Chloe’s POV

We didn't do it out of rage but just habit

There were so many things occupying both our minds though.

Seth and I didn't share a bed that night. Yes we were married. But something colder had long since supplanted love. Not resentment, not even hatred. We were just understanding. We were not in need of love.

We just needed to sort ourselves out of this mess.

Seth took the study and I remained in the master suite. We always performed at our best in that manner, separately and attentively. I was wearing my robe and standing by the window that night gazing at the rolling waves of the ocean in the moonlight.

In one hand, I was holding a cup of black tea and in the other my phone.

A new message had been sent by Vincent:

Weak entry point verified, payroll information base, cleaned it up.

Grinning, I typed a brief response:

Continue. I need Selene's schedule, call logs and upcoming project proposals.

Selene had always enjoyed organizing things on her own. She thought she could brin

Selene’s POV“Are you sure about this Selene?” Ruth asked. Her facial expression showing concern, as she looked at the detailed plan laid out on my office table. “A fake product recall? Is it not a little bit aggressive?.”“Aggression is what Chloe understands,” I replied as my gaze fixed on the mock-up of a press release. “She thrives on chaos and manipulation. We are just giving her a taste of her own medicine.”Leon, ever practical chipped in. “The key is making it just plausible enough. Enough to cause panic. But with enough deniability that we can pull back before it truly damages the market.”“Exactly,” I said with cold smile. “We are not destroying her company outright, at least not yet. We are shaking her foundations. We are making her bleed her sponsors.”The plan was carefully crafted. Ruth, with her unparalleled understanding of media cycles and public relations was the one to carry out the plan. We targeted one of Chloe’s newest and supposedly ‘innovative’ cosmetic lines

Selene’s POVThe office was full of energy this Tuesday morning . I was going through the latest projections for my company which was giving that sense of satisfaction. I was still going through the projections when Ruth’s voice came through the intercom.“Selene, Angela is here. She is asking to see you. She said it’s urgent.”My hand paused over the mouse. Angela. What does she want this time. That name has been nothing but memory ever since I found out she was the one who told Chloe about the proposal I wanted to give those new investors. Which I also confronted her based on my evidence.I just hope she is not here to do anything funny. But a part of me pity towards her. But the same time I saw this as an opportunity.Speaking to Ruth over the intercom “Send her in,” I said. I straightened my posture and my expression settling into a cool unreadable mask.As Angela walked into my office my composure almost faltered. She looked… terrible. Her usually glamorous hair was an eyesore. H

Selene POVIt was a sunny afternoon when I decided to visit my old house. The memories of my old life started coming back to me while driving. The house was just standing there like a ghost home. This is the very place my marriage went down the drain. Where Chloe’s betrayal had first taken root and the beginning of where I lost everything. Though It was smaller than I remembered and the paints on the wall were faded. The gardens, a little overgrown.Parking my car across the street, I just stood there and stared at the house. Everything started coming back to me. The laughter in the kitchen and the quiet evenings Seth and I had by the fireplace. The quality time we had in bed. Everything started coming back all at once. And that stupid belief of mine that I have built something real with Seth which was unbreakable.I saw myself standing in that living room with tears running down my face. Reminiscing on the good time Seth and I had together and the promises made to each other. His un

Seth’s POVThe news anchor’s reports were all in admiration for Selene. As I hurled the remote at the screen, the crack of plastic against glass a pathetic echo of the shattering of my empire. She really thought she had won."She has not won until you are destroyed Seth," Elias Vance drawled from his armchair while adjusting his tie. Vance, the journalistic viper I would paid handsomely to handle my dirty work. He watched me with a glint of detached amusement in his eyes. "The public loves a hero, but they also love a fallen hero even more. Especially when the fall is dramatic." “I want to ruin her. Not just her company, but also her name and reputation. Everything she holds dear.Vance, with a smile “And how do you plan on doing that? We play on her weaknesses. Her past and also her personal vendettas.” Vance picked up a file from my desk filled with manufactured evidence and doctored photos. “We will paint her as reckless and unstable. A vengeful woman who used unethical means t

Selene’s POVToday, my focus had to be razor-sharp. It was the quarterly shareholder meeting, typically a formality but a subtle tension had been building. Leon had warned me of unusual activities –a few unfamiliar names popping up in the shareholder registry. “Keep your guard up Selene,” he advised. With his eyes serious. “Something is fishy.”walking into the grand boardroom, I was met with the usual faces. But scattered among them were a few new ones and their expressions a mix of cold scrutiny and hostility. This was not going to be a routine meeting.I took my place at the head of the table, Ruth and Nina were by my side. Their presence a silent show of solidarity. Leon was stationed in the tech booth ready to handle any technical issues.’“Good morning, everyone,” I began, my voice clear and steady. “Let us go straight to the business of today.”The initial reports went smoothly – financial updates and our expansion plans. Then a man with a sharp, angular face and a perfectly co

Selene’s POVI threw myself into working late nights, fueled by coffee and a fierce determination. Leon and Nina were around to help and their loyalty were unimaginable.“The pitch for the global expansion fund is tomorrow,” Ruth said to me while bringing me back to reality. Her voice filled with excitement . “This is it, Selene. The big leagues.”I nodded as I reviewed the projections for the last time. “I know. We need a lead investor who understands our vision, someone who is not afraid to disrupt the old guard.”The air in the boardroom was thick with anticipation. Sunlight streamed through the panoramic windows to the faces of the assembled investors. Most were the usual suspects – stern, analytical and their expressions giving nothing away. Suddenly a man walked in which made all attention divert towards him, including mine.If I said he was not charming then that will be me lying to myself. He was not just attracting; his presence was a force of nature. Tall with an easy smil
