this marriage the way I was feeling right now. It felt like something bitter stuck in my throat and wasn't ready to slip down. My hand felt numb, I

It hurt so damn much! My eyes shot up ignoring the strike of pain erupting in my head increasing the ache in it due to the blinding lights filling the room. My eyes didn't care to look around and was stopped right before my flat stomach, my breathing paused and heart jumped against my chest terribly when the realization slowly started seeping in me even though I wanted to deny it.I was in a hospital
