Begging for Marriage

Mariana Rose

Both lying on the ground, my head is resting stiffly against his chest watching the bright moon above us. My head is racing with crazy thoughts about this new development because it never occurred to me that Glenda was romantically linked to this wolf. If I knew, then I would have never agreed with Empress to take on this identity.

“Jezebel is going to marry you to another man but I am not going to let that happen,” he said while stroking my bare shoulder with his hard fingers. “You are only mine, Glenda. No other man can take you away from me.”

He hoisted me up and sat me down on his lap possessively, the desire in his eyes is still generously lit.

“After I complete the succession and I become the true alpha of our pack, I will announce to the world that I will take you as my luna. I don’t have to act indifferent in front of you anymore. We don’t have to meet each other in secret anymore. I could kiss you freely and I could take you to bed anytime we both wanted.”

I clenched my knuckles into a fist when I remembered Evan. He promised me the same thing but look where that took me.

I could have rotted in the prison forever while he spent his days as the alpha of his pack with his beautiful luna. Oh, how foolish I am to be played like this!

“Can you do that for us? Please, be patient. I only need a few months, Glenda.”

More than the hard thing poking on my leg, I felt the pang of pain piercing through me when I remembered that this is the same thing that Evan promised me to which he drastically broke.

“Of course,” I replied, forcing out a smile for him. “I am only yours. I could wait for you forever, Alpha Rozen,” I lied through my teeth as our lips met.

But I never thought that I would easily break that promise so soon when Jezebel fetched me that morning for a dress fitting for my mating ceremony.

It is a ceremony where I would be seen in public with my soon-to-be husband which is something that I have never experienced with Evan.

I can only grit my teeth at the thought.

Despite the firm refusal of Rozen about the marriage, Jezebel is still pushing for the wedding although I already have a plan in my head.

“Make sure the cut of her dress is conservative. My soon-to-be son-in-law prefers her women that way.”

She threw me a sharp look from head to toe squinting judgingly at the low-cut neck of my dress.

“You look like a hooker beta in your clothes! How can you gain the respect of your husband if he sees you like that?!”

I just kept my voice inside. No need to lash at her at this point. As what Empress told me, Glenda is a goody two shoes when it comes to her stepmother.

Jezebel decided that it’s best for me to wear that turtle neck below the knee dress. She did not ask for my opinion, gobbling that it was her perfect machinations that brought me a perfect mate and husband.

“Who is the man I am going to marry, mom?” I asked in curiosity when we were in the car back to the mansion.

Narrowing her eyes at me, she de-clawed her fingernails while wearing a suspicious look on her face.  “You know him. You’ve been with him countless times. If you did not run away like the coward and foolish that you are, then he could have married you instead of that woman. Good thing his bride died and his father is pushing for the alliance once again.”

My heart almost popped out of its cage when something crossed my mind while waiting for her to confirm my hunch.

Don’t tell me that… Could it be that…

No! I shuddered at the thought. That should not be!

“Victor Phillips lost his luna making his claim on his alpha-ship in his pack to be fickle and weak,” Jezebel confirmed my dreaded silent thought. “He needs a luna right now and who could be more perfect than you, Glenda. Finding his second-chance mate does not matter to him anymore since he lost the love of his life in a crime which is the best thing that had ever happened!”

With a grin on the side of her overly red lips, she pulled at the strand of my hair making me wince not in physical pain but of how twisted the fate takes me to. “He needs baby pups to be an alpha and you will give him a dozen. You will be his babymaker, Glenda.”

I ignored her rejoicing voice hearing nothing but the drum rolls from my heart. Glenda is supposed to marry Victor Phillips. I am going to marry the man who ordered to torture me inside the prison because he thought I killed his luna.

“W-What’s his name again?” I asked not for clarification but to slap myself so I could wake up from the shock.

“Have you gone deaf? Did you lose your mind? How can you forget the man I picked for you?!”

She seized my chin and forced me to look into her wolf eyes. “You like Victor. You even go out with him a couple of times. You can tolerate him so I want you to tell the alpha that you are agreeing with the marriage. We need him. I need you out of Rozen because you keep on distracting him.”

I scoffed hearing that. She knows about the relationship after all!

Seeing the shock on my face, Jezebel sneered. “Do you really think I don’t know what’s happening between the two of you? He doesn't love you, Glenda. He is just using you too. Everyone knows that Rozen only loved one woman. He is still wishing to the moon goddess that his first mate would be back. He is just using you as his sperm-catcher to humiliate our pack even further!”

“And what if I don’t? What will you do?” I whispered amidst the swirling thoughts in my head.

Jezebel growled, her long nails digging into my flesh. “I will kill your wolf that I took hostage with. You will never be a real werewolf without your wolf. You can never shift. You will forever be mocked by your kin. You can never find your mate anymore and no man will ever want to marry you.”

Satisfaction passed her expression when she saw me speechless. Twisting my hand in her, she left me with a resounding threat.

“Now if you still refuse this marriage then I am going to expose your affair with the alpha, with your own brother and I will give you to another alpha as his breeder to punish you so if I were you, I should just agree right now.”

“And who could that be?” I found my voice this time.

“Victor Phillips’ best friend. Alpha Evan Hugh.”

The name unnerved me instantly. It shook me to the core until we reached the mansion. Gasping, I pushed her away and ran out of the car only to bump with someone on the way inside.

Alpha Rozen was quick to hold my body to steady my balance.

“Alpha Rozen!” Jezebel exclaimed anxiously, her eyes warning me not to spill anything.

Rozen must have noticed the uncertainty in my demeanor as he ticked his jaws, his eyes focusing on me.

“Tell me what happened,” he demanded right away.

I gulped debating what to do next.

“What is it, Glenda? Do not keep the alpha waiting like this!” Drake chimed in when I remained silent.

Rozen’s hand around my waist felt heavier than ever.

“Come on, Glenda. Tell the alpha that you agreed already,” Jezebel urged me with a tinge of fear in her voice.

“Agreed on what,” Rozen’s hard voice startled me.

“Come on, my princess. Don’t be shy. He is your brother. Besides, he will know this sooner or later because he is the alpha,” Drake assured me. “Has Jezebel been maltreating you again?”

“What?! Maltreating Glenda?! I would never do that to our sweet baby wolf!” she reacted violently and stepped forwards towards only to be stopped by the daggers of look Rozen is sending her.

“Tell me what’s wrong, Glenda. Come on,” Rozen whispered in my ears softly shedding the thick voice he used.

This is my chance.

I clenched my hands as my father’s face and my whole pack remained in my head. I will make Evan pay for what he did to me and to my pack!

But before I could do that, I had to use or manipulate this vicious man towering over me.

Victor Phillips is my bridge to Evan. In order for me to have my revenge, I must get close to him then!

“Alpha Rozen…” I looked at Jezebel shaking her head and then back to Rozen before sinking into my knees.

“Please let me marry Victor Phillips!” I begged him. “Alpha Rozen, I want to marry Victor Phillips!”

  • The Ex-Convict Luna is Back   The Devil’s Smile

Mariana’s POVThe days felt like months and years. Being locked up in the basement reminiscent of when I was confined in that hell of a prison is certainly not what I thought would happen when I made up the plan in my head. I imagined freedom, vengeance, maybe even peace. Not this. Not chains and silence. It’s been two days now and Rozen hasn’t visited me ever since.Nirvana is restless inside clawing at me wanting me to manifest it into my form. But the second I do that will be the moment that I confess to the world that I am not Glenda Ricks. I will be back as Mariana Rose, the murderer.I will never go back, not until I get my justice, not until I crush Evan in my own hands. The huge metal door clung with a key being inserted and seconds after, two wolf guards entered my cell and dragged me forward into the secret door that leads directly to Rozen’s office. He was sitting on his desk, his hand twirling his glass of whiskey.By the time we entered, my knees were trembling because I

  • The Ex-Convict Luna is Back   Prison of Lies

Mariana’s POVThe courtyard was still smoking from the barrage of fights happening when the last of the assassins fell. My arms were shaking, blood running down my forearm, the metallic scent of blood spilled on the whole floor of the mansion thick in the air. My eyes are turned wolf just like Victor and Rozen. They prevented themselves from staying in their shifted forms for so long, cautious that they would go feral. On the yard, Justin successfully curbed the other assassins.Gasping, I met the eyes of my mate who got a big wide grin in his mouth seeing me holding the decapitated head of a rogue wolf assassin.I smiled back thinking to myself that it was all over only to spot another assassin crawling from underneath the shadows, breathing heavily from his wounds while clutching his blade like it’s his lifeline. His eyes met mine, wild and burning with something close to triumph. “You are a traitor! You should be killed now, Mariana Rose.”My heart dropped not because of the impend

  • The Ex-Convict Luna is Back   The Name that Burns

Mariana’s POV“What the hell are you talking about?” Victor’s voice cut through the smoke as he leapt onto the second floor, landing hard on the bloodstained tiles where Rozen and I stood among the corpses of the killed assassins. “Your mate? Your claim is as absurd as you! She’s your sister! I’m here to take my wife home, Rozen!”The word wife slapped me hard on the face. I was so engrossed with all that was happening that I almost forgot that I married Victor.Rozen didn’t flinch in the face of a furious alpha. “She was never yours, Victor. You were just the chain keeping her tied.”Victor snarled and closed the distance before seizing my wrist. “You’re coming with me before your brother’s enemies kill you for real. He can’t protect you here, Glenda.”Rozen pushed Victor back, hiding me behind him. “You’re not listening, Victor. I already told you that she is my mate and there is no way I am letting her leave with you.”The two alphas stood there, eyes laser-focused, growling at ea

  • The Ex-Convict Luna is Back   Blood in the Moonlight

Mariana’s POV“Mate…” he drawled, his voice rough enough to make me freeze. His eyes glowed gold under the moonlight streaks through the window. The smile on his face and the twinkle in his eyes is palpable as if he finally proved something that will change the course of his life.He had completely forgotten about the wolfsbane dagger and is now looking at me with all the love in his eyes.“I knew right from the very start that you are my mate, Glenda.” He ran a thumb over my plump lips fresh from his wild kissing, excitement written all over his face. “My father was right when he took you in. You are my second chance mate.”I bit my tongue when guilt rushed through me, gnawing every inch of my being. Rozen is too relieved and happy to know that I am his mate when I already know it way way before. Before I could utter a single word, he bridged our distance and kissed me again. It wasn’t gentle. It was wild like fire breaking out of control filled with immense energy. All the pent-up

Mariana’s POVHis voice cut through me like the wolfsbane dagger in my bag that at that very moment, I wanted the earth to split open and swallow me whole. My entire body went cold and numb as he surveyed the dried wound with prying eyes.“M-Mariana Rose?” I whispered stuttering, completely ignoring the way he sniffed the blood in my hands because as much as possible, I still wanted to keep the lie. “Why did you call me that name?”“Where did you get this?” he snarled, referring to the wound in my hand instead of answering my question. My throat closed, then I opened my mouth with yet another lie. “I was out here looking for my necklace that I lost last time when I was here and then I was attacked with rogues.”The words tumbled out so quickly that I thought Rozen would not buy them.“Really?” he asked, prompting me to swallow the growing lump in my throat again.I took a deep sigh concocting yet another lie so I could escape from his trained eyes.“T-They came at me in the woods want

  • The Ex-Convict Luna is Back   The Forbidden Claim

Mariana’s POVMy feet instantly backtracked wanting to escape from my ex-mate’s prying eyes but Rozen’s suspicious stare kept me frozen on the ground. If I suddenly run off, Rozen will definitely think that something is wrong and it will take only a matter of time before he learns everything. He already doubted me before. It will be easier for him to confirm his apprehensions against me.“Alpha Rozen, we now have a lead about the assassin that killed the alpha,” an enforcer said, breaking off the silence in the air.Rozen stared at my face first before turning back and walking away gruffly. The elders together with Jezebel took Drake’s body so it was only me and Evan left in the open. His eyes were staring at me in both a mix of disbelief, longing, and awe.“Mariana, I don’t know what happened, why you have the face of a Silverthorne or how you escaped the jail but, please, do not lie to me.”He crossed our gap and caressed my face. “Our wolves knew each other. We are mates, Mariana.
