Selene's POV

I was struck with the enormity of what was going to happen as soon as I entered the boardroom. Although the polished floors shone in the gentle illumination, the rooms' sleek pricey furnishings and floor-to-ceiling windows gave off an air of detachment much like everything else in the game. That was appropriate.

I had been preparing for this moment for years and now I was finally in charge. Neither Seth nor Chloe knew what was going to happen. When I entered they had already taken their seats, their gazes lifted from the papers strewn across the conference table.

As she gazed at me Chloe's exquisitely manicured smile momentarily wavered. Seth attempted to maintain an expressionless expression as usual but I could see the glimmer of recognition in his eyes. I could tell he knew this would not be a casual meeting by the moment he hesitated before his jaw tightened.
