Chapter 4

Author: Moore
I read Nina's messages over and over again, but I did not reply. I just silently put down my phone.

So tomorrow was their wedding. It was no wonder Dante had not come home these past few days or sent me any messages.

However, it no longer mattered. Tomorrow was the day my new identity would take effect, and my future would no longer be tied to Dante.

The next day, as dawn was breaking, I dragged my suitcase and left the home I had lived in for five years.

I went to the city hall to complete the final step of my identity change. The staff member handed me my new documents with a bright smile.

"Congratulations on starting your new life!"

I took the new passport and immediately booked the nearest available flight, then took a cab straight to the airport.

In the cab, I removed my canceled SIM card and threw it out the window. Then I deleted all of Lily's social media accounts.

From now on, I was no longer Lily. My name was Anna Louise.

Dante had not been at peace these past few days. To appease Nina, he had turned off his phone and given it to her.

"I'm giving you my phone. I'll stay here with you until the wedding. Just focus on being the bride."

However, privately, he left a message for his assistant, Charles Silvana.

"Help me tell Lily I'm okay. Just tell her I have to go on a business trip for a few days and I'll be back later."

When Charles received the message, he looked helplessly at Nina beside him, who snatched his phone away and threatened him.

"I'm the woman Dante legally married. That mistress will leave sooner or later. Are you going to offend me for her sake?"

Charles did not dare disobey, so he could only heed Nina’s words and did not pass along any message to me.

On the wedding day, Dante was even more restless.

"Darling, the wedding's about to start. Come over here!"

Nina kept calling for Dante. After hesitating for a moment, he contacted his assistant again.

"After you told Lily, did she reply?"

Charles stammered, unable to answer properly. Dante immediately became suspicious.

"You didn't contact Lily?"

The young assistant was so scared he nearly cried.

"Mrs. Pierce wouldn't let me contact her. She said Ms. Jensen was your mistress and that she'd leave after you two got married."

Dante flew into a fit of rage.

"Are you out of your mind? How could Lily be my mistress? She's my wife and she's carrying my child! You disobeyed my orders! You're fired!"

He suddenly thought of something and angrily ran to find Nina. At that moment, Nina was still dreaming of becoming the Don's wife, but the next second Dante had his hand around her throat.

"Why did you call Lily a mistress? What did you say to her?"

Tears immediately streamed down Nina's face.

"Dante, what do you take me for? Today is our wedding, and yet you're still defending another woman?"

Dante froze, his expression gradually softening.

"That's not what I meant, but Lily is innocent. She's been with me for five years. She's not some mistress."

Nina wiped away her tears and gently leaned against Dante's shoulder.

"I know she's been good to you and that she's pregnant now. You only married me to help me, but I don't mind. I'll try to get along with her peacefully."

Dante nodded with relief, not noticing the malicious glint in Nina's eyes.

"It's best that you think that way. Give me back my phone. I want to prepare a gift for Lily, then we can continue with the wedding."

He dialed my number, only to discover unexpectedly that my number was out of service.

Dante's heart jumped with alarm. An ominous feeling filled his heart and he immediately called the villa's butler, Caleb Henderson.

"Where's Lily? Get her on the phone now!"

However, Caleb's answer made his blood run cold.

"The security footage showed that Ms. Jensen left with her luggage early this morning and still hasn't returned."

Dante was in disbelief, but he quickly calmed down and made several phone calls in quick succession.

"Check all transportation records for any registrations under Lily's name."

Without exception, they all came up empty. Finally, a friend who worked at the city hall called him back.

"Don Pierce, all records under Lily Jensen have been permanently erased. She's completely off the grid now."

The reason they had not performed surgery immediately was because they were waiting for Dante to sign the papers. What had he been doing at that time? Why had he not answered the phone? He suddenly remembered that at the time, to appease the injured Nina, he had personally turned off his phone.Nina had said to him, "I know I can't really have you, but we're about to hold our wedding ceremony. Could you stay with me for a few days? During these few days, you'll belong completely to me!"He had willingly handed over his phone without even saying a word to me. He had not known that during the time he surrendered his phone, I was fighting for my life!Dante masochistically replayed the video over and over again. Each time he watched it, his shoulders sagged a little more.He realized how desperate I must have been at that time, especially when he finally heard me say, "Let me sign it myself. I... don't have any relatives or family members anymore."It completely destroyed Dante."

That day in the greenhouse, he had spoken in Italian with his friend Harvey right in front of me. A terrible premonition arose in his heart."Did Lily ever learn Italian?"Dante suddenly called for Caleb, asking this question with deep unease.Seeing his somewhat frantic expression, Caleb spoke carefully, "Ms. Jensen has been studying the common mafia languages for years. She even hired private tutors. Didn't you know, sir?"With a buzzing sound, the last thread of composure in his mind snapped completely. He realized that I had understood their conversation at the time!I had known early on that he and Nina had gotten their marriage certificate, and that he planned to keep it a secret from me along with everyone else.Dante panicked. He had originally thought that he could hide it well, and that he could manage both Nina and me.He thought he had been careful. As for Nina, she was just an old obsession. He resented her for leaving with another man and had been almost obsessivel

Speaking of this, resentment began to build in Dante's heart."Just because I didn't reply her messages on time, she’s caused such a huge mess. Let's see how long she can survive out there without any legal identity!"A flash of joy crossed Nina's eyes, though she still pretended to advise him on the surface."She's still pregnant. Isn't it wrong not to go looking for her and bring her back? Maybe she's still nearby waiting for you to find and coax her!"Dante said with anger written all over his face, "After pulling a stunt like this, she should learn her lesson. I won't care about her anymore unless she comes back and apologizes!"Then, he looked at Nina. "You missed the wedding ceremony because of her. I'll make it up to you right now. This time I'll give you an even grander one."Since they had previously needed to keep it secret, their wedding had been very low-key. Aside from a few close friends, hardly anyone knew about it.This time, Dante sent invitations to every mafia

Dante could not believe his ears."When did this happen?""She filed the paperwork seven days ago. Her legal identity was officially erased today.""Do you have her current information? I need to know where she is!""Sorry, once someone goes through the identity erasure process, there's no way to trace them. She's completely off the books."Dante's body trembled as an overwhelming sense of panic consumed him. He now knew I was leaving him and that I had started planning it seven days ago.He deeply regretted giving his phone to Nina. His silence must have disappointed me enough to make me leave.Dante frantically ran outside. As he opened the car door, Nina followed him. Before Dante could send her away, she took the initiative to apologize."I'm sorry. It must be because of my selfishness in hiding your phone that made Lily angry. I'll come with you to find her. When we do, I'll explain everything to her and apologize personally. If she won't forgive me, I'll get on my knees u

Fury twisted Dante's features as he pinned those men who had harassed Nina to the ground, punching them again and again until they had no strength to fight back.Screams echoed throughout the auction hall, and everything was in complete chaos."We're sorry, Don Pierce! We won't dare do it again! Please have mercy on us!"The men knelt on the ground begging for forgiveness, blood streaming down their faces. Dante looked at them coldly. "Get out of here! If you ever dare appear in front of her again, I'll destroy you!"I fearfully protected my belly, carefully moving toward Dante's direction, but he did not notice my existence at all. He bent down to help Nina up."Are you hurt?"Nina cried as she threw herself into his arms. "I twisted my ankle. I can't move..."Dante's face darkened as he swept Nina up into his arms and headed straight for the exit. Before I could react, he knocked me to the ground, my lower back slamming against the steps. The sharp pain shooting through my
