39-The Journey Begins

Layla’s POV:

Amanda begins to go over what procedures I will be undergoing tomorrow and we work together all afternoon on everything from baby names to a birthing plan. I was nervous and scared as my thoughts raced with all the information I had discovered in the few short hours I was awake but a sense of peace also lingered in my chest that I couldn’t explain.

The next morning came quicker than I had intended and Nicolae took some time away from working to escort me to the doctor Amanda had found. Once the initial check up was complete I was rushed into a dark room where the doctor began to measure our baby. They told us it was still too early to detect a heartbeat and suggested that I come back in two weeks time. Nicolae and I agreed and after we had our next appointment we phased back to the underworld and began to prepare for our trip.

Lorie was not excited about us leaving but I assured her I would return whenever I could to see her between the meetings. She reluctantly agreed
