MARKO

“How long do I have left? And are all the members of the society present at the venue already?” I questioned putting on my watch as Piero scrolled on the tab before humming.

“They're all present and waiting for the meeting.” I nodded poker faced, in satisfaction.

“Boss, we have a problem.” I looked up to meet Dante's eyes who had just walked into the room looking like he got into a street fight and I raised my brows.

“I have a meeting in less than an hour, Dante and I'm already dealing with a lot of shit. If there's a problem, fix it.” I ordered tightening my jaw as I grabbed my keys and there it over to Piero who caught it in time.

“It's about your wife, boss.” He muttered blinking repeatedly and I grunted spinning to face him.

“Giovanna? Make it quick.” I raised a brow as he swallowed repeatedly before continuing.

“She refused to come home with us as you ordered, matter of fact, she was violent and did this.” He pointed to his torn shirt and I squinted my eyes in disbelief and astonishment.

She behaves like a fucking Kitten and is surely is unpredictable. I had given her 2 days to process her feelings but right now, she had to be here, with me, in my house!

After all it was fair enough to keep friends close but enemies way closer.

“I don't think that's the only issue we have on hand right now.” Piero stated adjusting his glasses while looking up at us.

“Apparently, she's booked a flight out of the country and is currently preparing to leave.” I slammed my hand on the table grunting and clenching my fist in utter disgust.

I had thought I was doing myself one but right now, this kitten was stressing me the hell out.

“She posted on her social media that if you can get her then try stopping her just now.” I clenched my fist looking at my watch for the hundredth time today.

Well, let's fulfill that wish Gattina.

“We're going over to her house first, I have less than 30 minutes to get to the meeting so make sure you're all there before I get there.” I ordered snatching the keys from Pierro.

“And moreover, cancel her goddamn flight.” I ordered as I got in the car and zoomed off.

In less than 10 minutes, I was already driving into their driveway when I spotted her packing some bags into a car and slamming the booth as she went back inside probably to get more things.

Davvero vivace, che noia.

She was about to go into her car when I tapped her shoulders slightly and she spun around immediately.

“Going somewhere, Gattina?” I questioned and the shock registered on her face was priceless.

“How….er..how did you get in here?” She asked, her hands tightly holding on the handle of the door.

“That wasn't the answer to my question but I am a little busy wanting to know so get in my car, Giovanna.” I ordered, folding the sleeves of my shirt up and I saw hesitation in her eyes.

“No! No, I only agreed to the marriage because I thought you were being truthful. I already told your guards, I'm not going anywhere with you.” She said, closing the door softly as her hands jittered in fear while I took some steps closer.

“That's where you get it wrong, Gattina. I always tell the truth even when I lie now get in my car. I'm currently pissed and you wouldn't want me to get more pissed.” I stated, glancing at my watch.

I don't have enough time and fuck it, even as a leader, I hated been late to meetings that i scheduled.

“Could you at least try to be nice and stop yelling at me? I'm the one entitled to be angry, young man. I didn't even know you, I didn't—” I placed my hands on the car, right above her head and sighed.

“Your house is empty, your father isn't home and you're still breathing whilst wasting my time. That's me being fucking nice.” She was about saying something else but I had already had enough of it.

I wrapped my arms around her waist and hurled her up onto my shoulders as I strode back to my car.

“Let. Me. Down. You. Fucker.” She yelled, through gritted teeth while digging her fingers into my skin as she wiggled.

“Make sure you draw blood though I feel bad for you. You might ruin your perfectly manicured nails.” I opened the back seat of my car and threw her in, locked it and got into the passenger seat.

“I don't want to do this anymore, can't you consider that at least? I can compensate you. How much do you want?” She was all talk and all it helped in doing was infuriating me.

I glanced at my watch and I had about 13 minutes to get to the venue, courtesy of the Gattina at my back seat.

I wanted to drive her back home but that would only take 10 minutes more of my time, I cluttered my teeth realizing I was in a little bit of a hook.

I can't take her to the meeting, that would mean divulging too much information about myself to her and moreover more problems for me to deal with.

I kept driving as she kept yelling and screaming all sorts of insults but my brain filtered all those out.

I had important matters to deal with.

“Where the fuck are you taking me?” She yelled, I was almost at the club where the meeting was to take place.

Well, the club was just a facade, the underground was where the meeting would be held so I'll guess I'll let her stay at the club with eyes watching her for sure.

“Stay quiet, Gattina. You'll find out soon enough.” I muttered, pulling into the venue.

Opening the car door, she stepped out looking at me with confusion in her eyes.

“A club? You're bringing me to a club dressed like this? First of all, what makes you think a club is my kind of scene?” I held her by the wrist and pulled her alongside me.

“You'll have to make it your scene for this night, Gattina,” We got in and the music was loud and buzzing, “Welcome to the late night Circus.” I turned to face her when I felt her grip tighten on my hand as I tried to let go.

Raven De Cattaneo

Hí everyone. Big thanks to all reading this book, dont forget to leave a review. Also, the word 'Gattina' was used to refer to the FL a lot of times and I thought to explain. The male lead is Italian and refers to the female lead as a cat which is GATTINA in Italian tongue. Keep shining 🦋

I ran out before I even realized my legs were moving. The house door slammed behind me so hard that I was shaken as well. Air hit my face, sharp, cool, and for a second I just stood there, hands pressed over my mouth like I could stop the words from spilling out of me if I held my lips shut hard enough. “Lieing bastard!" I cursed. He hadn’t denied it. He hadn’t even tried. That fact felt like a stone in my chest that wouldn’t move. I kept replaying what I’d heard in my head, the sound of his voice, the way his eyes went flat when I said what I’d seen. It should have been a relief, proof, confirmation, something to act on, but it wasn’t. It made everything worse. “But I don't know what to do." I thought. I made myself walk without direction, my feet taking me down the little lane by the sea where the waves sounded distant and steady. The world around me looked normal: dogs barking, a scooter passing, a woman han

MARKO I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. Her words hit me like a punch to the gut, and for a moment, I just stood there, frozen, my brain struggling to catch up. Giovanna had never spoken to me like this before, never confronted me so directly. She was upset, yes, but this was different. She wasn’t just upset. She was questioning everything I’d told her. Everything we’d built. “What happened to her? When did she even get the feeling I was a bad man? Why was she suddenly…” I had no idea why she would say something like that. I thought everything was fine between us. We’d been together for a long time now, and despite the ups and downs, I’d always tried to protect her. Tried to keep her out of the mess that was my life. But this? This was something else. “Marko,” she said again, her voice trembling. “You aren’t who you say you are. That’s why we go for all these meetings, and you being away on business trips means you ki

  • The Don's Prey    I Love Him.

Giovanna The day at Belle’s villa had stretched longer than I expected. The place was beautiful, almost like a dream, high ceilings, soft curtains blowing in the breeze, and a terrace overlooking the ocean. I thought being here would make me relax, but it didn’t. Something about Belle was… different. All day, she kept circling back to one topic: Marko. “So,” Belle said, setting down a tray of drinks between us. “Tell me more about Marko.” I blinked at her, holding the glass she had just handed me. “Why do you keep asking about him?” I tried to sound light, but my voice came out sharper than I wanted. Belle gave me a smile that didn’t quite reach her eyes. “Because he’s interesting,” she said simply. “Men like him usually are.” I frowned, swirling the drink in my hand. “Do you know him?” Belle hesitated for a moment before nodding. “Yes,” she said quietly. “I know who M

  • The Don's Prey    Who Are You?

Marko I was sitting at the kitchen table, the soft hum of the island outside filtering through the window. I’d just finished my coffee, but the day felt like it was dragging. My mind kept racing through all the things I needed to do, but there was no urgency. Things were good on the business front, but something felt off. I couldn’t quite put my finger on it. The phone buzzed on the table in front of me, pulling me from my thoughts. I glanced at the screen and saw Piero’s name. I didn’t hesitate. Piero never called unless it was important, and I knew this conversation wouldn’t be an exception. I swiped to answer, holding the phone to my ear. “Yeah?” “Marko,” Piero’s voice came through, steady and firm. “We’ve got some news on the buyer front. I think we might have a solid lead.” I leaned back in my chair, setting the phone against my ear. “That’s good. We need to keep the momentum going. What

CLAUDIA I needed a break. I needed to do something. The last few days had felt like a train, too many conversations I wasn’t ready to have, too many lies to keep track of, and too much tension in the air. My nerves were shaking, and I just wanted to get out of the apartment, even if it was only for a little while. So, I decided to go out. Have a little fun. Get some fresh air. Maybe grab a drink at that bar everyone had been talking about. A change of scenery could help me clear my head. No more thinking about Alessandro, Piero, or Marko anything else that made my chest tight. I slipped into a black dress that hugged me just right, simple but enough to make me feel like I wasn’t drowning in my own life for once. A little makeup, some loose waves in my hair, and I was ready to go. I told myself I’d just have one drink, relax for a bit, then head back and deal with whatever I had to face. The bar was busy but not packed, the

Giovanna I was nervous. Not in the way I was when I first arrived at this island, not in the way I felt when I left everything behind to come here with Marko. That had been different uncertainty mingled with excitement, like walking into a new chapter without knowing what the next page would say. But today? Today was different. I was nervous because I didn’t really know what I was walking into. It had been a long day. The morning had been spent wrapped up in my thoughts, trying to settle into this strange new place and figure out exactly what I wanted out of this whole adventure. And now, Belle. I barely knew her, but she had invited me to her villa, and after a bit of convincing, I agreed to come. Maybe I could use a friend, even if it was just for a few hours. I stepped off the car and onto the cobbled path that led to the villa. The villa itself looked like something out of a dream white stone walls and a sprawling gard
